I have a window menu (handles all open window forms in the Parent) once a new window opens i used this [Code] but i need also to add an onlick event on all the forms being added, so when they click that sub menu it will open the form selected. My question is how can i add an onclick event for this newly added menu item?

View 7 RepliesI am creating a program in which there is a listview control with many items contained in it. It also has checkboxes for each of them. I am trying to get it so that when you check the checkbox next to an item, it removes the item from the list. I am using this code:
Private Sub ListView1_ItemCheck(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.ItemCheckEventArgs) Handles ListView1.ItemCheck
ListView1.Items.RemoveAt(e.Index)
End Sub
When I run this however, and check an item, it gives me this error (I am checking the first item in the listview, which would mean the index is 0): InvalidArgument=Value of '0' is not valid for 'index'. Parameter name: index
I've have been testing this code out for both the listview events ItemCheck and ItemChecked. How is 0 out of the index range? Wouldn't it be the first item in the listview, in which case it should remove the item.
I've made a SCADA system with VB.net and AdvancedHMI, which is a program that monitors plant equipment etc.I've also made an alarm logger which out of a listview, so, when an alarm comes in, say "Alarm 1", en entry gets added to the list view as an "Active" event.
If the alarm clears, then another "Cleared" event gets added to the listview.This works OK, but when you start to get lots of alarms, it's difficult to determine which alarms are actually active, because you may have multiples of the same alarm.What I want to do, is to be able to press a button, which looks for when there has been an "Alarm" event and then a "Cleared" event for the same alarm, and then removes both of them from the listview. So it should then show only active alarms.I know that maybe a listview possibly isn't the best choice for my ultimate goal,
I have a ListView with the Activation property with HotTracking. There appears to be about a 2 second delay between when the user clicks the item and the event fires. Is there a way to get the event to fire immediately upon the user click?
View 2 Repliesi have multiple forms in a project and all have statusbar. there is no way to add textbox on status bar but in my previous thread i got the help to add the text box. i created a function in module so that i call that function from all the forms on load and add the textbox on status bar and also add the event on textchange. the function to be called on event change is in individual form (at present)[code]
View 11 RepliesI have a VB (.NET3.5) project like this:
- form1: IsMDIForm = true.
- form2: adding a list view with 2 records, select first record, and register the event ItemSelectionChanged.
- Add form2 as a child of form1 (form2.MDIParent = form1).
- When use "form2.Show()" -> the event ItemSelectionChanged firing three time:
+ 1st: SelectedItem = 1
+ 2nd: SelectedItem = 0
+ 3rd: SelectedItem = 1
I want to know the rootcause (not Solution) of thi issue, can anyone help me !?

The idea with this form is to add the futures which is calculated when the button is pushed but I need the list to update every time and show the values each time to which the previous value is added to the new calculation, e.g. of what it should look like in listbox:
Year 1: $1,290.93
Year 2: $2,724.32
Year 3: $4,350.76
etc....
I have been working on this a while and I am at a standstill, I was given a function to clear the form everytime it calculates but I don't know how to implement it, I am new to VB. Here is what I have so far:
Public Class frmFutureValue
Private Sub btnCalculate_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, _
ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnCalculate.Click
[code]....
Ok, so I have a listview on one form, and when a button is pressed it opens up a new form with the contents of the selected listview item and it's subitems in a series of textboxes. The user can then change the data in the textboxes and either press save to make the changes or cancel to close the window. What command would I use to change the selected listview item and subitems to whatever is in the boxes?
this is the code that populates the boxes:
Private Sub Form_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
Dim appeditcontents As String = main.passlist.SelectedItems(0).ToString
[Code]....
Public Enum ERight
ECanInvite = 0
ECanCreate = 1
ECanDelete = 2
etc...
[CODE]......................
This below sub, on rights.add, sometimes throws this error: An item with the same key has already been added.
Private Shared rights As Dictionary(Of ws_garuda.EUserType, List(Of ERight)) = Nothing
Private Sub initRoles()
rights = New Dictionary(Of EUserType, List(Of ERight))

removing Listbox item from checked Listview item.The code I tried just errors out.
Private Sub ListView1_ItemCheck(sender As Object, e As System.Windows.Forms.ItemCheckEventArgs) Handles ListView1.ItemCheck
If (e.CurrentValue = CheckState.Unchecked) Then
ListBox1.Items.Add(Me.ListView1.Items(e.Index).Text)

I have a media browser program I am building. I am trying to use drag/drop so a user can drag media tracks from one listview to another listview and then use the second list view as a playlist in windows media player com object. Reading at MSDN I have found out that there is no built in support for item re-ordering with the listview control. I have listview1 working correctly but when I try to reorder items in listview2, the dragged item ends up at the end of the list. So basically I need to get the item insertion index corrected. I have tried more than 10 times to get this code right.
Here is my code which includes a form with two listview's.
Public Class Form1
Private Sub ListView_ItemDrag(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As _
System.Windows.Forms.ItemDragEventArgs) Handles ListView1.ItemDrag, _
ListView2.ItemDrag
[CODE]...
Do I really have to go through all this just to find out what item has been selected in a ListView?

