Insert and update are working fine, when I delete a record in grid it is been deleted but it is not been deleted in database. Once again if I run the application the deleted record is shown.

i delete a record using the dt.Rows[e.RowIndex].Delete method so that i can use the Rowstate property to do a final update on all records the problem arises when i delete a record then go to edit a record the CurrentRow index is incorrect as it still see's the deleted record.
if i delete the first record in the grid, then go to edit the next record (which is now rowIndex 0) i get an error saying unable to update deleted row contents
i then tried to use the defaultView property of the datatable when updating the row - which will update the row on screen but when i go to do the final update it see the modified row as its original deleted rowstate.
How will I transfer deleted record into another table instead of deleting it permanently? I think it is what we call "history"..somehow..For example I have 2 tables. 1 is Original_Record the other is Deleted_Record. I've got an app where the user uploads an image and the app resizes the image three different ways based on different variables. They all use the same image. I can't check to see if it's done using the image so I wondered if there was a way to check to see if the file is writable. A small loop that exits once it becomes writable (or "deleteable"). I have a small database. 2 main tables called CaseDetails and Checks.Each record in CaseDetails can have 3 checks recorded against it in the Checks table. But can only have one check of each type (check types 1, 2, 3).I have 3 linkbuttons which will take the user to the input form for each 'check'. If a 'check' already exists i want to hide the linkbutton that takes the user to that 'check type' input form (the 3 input forms have different fields).So what i need to do, is connect to the SQL database and see if a record exists for each 'check type' and hide the linkbutton to prevent users from entering another record with the same 'check type'?I have tried reading the reults into an array and examining that array, but havent been able to do so.

I am importing alot of data from a text file into an access database with the code below. (From a Comma delimited text file) The problem is that I do not want to import duplicate records. I have the "IDNr" column in my access database set to "not allow duplicates" and need my code to check if there is already a record in the database before trying to import the data. Otherwise it will just give me an error or not import the rest of the data. I could do to make sure that there are no duplicates for the IDNr column?

I am using VS 2008 and MySQL. Which one of the following methods is efficient or a proper one to check if record exists or not before making an attempt to insert.
1. HasRows Property.
2. Select Where Exists
3. Select Count(*)
Or if there is any other appropriate method ( which i am not aware of ) available to do it in vb.net ?
the next code is working but when I try to insert an existing record, it gives me an error and I want to add a msgbox to let people now that the username is already taken.Only the username cannot repeat on the database because it's the primary key.. the rest of the table rows can repeat.

Was wondering how to make it so users can log into the program and this would be much easier since the program allready connects to a database to add a username and password table which i have,how can i get it so when i click a button the program will check with the username specified if its in the data base and check the password of the given username returning a yes value if its right and conuing or exiting if its wrong?

With the code below after the user types in a value beside an int value type then it will go into an Loop through more than what is needed. How can I apply the same logic but allow the program not to check the 60 rows (I set the row size to 60). I want to break out of it if there are blanks ONLY if a row is blank and not for a black cell, because if the user leaves one cell blank then it would loop through the 'for each' for how many rows that they is. Initially there are 60 rows.
