Jan 28, 2011I'd like to see what is about to be sent to the SQL Server from my SqlCommand before SQLCmd.ExecuteNonQuery() runs.
I'm trying to debug because I am receiving the following error:
System.FormatException: Failed to convert parameter value from a String to a Int32.
Normally, I would use SQL Server Profiler to view what is being sent to SQL Server, but my statement is not making it that far. Is there a way to determine what it is trying to convert? I am having problems determining which parameter is causing the error.

Background Information:
Table: Customer
Fields: CustomerID, Title, Forename, surname, street, town, country, postal code, home phone, mobile phone, work phone, email.
All the data types in this are Strings with the exception of CustomerID.
Table: Country
Fields: CountryID, Country
CountryID = Integer, Country = String
There is a relationship between country.country and customer.country. I have made country a combo box with the contents of country inside it. This problem is resolved if I remove country as an input - but I need it in!

May 14, 2009I am working on a timekeeping application in VB 2008 and need to show elapsed time in hours and minutes. I have no problem eliminating seconds but if the hours exceed 24 the time is displayed as days.hours:minutes and what I need is to show (for instance) 30 hours and 15 minutes as 30:15 not 1.6:15
Is there a better way then using code like:
strHours = (TimeSpan.Days * 24) + TimeSpan.Hours
strMinutes = TimeSpan.Minutes
strTotalTime = strHours & ":" & strMinutes

Sep 23, 2009Let just say I have an Integer like 10,000 (that's the VALUE in want to reach). So, I have another integer like 2500 (that's my current VALUE). Third I have another Integer about 350 PER HOUR. To reach 10,000 I need 7,500 (well I already have 2,500). How long must I wait to reach the 10,000 when the increase is about 350 a Hour. Okay, that's easy: 7,500 / 350 = 21,428571 Hours. BUT how can I convert this double to a timespan? Or how is it possible to add this double value to the current Date to get the Date + Time when I reach the Value?

Feb 11, 2011I have two datetimepickers on my form to set a start date and end date for a SQL server database query. I am passing these dates with parameters to my query from the .Value of the datetimepickers. When I run the program, the code returns an error of "Conversion failed when converting datetime from character string" I am not converting anything in my code. It is my understanding that the StartDatePicker.Value is already a datetime and does not require conversion.

Sql Datetime Parameter Rounding?
Sep 28, 2010My question is with regards to SqlCommand parameters in VB.NET. I have a database table which contains a datetime column, and I am trying to return all records between a daterange / time. I am using the syntax 'WHERE recordDate BETWEEN @StartDate AND @EndDate', and specifying the parameters using sqlComm.parameters.addwithvalue("EndDate", datetimeVar), etc.
My issue here is that when my datetimeVar contains '8/31/2010 11:59:59 PM', it ends up getting rounded to '9/1/2010'. I can only tell this by the results I am getting back, which include the records from '9/1/2010 12:00:00 AM'.
Am I missing something here or is this a bug? The parameter is of type DateTime, and the value is correct at runtime. In the meantime I have no issues if I write the datetime into the sql string itself ('WHERE recordDate BETWEEN '" & datetimeVar
& "' AND ...), but obviously I would prefer to use parameters for this.
C# - DateTime Nullable Exception As A Parameter?
May 8, 2009I have a Search Form that can search by a few different fields. The problem field is birthDate. On the form it is a string. In the SQL 2005 db it is a DateTime that can be null.
The code below is sequential as far as declaring the variable on the form and then setting it. Then the call to the BLL and then the call to the DAL.

Apr 26, 2010I have a requirement that regardless of the start and dates that I need to loop through that timespan and calculate figures at the month level. I cannot seem to figure it out, and maybe it is not possible, but I would like to do something like:
FOREACH Month As TimeSpan in ContractRange.Months
Do Calculations (Month.Start, Month.End)
NEXT
Is this possible or do I need to calculate the number of months, and just iterate through the amount of months and calculate the start/end of that month based on my index?

VS 2008 : Passing MySQL Parameter As Object Instead Of DateTime?
Jun 13, 2011I am having trouble with a mySQL query with the .NET connector. When I create the query, it automatically creates my parameters as objects. I usually change the type to the correct type, which in this case is Date, but I get different results passing in the parameter as a date.When I do "Preview Query" as an object, I get the correct results, but bad results as a Date. I would just leave them as objects, but it errors out when I try to pass a date in.Here's the part of my query that I'm having trouble with:
