I am using ASP.NET with VB.NET as background code. I have 8 ImageMaps in my webform Estimator.aspx.Each ImageMap represents a car part (Front Bumper, Rear Bumper, Mirror, Hood, Sunroof, DoorShell, Headlights, Tail lights) and I have a dropdownlist ddlChosenParts. When the user clicks on any of the 8 ImageMaps, I add the PostBackValue to the dropdownlist ddlChosenParts.The problem is that if the user clicks on the same ImageMap twice, the PostBackValue is added twice.I want to check if ddlChosenParts contains the ImageMap's PostBackValue and if it already contains it, do not add it again. That means that if the user clicks more than once on the same ImageMap, it's PostBackValue is only added once in ddlChosenParts.I have this code but i'm getting an error: Value of Type String cannot be converted to ListItem. I have a dropdownlist with a list of options which is subject to change (e.g. 'active users'). Another data source may include historical data, but I wish to use the 'active users' dropdownlist against it. This means an ArgumentOutOfRangeException will be thrown so I want to catch that, and insert the required entry into the dropdownlist on the fly.
I've seen a few suggestions that point towards overriding the ondatabinding event within the dropdownlist, I've managed to do this insofar as I can create a static listitem for example "Value does not exist" and bypass the exception. However I wish rather than "Value does not exist" so show the actual value which we were attempting to find in the ddl.
ondatabinding is passed a standard EventArgs item which doesn't offer much to go on, I can see there is a DataListItemEventArgs class - is this in any way associated with a dropdownlist? I tried directcast on the EventArgs but that didn't work.
So is there any way - within ondatabinding - of finding out the value we're attempting to set on the dll, which causes the ArgumentOutOfRangeException?
Is there a way to edit an hidden field value of detailsview before inserting? I want to replace it with another value. Which event can I use?

Basically I need to write a program that displays the teams from a text file provided by my instructor, in alphabetical order. I can do that, but what I can't figure out is how to prevent the For loop from adding a duplicate team. What I'm envisioning is:

This works except that my listbox is filled with the team every player is in rather than just listing all possible teams. Not exactly looking for someone to just give me the answer, as I understand things best when figuring them out on my own, so I suppose a hint is what I'm really after.
Error Dropdownlist has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items. Parameter name: value I have been banging my head over this error for about a week now. I have searched posted on other forums and still no solution to my issue. I have seen the FindControl being suggested but do not know how to implement this.
Basically I have 2 webmethods that reference 2 datasets which then populate my ajax cascading dropdownlist. In insertmode they work great however in editmode i get the above error.I have removed the selectedvalue and added
DataSource='<%# Bind("intRoom") which works sort of except for the fact that when you click edit it does not retain the original value of that particular record. I don't think I can modify the datatemplate programmatically. Is there a way I can do this with binding (relative source)?
I am using VS 2008 (VB) with an XP machine. I exported an item template and now my computer locks up when I attempt to add a new item to my project. I tried deleting the exported template but the same thing happens.

I go to properties of this dropdownlist and then I add Items property as the following:

When I wanted to edit the changes by selecting the dropdownlist, it didn't display anything after I selected the changes. I'm designing a web page with two dropdownlists, one for the Make of a car, the other for the Model, both bound to a database with separate SQLDataSources, and using a distinct statement. I add "All" at the top of both by setting appendDataBoundItems = true and adding items named all. Then when I fill the Make with a querystring all the model items get added twice (but only the databound items).

I have a page with multiple RadPageViews, some with RadGrids in them. They all need command item template in order for the user to edit and refresh the grid. On my first page view, the item template works perfectly, poping-up the edit form for the user to edit the data of the selected row. On my second page view, the command item template buttons don't seem to want to work (not even the refresh). If it were just the edit button then i would suppose there'd be a problem with my edit form, but not its that no buttons seems to work (not even refresh). The grid does display the information correctly too.

I've been going through it many times and i don't understand why it doesn't work. I've also compared it to the working pageview and there doesn't seem to be any noticeable difference between them both.
I have two dropdownlist, one is State and one is City. When a State is selected, the City dropdownlist becomes populated. At that point you can select a city, however if you select a city and go back and select a different state, the city dropdownlist is populated by the cities for both states. How do I get it clear the cities for the first state?