Isn't there something fundamental like this? Is absolutely everything in VB.NET buried beneath a colossal heap of bureaucracy?
the disply color buttons click even procedure shold display the color of the item whose item number is entered. all item numbers contail eactly five characters(12b12). my problem is i can not get it to disply a color in the lblcolor control. it displays the item number.

I have a ListBox that is only about 4 lines high. After I add more than 4 Items, it attaches them to the bottom of the list outside of the viewable area with out scrolling. Is there any way to either add items to the top of the list or make the latest item visible? I want to keep all the items in the list in the order they were added whether it is oldest to newest or newest to oldest.

View 1 RepliesI have two datagridviews in my app. They're related. When there is no record in the parent datagridview, I select the "New Row" and then press the Add Button in the child datagridview's bindingnavigator. Then I get that exception:
InvalidOperationException: Item cannot be added to a read-only or fixed-size list.
I know why this happens.When I add new record to child datagridview, parent datagridview's new row loses focus and then delete row. So this error occures.How do I prevent my program from this exception. Remember, it's only occures if there is no record in the parent datagridview.
I have a DataGridView which I AllowUserToAddRows behavior enabled. I want to be able to force that only one row be added at time, then if the user clicks the save button the row is inserted into the database, and then another row may be added if the insert was successful.
The reason I want to do this is to get the last inserted id and insert that information into another table.
The scenario is i get a string sent to me that i split by a space. Any thing under 60 count when the split occurs it's fine. After that i have a problem.Now there is a lot that needs to happen before we can add this newly split array to the listview.First we need to check what the name starts with. Then assign an icon to this nick.When my server class gets sent this string. Raw Numeric 353 channel names i then send it to my nicklist class.
vb
Private Sub InitiateThread(ByVal nicks As String) Handles _server.NameListEventArgs
Dim thread As New Thread(DirectCast(Sub() DoWorkChannelNicks(nicks), ThreadStart))
thread.Start()
End Sub
Then we split the string and loop each item
vb
Private Sub DoWorkChannelNicks(ByVal users As String)
Dim nicks() As String = users.Split(" "c)
[code]....
how to speed the process up?
I'm writing code some that is supposed to be creating a list of objects pulled from a data base. The list returned has every item containing the value of the last one added. When I debug the code is VS2008 I can see each time that the list.add is performed every other item in the list being changed to the one just added. Here is the code I running. The line containing ListAKAs.Add(itemAKA) is the one where the entire list of objects is changed to be identical to the one just added.[code]....
View 1 RepliesI can finally filter my DataGridView every time a checkbox is checked or unchecked. However, I do not need it to filter out all of the messages each time a row is added, so I just need to check the current message. The following sub's demonstrate how I am doing this.
Public Sub FilterAllMessages()
'Show all rows
For Each showBand As DataGridViewBand In MessagesDataGridView.Rows
If showBand.Visible = False Then showBand.Visible = True
Next
[Code] .....
Great, they both work as intended...but I believe I am losing out on efficiency with the way I have this. I have tried adding another public sub CheckMessage() to run through the row, pretty much doing what each long list of If/ElseIf checks does.
IN the FilterLastMessage() I just call CheckMessage(), and in the FilterAllMessages() I call it like this:
For Each band As DataGridViewBand In MessagesDataGridView.Rows
CheckMessage()
Next
This isn't working as it is unable to get the index for each message when I have it FilterAllMessages(). I'm just wondering about making the 2 sub's above more efficient so I can have it CheckMessage() just once, instead of it doing basically the same thing twice. Also, the messages all go on to a DataGridView, and this will be constantly writing messages to the window. After a while I would imagine that this will bog down the program, so I am wanting to keep the number of messages that are displayed < 2000. How is the most efficient way to achieve this?
I have a form in which I add 9 labels in Run Time with .add method inside a panel. When I try to remove those labels in Run Time using For Each Loop, only 5 labels get removed. My code is given below.Code to Add Labels
While rs1.Read()
channelid = rs1("s_id")
Dim channelLabel As New Label[code].....
When i run the loop without .remove and .dispose it alerts .Text of all Lables present inside that Panel and With .remove and .dispose it does not remove all Lables and does not alert all .Text. In other words it misses 1 after 1.
Basically i'm trying making a task manager program for myself. I want to know how I can display a message box and or play a sound when system time = time displayed in listview. I have used a dropdown box for the user to select which option they would like to select - sound or message box to popup. The data for the task will be stored in a listview box. I want it so that when the date and the time is = to the date and time set for the reminder the action will follow.Here is my code so far:
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click
Dim notext As String = ""
If TextBox1.Text = notext Then[code]....
I am trying to add icons to a listview that would contain a list of programs added by the user. I am pulling my hair out over this. I had the solution a few days ago and then I decided to go in another direction and then cleared my browser history. I have searched for that code for awhile now to no avail. I have a list view with 2 columns (Prodduct and Price). I want the user to be able to add there own values to the listview and have them save so that they will always stay there.I would also like users to be able to delete specific items from the saved list.
The values added to the colums are paired, and must stay together, as one value would be a product and the other a price, So they must, stay together. as a pair
