With my datagridview I have column for datetime. I used the following for format.
Mydatagrid1.Columns(3).DefaultCellStyle.Format = "dd/MM/yyyy"
But the problem is it's getting input like MM/dd/yyyy and after pressing enter it's changing to dd/mm/yyyy style. So is it possible to read input like "dd/MM/yyyy".

I've made a class to encode a string
Public Class UTF8
Public Shared Function encode(ByVal str As String)
Dim utf8Encoding As New System.Text.UTF8Encoding
Dim encodedString() As Byte
encodedString = utf8Encoding.GetBytes(str)
[Code]...
Return encodedString.ToString() always returns "System.Byte[]". How could I get the real UTF-8 String?

all ` should be replaced with `` right? Well, is there a function built in by vb.net that does that sort of thing already?
That way I do not have to encode it.By the way, I do not access sql database directly. Basically I am creating a text file and that text file contains raw sql statements. Most of the answers deal with accessing sql data directly.

I'm trying to match a certain DateTime value with the current system DateTime. I have a timer and a label on a form. Timer interval is set to 1000. When the form loads, the timer starts ticking. As soon as the current DateTime matches the value of the variable, it shows a message in the label. When I'm writing the following code, the values don't match even if the current system DateTime is equal to the variable. Label1 isn't showing 'Times Matched':[code]The default format of 'Now' is the same as I have stored in dtmVar variable. So there's no question of format mismatch. Does that mean 'Now' is not actually a DateTime property? Provided, my O.S. is Windows Vista Ultimate and all date/time settings are set to default.

Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick
Dim dtmNow As DateTime

Why is it so? The default format of 'Now' is the same as I have stored in dtmVar variable. So there's no question of format mismatch. Does that mean 'Now' is not actually a DateTime property? Provided, my O.S. is Windows Vista Ultimate and all date/time settings are set to default.

I have a call to Server.URLEncode(string) from an old asp file that stores user input into a table. In this case it was a string of Chinese charters.
The actual data is :
%E8%B0%B7%E6%AD%8C%E7%9A%84%E5%89%8D%E6%99%AF%E9%BA%A6%E5%85%8B%E6%96%AF%E9%9F%A6
I rewrote the code to vb.Net and after I get the data from the table, I call
HttpContext.Current.Server.UrlDecode(string) to decode the string, add it existing mark up for an email and send it on its way.
Note that with Visual Studio i can see the HTML markup as it appears in the email, and ALL of the Chinese data is EXACTLY as I would expect it.
When the emial is received i get "???????????" characters where there should be the Chinese characters.
What I do not understand:
What Server.URLEncode actually encodes the data to. It appears to be HEX.
What the array of "?" means in outlook or any other email system that opens it, I assume it means "Hey i cant convert this stuff, so here is a question mark for kicks, good luck."

I try to compare Datetime.Now with a Datetime variable I set, using the Datetime.CompareTo() method. I use a timer to compare these every second and display the result, but as the current time approaches the time I set, the result changes from 1 to -1, but never 0, which means these two are never equal. I'm suspecting the Datetime structure contains milliseconds?
