I am not sure but i am looking for some help regarding values to be autosuggested from database when a user types in a textbox and the values should be a drop down list. I am using VB Net and it is something like the Autocomplete feature except that the values should be from database. I have not seen any links to this type of material but i just wanna know if it is possible. Infact i have found this type of stuff working with a combobox but havent found any for textbox.
i have a combo box with data from database,it can already show all the data in the list when you click the list down,what i want to do is when i type on the combo box it can show me all the available items based on the text that i type, is it possible?
txtBox has key up event that fires, if txBox.length = 2, a sql select to dataset for custom source of autocomplete.when user types in 2 letters it selects the 2 letters and when 3rd character is typed of course it erases the first 2 if you dont unselect..

I want the text boxes to populate when a result is clicked from the drop list of the combo box at the moment you start typing in the combo box and it starts to populate with first names then you pick one of the names from the list which is displayed in the drop down box you then have to click the box to get it to populate the text boxes.
I would like to maintain a list of all of the strings entered into a ComboBox across all uses of an application on a given PC, for use as the AutoCompleteSource for that ComboBox, i.e., I enter in "Fred" in the ComboBox, commit the data, close the application, reopen the application, reopen the ComboBox, type "F", receive the suggestion "Fred".Assuming I already have in place code to create and maintain such a list in memory and add new elements to it as they are entered into the ComboBox, etc., what do you suggest as the best way to save/load this data in between sessions?Possible complicating factors: This application will be deployed via OneClick deployment, and will search for updates online every time the application starts. However, the issue is that TOtalAMount is getting updated automatically but FinalPrice is not getting updated. Any reasons/mistakes I have done. I have tried it a lot in few ways but could not get that working. What i did not understand is that Total amount is getting updated but Final price isn't.

I am trying to make a sample Master-Detail relation ship database example in vb.net. When I add MasterTable a new row via bindingnavigator and save via savebutton autoincrement field goes -1 -2... negative values hence cannot get correct ID numbes saved in table rows till I close open sample application. How can I see correct autoincrement ID numbers in gridview after savebutton ?.Just ID numbers saved to mdb.but cannot see them i gridview and displaying negative weird numbers. This problem is important because without getting ID numbers cannot bind Detail table rows to newly recorded master table rows.
i am currently making a project which is to make a cinema screen booking system. My main problem is that although i have most of what is working i need to find a formula to give the full result (overall price) in a label. My other problem is the fact that when i interact with my form certain things dont auto refresh when i change certain values e.g i change number of seats but it doesn't auto refresh the price or anything OR i click one discount then another but nothing changes and it keeps the old value.
Okay in my menu i have a CombBox (ComboBoxScreen) for choosing the film and there are 3 films to choose from in the drop menu each with their own price. I also have a Textbox (NumberSeats) for inputting a number of seats you want to book for chosen film. And lastly there are 3 radio buttons each with different discounts. e.g No discount, 10% off and 25% off. A formula to work out the overall price uses all three functions/tools above. [Code]
I'm using a pattern of buttons verticle, & horizonal, to produce a 2 dimensional matrix (6 deep, 25 wide .) The sequence is repeating, but offset from horizonal line to line. the values are 1 thru 12. there are corresponding files in the "My.resources." file carrying names related to the buttons. If the "my. Resources" filename is say.., "1,3,4,6,8,9,11,12 " & the buttons pushed have produduced the string "1","4","6" then the prestated file carries all these values, and therefore should be selected. All integers of the textbox list must be present in a "my.resources" file to show the file. There will be multiple files in the resource file that will fit. I have a problem with the auto-complete behaviour of comboboxes in VB.NET (with the .NET framework 2.0).I am using a combobox to type in numeric values, and its DropDown list to suggest possible numeric values. This list is sorted in ascending order, for example {"10","92", "9000", "9001"}.The combobox properties are set as follow:
When I don't type anything, the order of values of the DropDown list is correct, in original/ascending order. However, when I start typing something, the suggested values in the DropDown list get sorted (alphanumerically): if I type "9", the list of suggestions becomes {"9000", "9001", "92"}.I would like to prevent this behaviour to get the values of the list in the original/ascending order. I can't figure out how...A possible work-around would be to pad with zeroes the values in the list, e.g. {"0010", "0092", "9000", "9001"} but I would like to avoid this.
Heres my problem, My app outputs info into a textbox as a log and appends the new lines to the end of the textbox, is there a way i can scroll the textbox so it displays the end of the text? I had considered writing the line at the top and appending the rest of the data to it but the line is hard to do this way (it uses info from 2 seperate subs and would need a global or a new textbox) and ideally i would like the info at the end in chronological order. the textbox is refreshed at the end of each entry.

what I need to do is automatically (through a timer or similar method) look up a newly added record, and if it exists, have a number returned and populated to a specific textbox. I have the looking up the record and getting the field I want returned working fine, but I just cannot find any way to have it populate a textbox. Another small wrench in the works is that it's a web form. I think I'd be ok with a Windows form.The reason I need this is, the user will not be sure when this record has been added and it would work fine if they wanted to click a button until it is actually added to the table, retrieved and the number needed populates the textbox. However, the folks who gave me the spec prefer the user not to have to keep clicking a button for an undetermined amount of time. So, I've been trying to use a timer. I've tried everything I could think of to get it to populate the textbox. Even javascript didn't seem to work and neither did trying to a redirect back to itself. Everything is fine except for filling in the texbox.
Iam trying to convert all my access database into Sql Server databases and also create vb .net application for them all. First problem I encountered was there doesn't seem to be anything like a continous form(I know there is a datagridview). So i thought i would create a flowlayoutpanel. Place lots of textboxes on it and fill each of textboxes with information form my dataset. now on to the problem. one of the textboxes is the item description field. This field can have one word or many words. I have been trying to get the textbox to auto expand in height to cover the text. What is the best approximation algorithm to implement full-text fuzzy search. For example we have a dropdownlist with the following data (from SQL datasource):

Now I want to replace it with an autocomplete textbox, such that when the letter "p" is typed the list shows all three results. It should start matching the first letter of the first word or second word and so on. Also, it should highlight or make the matched letters bold in the suggestions dropdown.Is there a readymade control for ASP.NET (with JS or jQuery) to deliver all the aforementioned functionality? Otherwise if I have to implement it, is there a tutorial/blog which point me in the right direction?

i have a number generator which creates a number then a new line followed by another number. its set on a timer that goes over and over again until a desired number is reached. the only problem is that the numbers go off the screen and a scroll bar appears but stays at the top. is there a way to set the value of a scroll bar on a text box and if not how would i tie a vscrollbar to a textbox or richtextbox.

I'm using the AutoComplete function of a TextBox to suggest values from a database to the user. This works almost as expected. However, I do have two questions that I can't seem to find the answer to...
1) Is it possible to change the function that selects the items to display in the AutoComplete dropdown such that it will also select strings that match anywhere else than at the beginning? For example, when I type 'apple' I want that to match 'Apple' but also 'I have an apple!'.
2) Is it possible to change that same function to sort the options? (In my case based on how often they exist in the database.)

I believe the problem in Mdi form because it has timer code executed after the above code :
