how can I put the blinking cursor inside a specific cell on form load? I want the effect to be kind of like when you have a form with text boxes and when you set the tab order correctly, the first textbox will automatically have the focus and you can start typing right away. On a related question: how can I make the enter key activate the form's accept button when you're inside a cell?

View 10 RepliesOn my vb.net 2010 form the textbox which has tab stop 0 does get the focus when the form is opened but the cursor is not blinking. I know textbox 0 has the focus because if you start typing right after the form opens the characters show there. The cursor property of textbox 0 is set to Ibeam. This is my first-ever VB 2010 form. My 2008 forms work fine and my workaround is to do the project in 2008.

On a high resolution screen it is a real chore trying to find the text cursor position. I've ended up doing a heavy kludge of putting a little image of an arrow on the screen attached to a timer control to track and point to the cursor position!!! This is a very silly work around. It must be possible to make the text cursor wider somehow? It is only one pixel wide and I can barely see it. I can't be the only one who struggles with these narrow cursors?

View 4 RepliesI am using this code at the last line of my form load. I want the position 5,5 to have the cursor set at it. It works when then datagrid is already open:[code]However, when I use it on the form load, you can see that it was selected on the datagrid, but the cursor is set at textbox1...which happens to have the first tab order on the form, even though I have acceptstabs off. Can anyone tell me why this would happen? Basically, it is setting the cursor at the cell I want, but after the form loads, it jumps to textbox1 and highlights the text.

We are using the DataGridView Control for our projects. The Applications we are developing is the replacement for the Existing CLI (Command Line Interface Applications) written using FoxPro.The users are much more familiar with the Keyboard Navigations ratherthan using Mouse and all.Here What we need is, how can we handle the Keyboard Operations in the Data Grid View. Some of the Operations i am listing below.When we hit Enter Key :
1. Navigating the Cursor into a particular Cell (It will be in the Same Row, but Different Order), after getting focus the cell should become editable
2. Navigating the Cursor to the Next Row and First Column (Once i finished the editing in the Last Column )
3. Focusing the Cursor into a Specifc Row and a column. (With Editable)
I have second column as datagridviewTextBoxColumn column in the datagridview, after opening dot net form runtime, in first cell of this column , I am populating �-� character at third position with remaining everything blank. Requirement is cursor should be at first position in this cell.
But now what is happening is, as my second column�s first cell should have cursor after opening form, we are sending tab key from first column to second column runtime with SendKeys.Send("{TAB}") as result cursor is located after �-� which is not requirement , cursor should be at first position in cell.
I am having problem setting focus on specific cell in my Datagridview1 . On Form1 when clicking on cell 3 in any row, I am callig a Dialog1. However, when done working with it, and closing the Dialog1, the focus returns to cell 3 in my Datagridview1 . I like to set the focus on the next cell(4) making it the current cell.
I have tryed :

I want the user inputing in the cell and when error, the cursor cannot leave the cell when user key "TAB" or click in other where in the first time.But I find that it does not work in the first time. Until when I click the same cell in the second time, it trigger the action preventing user from leaving the cell and show the error message.

yeah i wanna make a proper system to hide the I beam cursor in a textbox, you know, when you click on a textbox, the cursor appears so u can know where to write, etc... i want it disabled, is there such thing possible with a code? or do i really have to play around with focus? i hate playing around with object focus :P
