Jul 2, 2011I have master page in ASP.NET. I have added two asp controls to master page i.e. _EmpDROPDOWN and _findBUTTON.I have one content page. FindEmployee.aspx which shows result list of employees (Gridview) based on the selection made in _EmpDROPDOWN when _FindBUTTON is clicked on Master Page.I dont know how to read Master Page button click evenet in Content page.How to read master page button click event (VB.NET syntax) in Content Page?

May 11, 2011The thing is i have a Master page and a Content Page. I have a LoadComplete in Content Page and a PreRender in Master Page. The problem is one of my htmlcontrols on content page i change on the LoadComplete event server side of the content page. I also have some code for disabling controls on the Master Page PreRender event. For some reason all controls on the aspx side go through the Master Page prerender except the ones that i change on the LoadComplete side. How can i make sure the entire content page loads and then the Master Page PreRender event is called, making all the controls go through that event.

Now I have a requirement to add a link with HoverMenuExtender control and for that I need to put ScriptManager in the Master page, but it is working only in the content pages where there is not ScriptManager.

What would be the best, most logical way of handling this?
I thought of using FindControl on my content page to find the button, and then somehow figure out if it had been clicked or not...but my logic quickly spiraled downhill.

However, I can't seem to reference that text field through the javascript, since the form begins on the master page. Asp.net - Pass Cancel Or Update Button Click From Popup Back To Parent Page?
Apr 25, 2012I have a popup aspx page that receives data from a parent page gridview Edit click. There is a great deal of parsing of data from parent page to pop up as the data is being translated in pop up, then sent back to parent page to be reassembled in the original text block before update.
When the popup passes the data back or is canceled, the parent page gridview is still in Edit mode.I would like to pass the Cancel or Update button click from the popup to the parent page gridview so it can complete the update or cancel event without asking the user to click the corresponding command button link from the gridview edit mode, to Update or Cancel.
UPDATE: There is also a jquery UIBlocker on the Parent page to prevent the user from returning to the page until the PopUp page processing has been completed. Below is the critical code:

Had a problem with preventing the popup from reloading. So there is an if condition in the load event. A dynamic number of controls are built on the popup as literals. So the Page Init event and Page Load event fire on non Postback to rebuild the controls.
Update A Master Page From A View?
Sep 10, 2010I have an ASP.NET MVC 2 project that renders conventional strongly typed pages, but on some of these pages I also want to use the page's object to render a specific area (div) in the navigation section of the Master Page.
For example, if I have a Client object and associated strongly typed View, I want the View to be able to insert client-specific navigation items within a div in the Master Page's navigation.
I've actually achieved this in a not very elegant fashion by creating a ViewData item to hold the Client object - this is in addition to returning the client object with the View. The Master Page then takes the ViewData object and, if it's not null, renders the client-specific navigation section. This way of doing things will get very ugly as the number of different objects that have to be handled increases.

Jan 6, 2010I'm trying to retrieve a custom Attribute set on a page's class from inside the MasterPage. Normally to do this I would need to reflect directly on the specific class, but inside the Master page it's always referred to as the Page type (the parent class). How do I determine the specific type of the Page property?
Here's an example of what I'm trying to do:

but it only ever returns the attributes attached to the actual Page class.

May 21, 2012I am using <%@ MasterType virtualpath="~/__.Master" %> to embed my master page content into child page to access control belong to Master Page. I have one DropDownList in Master page. And I want to access its SelectedValue in my Child Page.
Problem is when page first time loads and as I am trying to access DropDownList's Selected Value by writing in child Page - "Master.DropDownList.SelectedValue". I am not able to get DropDownList's Value. Its display's Blank.
But When Page.IsPostBack I am able to get SelectedValue of that DropDownList.
Setting Default Button Of Panel Within Master Page?
Mar 2, 2011Can you set the default button of a panel with a button that is not in that panel but in another content placeholder within a master page? I have tried this but I get the following error:
The DefaultButton of 'pnlTmp' must be the ID of a control of type IButtonControl.
I have also tried setting the panels DefaultButton this way :
pnlTmp.DefaultButton = btnContinue.UniqueID
This gave me the same error.

Jul 29, 2011In my master page init sub I have a block of data/text being written to a control. The basic idea was that it should be available on every page (obviously). However, I have come across a situation in which I need this to NOT happen on a certain page. Is there anything I can do, short of making a new master page for this specific page, to make this work? I also use a basepage, if that ever needs to come into play.

Nov 18, 2010I have 1 master page in asp.net(vb.net). now this master page has 1 form which has 10 textboxes in it. On the other hand the master page has about 10 different links in it (outside the form), that link to different pages. My question is how do i keep all this same way, and only divide the form in 2 pages. 5 textboxes for first and 5 textboxes for second. So basically when master page loads, it doesnt show the 10 textboxes as original, but shows only first 5, and when clicked "continue", the next 5 textboxes load on the same place as the first 5 were. The rest of links in page and rest of the page, remains exactly the same.

Mar 8, 2009I have a form with a Tab Control that has 18 pages. When I click on a tab it opens the page and select a textbox on that page (txtTextbox1. Select() ). This works for the first 8 pages but not for the remaining 10 pages. Although on these pages I can mouse click on the textbox, enter info, save then click my Add button that clears the textboxes and has the code (txtTextbox1. Select() ). The textbox is selected just fine. The code for all my pages is the same except for the tab name and the control names. The tab key will move the selection to the next textbox in order on all pages and the Enter key is coded to do the same. The first 8 pages have a total of 256 labels, buttons, list boxes, textboxes and checkboxes on them.

When I click the browser back button to go back to the page it says the page has expired. the other pages on my web site work and call the page load, the only solution i found but cant use is to wrp the whole page in an update panel, but i cant do this becuase i have a report viewer on the page that does not work with ajax.

Nov 15, 2011I have a web application built around a frameset. The main page (with the frameset layout) is index.aspx. After the user logs in, if there are any alerts it redirects the main content frame to an alerts page with a confirmation button on it. When they click this button I want the index.aspx to be reloaded. If I use the response.redirect("index.aspx") on button click it reloads the main content frame with another frameset.
The server-side button click sets a flag within the database so that the user doesnt see the alert again.
how do I force a complete reload of the entire frameset?
