I have a ListBox that is only about 4 lines high. After I add more than 4 Items, it attaches them to the bottom of the list outside of the viewable area with out scrolling. Is there any way to either add items to the top of the list or make the latest item visible? I want to keep all the items in the list in the order they were added whether it is oldest to newest or newest to oldest.

Item Cannot Be Added To A Read-only Or Fixed-size List?

Jun 11, 2010

I have two datagridviews in my app. They're related. When there is no record in the parent datagridview, I select the "New Row" and then press the Add Button in the child datagridview's bindingnavigator. Then I get that exception:

InvalidOperationException: Item cannot be added to a read-only or fixed-size list.

I know why this happens. When I add new record to child datagridview, parent datagridview's new row loses focus and then delete row. So this error occures. How do I prevent my program from this exception. Remember, it's only occures if there is no record in the parent datagridview.

Error - A Reference To C:ProgramFilesMyExes....dll Could Not Be Added

Jan 6, 2011

I'm trying to learn how to call functions in C DLLs from Visual Basic programs. I'm new to VB but have years of experience in C programming & want my functions to be usable by people who are more familiar with VB.

I managed to create a C DLL & call the functions from a C program. One difficulty I had was that I wanted to put my DLLs in a MyExes directory so I could easily have several unrelated programs call them. It was far from obvious how to tell the compiler & linker to look for the DLL in some arbitrary folder but I eventually found out.

[URL]

Now one of my difficulties with DLLs & Visual Basic is how to tell Visual Basic 2010 Express to look for functions in a DLL in some arbitrary folder. I tried to use Project->Add Reference, then in the Browse tab went to the folder & DLL I wanted to use, but got the message box:"A reference to C:ProgramFilesMyExes....dll could not be added. Please make sure that the file is accesible and that it is a valid assembly or COM component."I've tried to find a walkthrough to take me through the steps of using C DLLs in VB 2010, but so far had no luck.

DataGridView "An Item With The Same Key Has Already Been Added." While Using A Unique Index?

Oct 22, 2010

I've looked around and can't seem to find a solution to my problem. I have an EventLog object which inherits DataGridView and has a public variable EventList which is a List(Of EventLogItem). EventLogItem has seven properties which describe the event, including Index which is set to EventList.Count each time an entry is added (so, it should be unique). Everything has worked just fine until I tried to add an entry from a serial port DataReceived event handler upon which I receive the following exception:An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is: An item with the same key has already been added.Clicking 'View Details' and expanding the InnerException yields no more information. Insert Command - Record Is Not Added Without Any Type Of Error

Jun 22, 2010

I am a beginning programmer and am having a problem with adding a record to a customer table in a Microsoft Access database. I have worked for hours reading my textbook and troubleshooting to no avail. When I execute this code below the record is not added and I do not get an error of any type. When I go into debug mode, all of the parameters are correct and everything looks good. If I open up Access I can manually add the record but using my program nothing happens. All datatypes are string in VS and text in Access.

First an instance of the Customer Class is created and this seems to be successful. But when I take that customer object and run the AddCustomer method of the customer class it is not successful in that the database does not reflect that the record was ever added. [Code]

Possible To Make List Box Item Height For Item Depending On Amount Of Lines That Item Contains?

Jan 1, 2012

I have a list box on the form which functions as a copy/paste. When you copy something, it is automatically added to the list box as a "clipboard helper". Here is the problem, however: if the text is more than 1 line, the list box does not show all the text.It ends up looking messy. So getting back to my question, is it possible to make the list box item height for an item depending on the amount of lines that item contains? This is a one line sentence in the list box and should take up one line. This is a multi line sentence in the list box and should take up two lines for item height.

Original DataTable Object Has Columns Added When Variable Has Columns Added?
