I'm having problems closing Outlook. My code opens Outlook and scans the Inbox but does not close it (as it still appears in the Task Manager). Outlook only closes when I shutdown my app:
I have made a little programme where the user can put in a name to search for a contact. The matches then fill a Datagrid and the user can then choose the one they want and the programm then opens the contact form (from outlook client)The Contact form opens ok, and it brings up the correct contact. If the user then selects the option to "Email" from that from I then get the error message"A Dialog is open" etc...
My code is as follows
Sub GetContact() Dim objOutlook As Outlook.Application Dim objNS As Outlook.NameSpace
[code]....
It seems to be due to Outlook being open or opening?
I know the propertys transparency key and opacity. It isnt what I am looking for. I need to have my form to have the same Glass Effect the as win7 does while runing under win7 plataform. Like, if i have glass effect in the top I should have it in the background.
Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop Public Class Form1 Public Sub SaveAttachments() Dim objOL As Outlook.Application
[code]....

I'm currently in the process of building a text editor type program, and have run into a brick wall. I haven't done VB in years, so I may just need a little reminder on some things. I have coded everything so far as far as opening files, saving them, changing fonts, colors, etc. However, I'm looking to add a Close button to my menu strip that will just close the currently opened file, and not the entire program, while also ask the user if he/she would like to save before closing the file, and then if they select yes, it will show the save dialog, and if not, it will go ahead and close the currently opened item.
I have written a code in VB.NET using "Microsoft Outlook 11.0 Object Library" to create an appointment, task or contact in Outlook. Now the problem is once i create an appointment, task or contact from my VB.NET code and then if i open these item in outlook and modifies and save the content (like body of an appointment) then the lastmodification time of these item doesn't gets modified. It always shows the previous lastmodification time. This happens only for those item which got created from my VB.NET code.
I have tried realsing the COM object in my VB.NET Code.
I work for a somewhat large company. There are about 160 Windows XP Pro users. We are still using Microsoft Office 2000 for the most part.We have upgraded some users to Office 2003. We are not using Microsoft Exchange.I have to export every users' Outlook 2000 or Outlook 2003 Contacts into an Excel or CSV file every 6 months as a way of backing the Outlook Address Contacts.Currently I am doing this by physically going to every pc and manually exporting the contacts. This is a large pain.I am trying to find out if I can use or create a Visual Basic 2008 Express program or script that will export the contacts from Outlook and save it as an Excel or CSV file. The name of the file should be the same as the computers net name.It should be saved in the same location, on the network, each time.I am new to programming and new to VB 2008 Express.I do not know or have any code to start with.
If i use this code to send an e-mail with outlook (2010) from my vb.net app (2008):
Dim app As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application Dim appNameSpace As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook._NameSpace Dim memo As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.MailItem app = New Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application
[code]....
I get an error. It's work fine, when outlook is not running.
I'm working on an application that takes certain outlook email messages, saved as text files, and loads data from them into a database. It would be better if I could read the messages from the inbox directly into my app without the user having to save them as text files. I've searched the web and every example I find is from 2003 or earlier and is using VB6. I'd like to read both Outlook and Outlook Express Inboxes. Can someone either provide me with the code to do this or a good "recent" link with a tutorial?
I'm trying to convert an outlook 2007 add in to an outlook 2010 add in, but I'm running into some problems. One such example is finding the 2010/.net 4.0 replacement for:
My mailbox regularly gets emails from people wanting to promote their events. Usually the subject line looks like this:
fwd: come to *TMC* meeting this weekend, <5/19/2012 @ 1300 >
I need a script to read the date, then make an appointment on my outlook calendar, using that date, time and term (TMC) as the meeting title. So it should make an appointment on 5/19/2012 at 1pm, called "TMC meeting"All appointments are 2 hours by default.I used The identifiers "*" and "<>" as an example, and can be changed to be whatever, what is important is that the meeting gets on my calendar with the correct title.
I have set up a notify icon for my form. I want to make it so that when the user clicks the close button that it doesn't close the form it just takes it to shows the notify icon. They can exit the program from the notify icon. Can someone tell me how to keep it running?
In a program I'm working on, I want a "Loading..." dialog to close when it can't log in to a site using the username and password provided by the user. Basically, I have the code set up right because the function it is supposed to carry out when that occurs does work, but for some reason it ends up in some really weird stuff happening. In the Loading form, I have it set to do "Form1.Show()" and then "Me.Close()", assuming it would simply show the login form and then close the Loading form. However, when this happens, the Loading form closes, and then for only an instant Form1 shows, and then the Loading form shows and Form1 closes. This happens forever until I stop the debugging, and I can't seem to figure out why. Am I using the wrong method? What exactly does Me.Close() do anyways? All I want to do is close the form and open another
sometimes, when I use Form.close() when debugging my program, although the form is closed, the application is still running. I noticed this behaviour when using the msgbox function.
I have a situation where me.close() doesn't close the form. I have a form with a button with the code seen below. What happens when the button is clicked is the new form shows, but the original form(calling form) is still there. When I go into debug mode, I can see the me.close() execute, but nothing happens (calling form stays open). When I close the second form both forms close. If I comment out the call for the second form to open the first form closes without problem.

I have a winform, VBExpress 2008 with a single button and this code behind it to illustrate the problem:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click OpenFileDialog1.ShowDialog() MsgBox(OpenFileDialog1.FileName) End Sub
i have a application based on Visual Basic platform.. where Enter key action as Tab key ,, which ease the enter key to move from field to field, rather than the tab key.. its works perfectly in Winxp ... but i'm having problem in Windows7 ultimate..
Depending on what component is handling the print for you, some of them are not 64 bit ready (i.e. 32 bit only). To use them you must compile your application as 32 bit only. It will then run on the WOW platform that Win7 supplies.
You change this option on the PropertiesCompile screen. Press Advanced Compile Options and review Target CPU:
I mean not like windows xp which the number and signs are not in the same textbox, but like windows 7 which you can see the whole calculation before pressing equal, and i don't think that compute.datatable can do this because it's limited with the basic signs(+,-,/,*) and it doesn't include the other signs(like : sin,^,root, log), so how to make a calculator like windows 7 one?
this code is for win7 is there a way to work it on xp pro sp3
Imports CoreAudioApi Public Class Main Private _device As MMDevice
Private Sub Main_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim devEnum As New MMDeviceEnumerator_device = devEnum.GetDefaultAudioEndpoint(EDataFlow.eRender, ERole.eMultimedia)Timer1.Enabled = True End Sub
Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick pkMaster.Value = CInt(_device.AudioMeterInformation.MasterPeakValue * 100) End Sub
I used VB6 to create an EXE file that uses MSComm1.The program runs OK in my XP computer and also in my Win7 computer (that has VBE installed). It would not run on my Vista laptop. I installed the VB runtime files (even though Microsoft says they are not compatible with Vista/Win7) but with no success. However, when I installed VBE on the laptop, it now runs the EXE quite happily.Does installing VBE also install a different set of runtime files? Is it posible to distribute my program to my friends who have Vista or Win 7, without them having to first install VBE?
