I am trying to use datasource and bind in my application to set a dropdown list to the results of a query. The dropdownlist populates correctly (shows each different type_name in the set) but later when I use ddltype.selectedvalue - I am always getting the value from the first item in the dataset. I have a dropdownlist in my repeater, the dropdownlist is databound by a datasource. Originally all the dropdownlist will have all the same item option. I try to do if one of the showing dropdownlist is selected one option, then in other dropdownlist this option will disapper.

I have a GridView on an ASP.NET page that I'm trying to bind to an object data source that I've set up to map to a vb object I made which accesses the DB. When I run the page, though, the gridview comes up empty.
The ObjectDataSource is definitely returning data. The paging parameters are making it to the underlying object. All the way until I get to the DataBind() call everything seems fine. But the grid comes up empty. Funny thing is, if I use the method that returns all records in the DB, the grid populates just fine. Only when I try to implement custom paging does display no records. I've tried using the wizards, I've tried diagrammatically setting it up and run time. No matter what I do I can't get paged data to display in the grid.

Let's say I have a DropDownList of product categories and a ListView of products based on the category selection in the DropDownList. When a user visits the page, there is a possibility of conconrency issue as new product belonging to a new category may be added to the inventory as the user is browsing.When the user selects a different category to view(a SelectedIndexChanged event) and causes a postback, I want the DropDownList to update the list of categories to include the new category being concurrently added and at the same time still able to make a change of selected index.

I'm running into a little problem with a gridview and a dropdownlist. I can get the dropdownlist to load initially, but when it autopostback's it returns with no value. I am populating the dropdownlist in the RowEditing sub. I'm guessing that I must somehow rebind in the RowDataBound sub, but don't know how to go about it. If I try to find the control's SelectedValue I end up with nothing.

i have problem for the drop down list in the grid view, it not fire the select index changed. I bind the data for the drop down list when the row databound. I'm having some difficulty with a sorted & grouped listbox in WPF vb.net 3.5 that has an items source bound to an ObservableCollection.
What I want to be able to do is to retrieve a piece of data from the ObservableCollection items source depending on what item in the listbox the user has selected.I've almost got it working but because the listbox is sorted it does not match the index of the items source.

As I previously mentioned, because the lstBox is sorted and also grouped the index's don't match up.Does anyone know how I can get the correct information I want from the List Source depending on the selected item in the list box?
Let me try to describe my problems in the simplest way: I have combobox1 and combobox2. I hope to achieve two things: Combox1 is bound to list1 (a list of string). When a user selects an item in list1, list2 (a list of string) will be obtained from database and combobox is bound to list2.If user specifies text1 in combobox1 and text2 in combobox2, then these two values will be shown in the comboboxes regardless of the bound lists.

So the results of above code is that goal 1 is achieved, but goal 2 is never achieved. combobox1.selected index is always 0 and combobox2.selected index is always 0 too.

When the user clicks on any of the 8 ImageMaps, I add the PostBackValue to the dropdownlist ddlChosenParts.The problem is that if the user clicks on the same ImageMap twice, the PostBackValue is added twice.I want to check if ddlChosenParts contains the ImageMap's PostBackValue and if it already contains it, do not add it again. I go to properties of this dropdownlist and then I add Items property as the following:

And the code behind is that:

When I wanted to edit the changes by selecting the dropdownlist, it didn't display anything after I selected the changes. View 5 RepliesI'm designing a web page with two dropdownlists, one for the Make of a car, the other for the Model, both bound to a database with separate SQLDataSources, and using a distinct statement. I add "All" at the top of both by setting appendDataBoundItems = true and adding items named all. Then when I fill the Make with a querystring all the model items get added twice (but only the databound items).
