I am basically from VC++, for compiling a project with Unicode support we will change the setting in project properties and build it. In VB.net is there anything like that, Do I have to change any setting before building to enable Unicode support.?

View 4 Repliesbuilding a program at the moment that changes registry entries to turn on and change, and off proxy settings. This small program is going to be dropped on each persons desktop so they can easily turn on the proxy in work, and turn it off when they take their laptop home.
However, the proxy address changes depending on which company I am at. I would like to be able to make a single program, but have a "hidden" setting to change the proxy and store it in the program, and push a copy of the file out across the network to each machine. I tried to make it so the proxy address can be saved as a string in My.Settings, but it would have to be made as a User setting rather than an application setting to give it read-write access.The only other option I can think of is to hard-code the proxy address into the program, which really isn't ideal

Works Good, but when I add the btnStartStop.Text = "Start" or .Text = "Stop" to the If Statements, it's always getting stuck on "Stop" I also tried a Boolean statement but came out all funky, EVERY OTHER button was Disabled while the OTHERS were Enabled. I compiled some VB6 code on my Win7 x64 machine and the result .exe will not run correctly on any other machine. VB6 code is just a new template .exe file with one button, a reference to "Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.6 Library" and the following code in the button press event: Dim db Set db = New ADODB.Connection It runs correctly on my machine, but no others (even other Win7 x64 machines) (Update: I found TWO other users where it runs and one of them is Jeff Atwood!, but most machines have the same problem)

View 9 RepliesI am working on an application using vb 2008 express. I have built test programs over the past few weeks and shared them for feed back. Today when I finished some work, I built another test application, but when I install it the start-up screen maximizes but is set between one and two desktop icons from the top of the screen.
In debug mode it looks fine. In the past it looks fine. Each time I start the program the screen is in a slightly different location. It is set to start maximized and to the best of my knowledge, I did not change any settings in the property area. I have tried loading on three computers and the results are the same. Any ideas on what I could have done to produce this strange result?
