I am planning on creating a service that measures the bootup time for a computer. It would go something like this:
1. Service starts and waits for CTRL+ALT+DEL screen 2. Timer starts when logon screen appears 3. User logs in and timer stops 4. Service waits for process X to start 5. Process X starts and service gets System.Environment.TickCount 6. Service subtracts step 3 ticks from tickcount
The reason for the logon screen timer is I don't want to measure if the user booted up and went for coffee or something and shows up 20 mins later to log in. Is there any way for the service to detect when the logon screen is present and when it's gone?
I have devloped a small applicaiton in vb.net. Now i have a requirement where i have to change the contents of a text file while installing the application in to the system
I created a new application and add a splash screen ..when i wanna change the text "WindowsApplication1" in "text" field of splash screen i change for "Video Club", but press F5 and VB show me the same WindowsApplication1 ...that's is my problem..
My form holds a group of textbox's that get data from a dataset, it also has a navigator on it to nav the records.I'm trying to have the "title" or text of the form itself change with the contents of the dataset, I can make it change using the nav button events, but I have to put code into every single event (bindingnavigatorMoveFirst_click, movenext.... etc) and the title does not show when the form first loads that way.
Dim xName As String = ComboBox5.SelectedValue Dim xCase As String = CaseNumberTextBox.Text Me.Text = "Case " & xCase & " worked by " & xName
Im trying to make the contents of my form appear in the center of the screen, no matter what screen resolution is being used.I have been searching the net and have found code similar to the following but i cant get anything to work.
Dim x As Integer = _ (Me.ClientSize.Width - GroupBox1.Width) 2 Dim y As Integer = _
is there a way to view the data contents of a datagridview on screen? i mean if i have a dgv with 7 columns and 7 rows, and i can only view 5 columns and 5 rows of it when i run the program cause i have a small form,(regardless of the scrollbars) is there a way that when i click the button 'viewonscreen', the whole datagridview will be viewed on screen?
I have to rename a text file present in one of my directory. The file is emp_det_1.txt and I have to compare the name of this file with emp_det.txt (this name is present in a Table). For this i have compared the first 7 letters of both the strings. Now i have to rename the file as emp_det.txt. I have tried using the below code which i could found after some googling:
So I am trying to create a Win App to make copying files using Robocopy easier and eventually other tasks. Basically what I have so far is a Button that calls the Sub Robcopy_EXE. There is a tab on the form with 100 check boxes, one for each terminal, that will be designated by the user and a check box to determine if you want a detailed report or not from Robocopy. I also have a text box for the user to input the first 3 octets of the site IP Address. The check boxes and Input field are used to create string "Terminal_input" which is what runs Robocopy in CMD. Robocopy logs its progress to a text file that I have labeled "Status.txt". That is as far as I have gotten.
Can someone please help me create a very very simplistic sample page as the chat page included is too coomplete. something as simple as detecting a change in the database and displaying the word "change" on screen in realtime for any client connected.and I tried creating a global.asax file into which I added in the line mentioned in the link above, but it does not seem to like the word "Setup" in the line [code]
I have a pair of dropdown lists, they are linked in the sense that in it is basically a 2-d array. I have a list of accounts, and a list of domains for each account. So based on which account the user selects from the dropdown, I need to populate the domain list with the appropriate selections. Is there a way I can do this without [code]...
I have a DGV I am working on, and I have many columns.
For example I have Columns colIsDayOff (Checkbox), colStartTime(Time), colEndTime(Time)
What I need to do is if when my DGV loads the data if colIsDayOff is checked, then make the value of the Start and End time columns blank, invisible, or something.
I have this Quiz software that lets you create online multiple choice quizzes which are great for studying (I am in grad school and I'm trying to use everything I can to learn). So the Quiz software is great but it only lets you input questions by hand, one by one. I took a look at the .xml file that the quiz program spits out and came up with the idea to try and make a converter so that I can import many questions at once. I was hoping to try and solve this limitation by doing the following:
Take a .doc that say a tutor gives us with a bunch of practice questions, and then take that into Crimson Editor, and then format it so the question is on line 1, the multiple choice answers are on lines 3,4,5, and 6, (for the next question, the question would be on line 11, and the answers on lines 13, 14, 15, and 16, and so on) and then take that saved .txt file into my program, hit the generate button, and it will spit out the .xml file, and then import that into the quiz software to generate the online quiz.
Here is an attached screenshot of my program layout so far:
I figured out how to open a text file by watching simple youtube tutorials, but I don't know how to have it generate the stuff and have it show up in the bottom text box. I know how to do the coding to convert the txt to proper xml code but I don't know how to be able to save the contents of the bottom text window to an xml file.
its noobish question but i didnt find any solution for it here is my problem : i want to write bites from 2 seprated file (1.txt + 2.txt) into 1 single file(3.txt) but i cant
I have a patient register form in my project...When the patient details will be saved in the database it should also be saved in the text file...I am dynamically creating a folder with patientid and firstname in that folder I am creating a text file patientreg.txt and it should contain the contents of text file....
I have wriiten the below code but I am getting an error.... Dim di As DirectoryInfo = New DirectoryInfo(Application.StartupPath & "" + txtPatientID.Text + txtFName.Text)
I'm in the final stages of finishing a program I've been working on for nearly a year now, and this is basically my final hurdle. The Save dialogue is working beautifully, with 'flags' in order to switch it over from the regular input into text boxes to the Listbox input protocol.
I am writing a simple program that will encrypt the text that is held in a text box and save it to a text file but I want it to be able to open a text file and decrypt the contents.
Ok now all the threads I have read are about reading a text file that is in a preset location.
What I want to do is open a text file that the user selects and have the contents displayed in a text box.
ex.You click a button and it takes you to a whole other form(different buttons, pics, etc.)
ex for scrolling. Adventure game-You walk at the top of the screen and your guy goes up. Maybe it would be easier to have the world move around my guy but 2 playwer woudn't work well with that.
I want that when a form appears, your screen colour changes to red, blue and black, how to do that in VB.net? I'm using Visual Studio 2005. Explain me as I dont; know.
I was wondering how i could change the screen resolution... however I have a few additional requirements..The screen number needs to be passed in (for people with multiple screens)The resolution should be reverted when the application is closed - EVEN IF IT CRASHES - or is killed with "end process tree" (ie no code required to execute to change it back) - like games do Needs to not stuff up desktop icon locations when changing to a smaller resolution
A simple example is: lets say that im trying to make a program that allows you to move the mouse only with the arrows (left/right/up/down) how can i change the position of the mouse on the screen programmatically? If i wanted when you press a button the mouse to change position to X=0,Y=0 of the hole screen/desktop not the window of the form how can i do it? [Code]
How to create a program that detects the screen resolution and change it to 1280x800 or 1024x768? What are the computer requirements to support each of these resolutions. (I don't want for the program to request the user as programs do this especially in Windows Vista, because my program will be created for Windows Vista).
