View 3 RepliesI work for a somewhat large company.There are about 160 Windows XP Pro users. We are still using Microsoft Office 2000 for the most part.We have upgraded some users to Office 2003. We are not using Microsoft Exchange.I have to export every users' Outlook 2000 or Outlook 2003 Contacts into an Excel or CSV file every 6 months as a way of backing the Outlook Address Contacts.Currently I am doing this by physically going to every pc and manually exporting the contacts.This is a large pain.I am trying to find out if I can use or create a Visual Basic 2008 Express program or script that will export the contacts from Outlook and save it as an Excel or CSV file.The name of the file should be the same as the computers net name.It should be saved in the same location, on the network, each time.I am new to programming and new to VB 2008 Express.I do not know or have any code to start with.
View 8 RepliesI'm working on an application that takes certain outlook email messages, saved as text files, and loads data from them into a database. It would be better if I could read the messages from the inbox directly into my app without the user having to save them as text files. I've searched the web and every example I find is from 2003 or earlier and is using VB6. I'd like to read both Outlook and Outlook Express Inboxes. Can someone either provide me with the code to do this or a good "recent" link with a tutorial?

I've been using the redemption.dll to do operations to handle emails, I just can't figure out how to count emails in the inbox. Redemption examples would be preferable, but I'll take any kind of example at this point!

View 2 RepliesI have a macro written in VB in Excel, which reads emails from Outlook. I would like to automatize this process, but everytime, when Excel wants to access the outlook, I have to give permition to do that, see http://apophis.wz.cz/permition.PNG (It's in czech, but you will see the point). Is there any way to give this permition for ever? Or for long time, such as 10 hours? (I can choose max. 10 minutes).

View 6 RepliesI work with a large shared mailbox within which several individuals each have a folder of their own. I am trying to develop a tool which will monitor how many emails each individual has in their own folder including a breakdown of what categories have been applied to each email (IE In my Subfolder there are 20 Emails - 10 Blue, 5 Red).I have already coded a prototype but so far I have only been able to get a general count working not a breakdown of categories.Does anybody know if this is possible? I have searched a see lots of code for setting the category with VBA but none for querying it.
View 2 RepliesAt my job we have about 800+ customers. They send their orders which we receive through public folders that we have set up. I would to create a program that would count the emails in each public folder and send the output to a spreadsheet. Having trouble getting the count.
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to cycle thru the emails in an Outlook Inbox, but strangely, when my code cycles thru each individual email, the order of each in the FOR....IN.... loop is non-sensicle. The loop seems to start from the email in the middle of the list, cycles down to the end, then starts at the last email received and cycles down from there. When viewed in Outlook and sorted by latest email first and descending, the emails seems to be in order. This is my code:

Should I have to sort the emails first by received date descending? If so, how do I do that? If you look at my code, I have attempted that but it doesn't seem to work.
I have written a code in VB.NET using "Microsoft Outlook 11.0 Object Library" to create an appointment, task or contact in Outlook. Now the problem is once i create an appointment, task or contact from my VB.NET code and then if i open these item in outlook and modifies and save the content (like body of an appointment) then the lastmodification time of these item doesn't gets modified. It always shows the previous lastmodification time. This happens only for those item which got created from my VB.NET code.
I have tried realsing the COM object in my VB.NET Code.
If i use this code to send an e-mail with outlook (2010) from my vb.net app (2008):

Dim appNameSpace As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook._NameSpace
Dim memo As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.MailItem
app = New Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.Application
[code]....
I get an error. It's work fine, when outlook is not running.

I'm trying to connect up Outlook Express to gmail. Ihave inspiron 9100 with the XP sp2 system. I don't have access to anything else. I think the problem is around gmails inbox parameters but I'm unsure. All I'm sure of is that I am unable to read mail. I have full privileges under this copy of XP.
View 18 RepliesAt present I have wrote an application (in-house CRM, vb .net 2010) which allows me to send emails under the selected customer & I categorised these emails.As these are categorised I can return data to display email history in my program by using search criteria:
Dim oMail As Outlook.MAPIFolder = oNS.GetDefaultFolder(Outlook.OlDefaultFolders.olFolderSentMail)
Dim sSearch As String
sSearch = "[Categories] = '" + "[" + tAccount.Text.Trim + "]" + "(" + tShipTo.Text.Trim + ")'"
Dim oItems As Outlook.Items = oMail.Items.Restrict(sSearch)
However the limitation to the above is it only looks at sent items & no other folder.My ideal solution would be to display all email correspondence for a certain contact.
My mailbox regularly gets emails from people wanting to promote their events. Usually the subject line looks like this:
fwd: come to *TMC* meeting this weekend, <5/19/2012 @ 1300 >
I need a script to read the date, then make an appointment on my outlook calendar, using that date, time and term (TMC) as the meeting title. So it should make an appointment on 5/19/2012 at 1pm, called "TMC meeting"All appointments are 2 hours by default.I used The identifiers "*" and "<>" as an example, and can be changed to be whatever, what is important is that the meeting gets on my calendar with the correct title.
How to get the appointments from a pst file without outlook installed. d party API as long as it's free (unlike independetsoft).

View 1 RepliesI couldn't find an appropriate forum which would suit the type of problem I am facing so I am putting it here.I needed to create an intranet web application that has pages with hyperlinks to eml files. The eml files as is known are email files in MIME format which outlook express can open. However what I found was if eml files are on your machine, it opens in outlook express but when opened as an hyperlink, it opens in Internet Explorer (IE) as an mhtml file. And any attachments that may be in the eml file are not displayed at all!I didn't understand why IE has to poke inbetween. After searching the net, I came across a solution that required changes in the Registry of the client machine.The change is to be made to the node HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTMIMEDatabaseContent Typemessage/rfc822.The following is a REG file that can be imported for this change.[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTMIMEDatabaseContent ypemessage/rfc822]"extension"=".eml""CLSID"=""However after this change, though eml files opened in Outlook express, MHT files stopped opening in IE.Then I simply deleted the rfc822 node and to my surprise, MHT files opened in IE and eml files opened in outlook express and everything was fine!!But I don't want to use this sledge hammer solution. I want to know what this registry key is for and how can I set it to achieve what I want . i.e. open eml files from web pages in outlook express without affecting other file types
