Code - Error Which Says Failed To Convert Parameter Value From A String To A Int32
Oct 2, 2009
I have this code but the problem is that I get an error which says "Failed to convert parameter value from a String to a Int32." Here is the code that I am using:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim conn As New OleDb.OleDbConnection
conn.ConnectionString = "PROVIDER=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source = C:Documents and Settings1B09158My DocumentsUser.mdb"
conn.Open()
This question is based on VS 2008 using VB I have a detail Window form which is bound to a SQLServer table using a BindingSource &TableAdapter. The Table is mostly Text & Date fields with the Table Key has an Identity field
I have an update query and I'm receiving the error "Failed to convert parameter value from a String to a Int32."
I'm assuming this is because of a format issue... I'm using Text and Date formats. I've tried a few things but I'm not sure exactly what is causing this error.[code]...
i am trying to save data from unbound datagridview to sql database.Failed to convert parameter value from a String to a Int32. The following is my
Private Sub btnPlace_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnPlace.Click ' Modify the following code to correctly connect to your SQL Server.
I'd like to see what is about to be sent to the SQL Server from my SqlCommand before SQLCmd.ExecuteNonQuery() runs.
I'm trying to debug because I am receiving the following error: System.FormatException: Failed to convert parameter value from a String to a Int32.
Normally, I would use SQL Server Profiler to view what is being sent to SQL Server, but my statement is not making it that far. Is there a way to determine what it is trying to convert? I am having problems determining which parameter is causing the error.
I am getting an error - "Failed to convert parameter value from a String to a Int32"
Background Information: Table: Customer Fields: CustomerID, Title, Forename, surname, street, town, country, postal code, home phone, mobile phone, work phone, email.
All the data types in this are Strings with the exception of CustomerID. Table: Country Fields: CountryID, Country CountryID = Integer, Country = String
There is a relationship between country.country and customer.country. I have made country a combo box with the contents of country inside it. This problem is resolved if I remove country as an input - but I need it in!
To be able to sort a dictionary by value I'm using this code:
Dim idCurrentJobs As IDictionary(Of String, Int32) = New Dictionary(Of String, Int32) 'The string in the dictionary represents a jobname and the integer is a counter for how many jobs im currently are running in the application' idCurrentJobs.Add("JobName1", 2)
I am trying to store a time from my textbox field value but I got this exception error,Failed to convert parameter value from a TimeSpan to a DateTime.[code]
I am playing around building a VB.net windows forms app.Mostly going well, but when I do executenonquery I am getting the error:Failed to convert parameter value from string to int32. I am unclear where the problem is but here is my code......
Private Sub cmdClockIn_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles cmdClockIn.Click Dim empNum As Integer = Convert.ToInt32(frmMain.txtEmpID.Text)
I created a typed dataset a day or so ago, then I added a whole bunch of tableadapter/tables with some relationships etc... suddenly out of nowhere it decides my dataset "is not defined". everywhere in my code where i use this dataset now has an error. I tried not to pull out my hair and do a Clean then Rebuild solution... out of nowhere it just refuses to generate code. Object reference not set to an instance of an Object. It would be nice if it was my object so i could find it but it's not.
Curiously I also lost the little database icon on the dataset in the solution explorer.I can still open it in the designer and preview my queries etc... it just wont make the code. it's driving me insane. anyone got a solution?
This code blow give me this error: Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string.
Code sqlstr = "select excute_main.*,cycle_main.cust_id,customers.name2 from excute_main,customers,cycle_main where date2 between '" & Format(MaskedTextBox1.Text, "MM-dd-yyyy") & "' and '" & Format(MaskedTextBox2.Text, "MM-dd-yyyy") & "' and excute_main.main_id=cycle_main.id and cycle_main.cust_id=customers.id"
I wrote the code below which calculates the length of a line on the form and save record. An error occurs when the programme tries to save the record. It gives me "Cannot perform '=' operation on System.Int32 and System.String" error. I checked the data type of "ID"(int), "Microscope"(Varchar), "Magnification"(int) and "Calibration"(Decimal), and they are fine so far as I know.
