I am trying to add a dll that contains some custom 3rd party conrtols and some in house user controls and am getting the following error -
"The Assembly "MyASsembly.dll" could not be loaded. Check that any dependencies the file requires are installed"
I am using Visual Studio 2003 and the 3rd part controls are C1.

View 4 RepliesI have a MouseEnter event which currently handles some custom controls on my form. The program is a card game. I have a collection (handCards) that gets populated when the user draws a card and then it adds the latest card to the form. This collection holds cards of various custom types, all which inherit from picturebox. Drawing the cards from the deck and adding them to the form works fine. The trouble I am having is that at runtime, after a card is drawn and added to the form, I've created an addhandler line of code to have those cards respond to my MouseEnter event, but my addhandler line of code is telling me that MouseEnter is not an event of object. How can I get around this so that after a card is drawn and added to the form, when the mouse enters the new custom control, my MouseEnter event fires? Here's one of the many things I've tried and what I think should be the simplest and easiest that should work.deck.DrawCard()AddHandler handCards(handCards.Count).MouseEnter, AddressOf Cards_MouseEnter
P.S. the MouseEnter event works fine for custom controls that are on the form prior to runtime and all it does is take the image of the control and enlarge it by placing the image to a bigger card on the form.
I want to add my custom controls to the visual studio toolbox programatically (not manually by selecting "add items") with my own tab.How can I achive it? Is there any registry entry where all the Toolbox items are entered to be able to view in the toolbox? where exactly the toolbox items list is stored?
View 2 RepliesI got a third party control from a website after googling.Inorder to use that control, I simply right-clicked the Toolbox and selected "Choose Item". Then Browse to that dll file location and selected that file.Now it is added to the toolbox. But do I have to register the dll now ? Or, will it work when I distribute my app ?
View 6 RepliesI created some custom controls which I use quite often and I thought if I add them once to my ToolBox they just will be there next time I start up VS2008; however, that does not seem to be the case! Each time I start VS2008 I have to re-add that controls (which is quite annoying!). Is there a trick / way of having them there permanently?
View 6 RepliesI have a solution with about 5 projects, the main (startup) project is a windows forms project while the others are control libraries that contain some custom controls. The main winforms project however also contains some custom controls.
Recently, the controls in the main winforms project have stopped appearing in my toolbox. The controls from the other control library projects appear just fine, but none of the controls in my main project will show...
Some of the projects are VB, some are C#.
I have tried everything I know to fix it:Delete bin/debug folders and restart
Build, build, build, build, and build Target the same .NET Framework version and CPU platform in all projects Build again Nothing works...
All projects target .NET Framework 4.0 and compile for the x86 platform (since I am using Access db). All projects build successfully, no errors. I can run the solution just fine. I can even declare and add the controls in code and they work just fine. They just don't show up in the toolbox so I can't drag them to my form and I have to dig into the designer code everytime, which is really annoying!
The hard thing is that I wanna create a Toolbox in the target system Visual Studio Toolbox.I wanna create this Toolbox at the installation time.
Anyone knows a way to do this both for VS.NET2005 and VS.NET2008?

View 1 RepliesWhat I've done is create a User Control Library (Project) and I've added a single User Control to that project. The control contains a single FlowLayoutPanel, and I created a Property on the control itself to pass the FlowDirection from the Control to its FlowLayoutPanel child.
Build, reference, component appears in the Toolbox and everything works fine, but the property on the control does not appear in the Properties window when I go to edit it at design time.

I have a Form which has a variety of controls on it backed by an abundance of code. I am contemplating replacing some of the controls with third-party controls. What is the easiest way to do this? That is, in a simple example, I may want to just replace the Form itself (i.e. use third-party form and keep using Visual Studio controls). Is it possible to migrate all the existing controls over to the new form. Or do you have to create everything from scratch on the new form (i.e. create all the controls from scratch, name them the same, and use the old code. Note I am assuming the third party controls have all the same properties which may not be the case).

View 2 RepliesWith several forms of mine, I occasionally run into the following issue: I edit the form using the designer (Visual Studio 2008, Windows Forms, .NET 2.0, VB.NET) to add components, only to find out later that some minor adjustments were made (e.g. the form's size is suddenly changed by a few pixels), and controls get deleted. This happens silently — event-handling methods automatically have their Handles suffix removed, too, so they never get called, and there's no compiler error. I only notice much later or not at all, because I'm working on a different area in the form.
As an example, I have a form with a SplitContainer containing an Infragistics UltraListView to the left, and an UltraTabControl to the right. I added a new tab, and controls within, and they worked fine. I later on found out that the list view's scrollbar was suddenly invisible, due to its size being off, and at least one control was removed from a different tab that I hadn't been working on.
Is this a known issue with the WinForms Designer, or with Infragistics? I use version control, of course, so I can compare the changes and merge the deleted code back in, but it's a tedious process that shouldn't be necessary. Are there ways to avoid this? Is there a good reason for this to occur?
One clue is that the control that was removed may have code (such as a Load event handler) that expects to be run in run time, not design time, and may be throwing an exception. Could this cause Visual Studio to remove the control?

What I ended up doing is creating a custom action on commit that dynamically creates the link using Windows Scripting Host. Then on uninstall, removing the link.

Will i be able to successfully install 2010 beta 2 side by side 2008? because i want to test 2010 features and some development toolkits such as silverlight while i don't want to uninstall my visual studio 2008 professional.
View 2 RepliesI have a Visual Basic project and when working and modifying code, the compiler will crash and then a message will say something like "Microsoft visual studio encountered a problem and was shut down." I've tried editing code from the solution and the project. Both produce the error. Usually occurs when adding an "IF...Then..." condition. May work for hours but then crash. Solution will compile and build.

View 2 RepliesI made a custom control that is a 15x15 grid designed to show a tiled map. Inside I have a class that inherits from pictureBox. The problem comes when I try to place my DLL inside the toolbox. When I click "browse" and select my DLL to import it simply import my class inheriting pictureBox instead of the whole package.

I made a customized TextBox that I'd like to permanently add to the toolbox. But when I close the project that I created it in, my new control also disappears and I have to copy/paste or import the class-code every time I want to use it. Is there a way to get the control in the toolbox "forever"?I tried to enclose the class in a "Namespace CustomClasses" statement and changed the root namespace in the project properties to "CustomClasses", but nothing of what I tried is permanent. I prefer to store my classes in a "real" root namespace, in the same root as the microsoft and system namespaces.
