I have an app that I'm using Form2 to display informaitonal messages without having the user to press the OK button. I DIM form2 as a new form as a global and then add a lable to it on the fly and then control it's appearance with a timer. This all works great providing the main form is being displayed however I can't make Form2 show up if the main form is minimized or hidden. I can get around this a bit by keeping the main form maximized but change it's Opacity to zero but once I do that I have no idea how to return the Opacity back to normal when I do want to see the form. Anyone have any ideas on how to make Form2 display if the main from is minimzed or how to control the Opacity of the main form so I can return things to normal? I was thinking that there might be something I could do with hovering over or clicking on the icon in the taskbar but I don't know what that event might be.

I'm working on a program tthat will connect to a database and display some data. But everytime i press a button to connect my program to the database i keep getting this error message Cannot open database "Northwind" requested by the login. The login failed. This is the first time I am tring to use events.. I am not sure what's going wrong.. the textfill event is never called from form1.
Basically, I have developed one form which is generic and display different views. On that form I have used Close button. Alphabet E is short-cut for closing the form (i.e. mnemonic functionality).During execution of the form, when I press "E" on that form, my form closes automatically. As per my understanding mnemonic works with Alt control only. I am not sure if I am missing any properties that should be set so that this problem is resolved.

I have a form with some buttons i built in visual studio basic 2010 When I left click a button it uses 1 value...but I want to be able to right click the same button and it use a different value i cannot find anywhere how to activate the right mouse button so it presses the buttons on the form so it use the different value i specify.

Everytime I login, It seems to run the logout function also. It DOES NOT do the SendRequest, but it does the me.client.dispose() which logs you out of chat. Is there a way where i can make this function only work when a button is pressed or the form is closing. In the form closing and btnLogout code I have Logout(), but I only want it to run that function when you close the form or you press the logout button, not when you log in. Is there anyway?

I also have a 'ListBox' on the form. What I would like to do is, allow the user to select one, two, or three rows (or all) in the datagrid, and press a button that will move the data from selected rows into my listbox (each row its own string in the list box).
I can populate the datagrib easy enough, but don't know how to access the cell data individually?
Using VS2008 I created a dataset in the designer and created a table with one column in the dataset. I pulled this table to create a DGV on Form1 and my column appeared (DS & BS were created on the form as well). It is on Form1 that I would like to initially populate the DT. (The DS is internal and does not have a connection string) On Form2 I would like to create a DGV and use the BS on Form1 as the data source. This is not visible, however, from Form2. I can set the data source programatically but then the column is not visible on Form2 until run time and I would like to make my formatting changes on Form2 using the designer. I tried making the DS and BS on Form1 both public but they still are not visible as a data source on the Form2 DGV.Is there a way to make a data source on a form visible to other forms in the project using the designer?

When the user tries to close form1 if their is more than 1 tab open, it shows form2 which ask if they want to close the whole program or just the current tab. View 1 RepliesI have a strange problem with creating an instance of a form which I want to use as a custom message box.
The idea is that when the user clicks the button to perform a database search, an instance of this form is loaded. The background image of the form never displays but the text on the form does - but it all works fine when I remove the call to the database.
I also tried putting a "proper" VB message box just before the database call and when I block it this way it seems to allow the image to draw on the form.I also tried using a timer delay before the database call - just a couple of seconds to see if that would allow it time to draw the image.

I have two forms on my project and I want to be able to click a button and have the other form appear and show a picture in a picture box.
View 1 RepliesFrontend: Visual Basic.Net VS: VS 2010 .net Framework: 4.0 Backend: MySQL 5.0. Everything is working well, add/edit/save. I am using datasets to manipulate the database the forms are created by wizard and i drag and drop the details over the form. The Problem: I delete a record on the form, it disappears (it deletes it from dataset i think) but i go to the database it is still there also if i close the form and re-open it the records re-appear.
There is something i do but it raises an error, after deleting the records i hit the save button,the following comes up. Transaction has already been rolled back or is not pending after that the records are really deleted.
I have a few questions:
1. how do I make a button press a certain button in another application? (i.e - for example it goes to application "iexplorer" and press insert, home, a, b, or other button in the keyboard)
2. How do I make a virtual keyboard (for example a button opens form 2 or 3 and when you click on a button in the keyboard it goes to a certain text box in form 1)?