Code: Private Sub btnEnd_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnEnd.Click 'Check if the length textbox is not empty
For those who still have lots of legacy code as I do in .NET 1.1, has anyone found a solution for this issue[url]...
The directory given in the command line will not exist, which makes sense given the error message. The problematic part is that everything works with a full rebuild. Since the "work around" is so easy, Microsoft of course is not going to fix the problem for .net 1.1.
To everyone who pre-emptively suggests an upgrade to .net 2.0+, that is not an acceptable solution, due to time limits and resources. To those who say that is not an acceptable excuse, go find another thread, not every company is perfect.
I am trying to connect to the Oracle 10g(32bit) database through my Visual Studio 8 Team System(64bit) on my Windows 7 Home Basic(64 bit), ihave already downloaded and installed the oracle data provider for .net(64bit) but still the error that i am reciecing is "OCIEnvCreate failed with return code -1 but error message text was not available." i run the program as administrator with all the permission for registries access. My code is as follows
I want to reflect the bit patterns in 2 x int16 (an upper and lower 16 bits) into a single int 32. how can this be done, is bit converter what I am looking for?

What does this mean? I have this error after i tried to add a database to my project in vb.net.If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room
The error is: Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string.Basically I'm trying to make it so that when someone clicks a location in a list box it increments the correct field in a Stats table by 1 to say that they clicked the location. I've been trying to solve this for a while now and can't get anywhere. My date is in date format, and so is the Date field in my Stats table. My code can be seen below.
Dim Current As String Dim Check As String Dim objCmd2 As Object
[code]....
The issue comes in with the second SQL statement I think. I don't understand why adding a date into a date field would be an issue, I've tried adding it as a string which didn't work.
Dim i as integer For i = 0 to 365 sqlinsert.InsertCommand="insert into cashdate (date) values (getdate()+'" & i & "')"[code]....
getdate is a function in the database that returns the datetime of now i have an error that says conversion failed when converting date or time from character string .what to do now ??
there is one search button to see the report on datagridview using year..so when the more items are there in database correspond it year(say 2012)... the above exception is thrown by filling the datgridview,the problem happens when it tries to connect with crystal report,it shows error...Remember that i face this problem only if there are more records in my database(exactly more than 100 rows)...when i delete few rows from the database,it works fine..I have created a table and added that table to a dataset,then assigned that table1 as datasource for crystal report

I get the following exception for the code shown below. The error occurs when i request access token.I downloaded the latest dll(2.3.1) from the twitterizer website.
{"Value cannot be null. Parameter name: String"} Dim OAuthTokens As New OAuthTokens Dim accessToken As New Twitterizer.OAuthTokenResponse accessToken = OAuthUtility.GetAccessToken(ConsumerKey, ConsumerSecretkey, "oauth_token", "oauth_verifier")
I am not the one who developed this tool, it's the previous programmer and they gave the project to me to update it however, when I try to run the application in my local computer I am getting this error: Argument not specified for parameter 'XLSFile' of 'Public Sub New(XMLFile As String, XLSFile As String)'.
The error points to the code below in bold letter:
Protected Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Zym.ConnectionString = Web.Configuration.WebConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("cnworkload").ConnectionString 'Dim cn As System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection = New System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection(Zym.ConnectionString) 'Dim DA As New System.Data.SqlClient.SqlDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM SUMMARY_WORKLOAD", cn)
Unable to cast object of type 'System.Int32' to type 'System.String'.
when doing a routine LINQ to SQL query:
Return ( From n In DbContext.Newsletters Where n.NewsletterID = NewsletterID
[Code]....
How is it possible that an Int32 can't be cast to String? How can I debug something this? Since it all happens deep in the bowels of LINQ, I can't even get any indication what field this is angry about.
where i put the *'s i get the error "The parameter 'address' cannot be an empty string. Parameter name: address".
