Com - Interfacing 32-bit And 64-bit Code ?

I have a 64-bit project(which has to be 64-bit as it is an Outlook 2010/64 bit addin) that needs to interface with another Dll of mine, whose job it is to scrape file metadata out of files using the windows Shell32 dll. Now, as you may of guessed, this is posing compatibility problems as I am crossing that 64/32 bit boundary.
I read an article (ok skimmed it, whatever) and from what I understand, it suggested that I use COM as an intermediary and to bridge this gap. So, My question is, can I build a shim DLL in say VB6 (i know, i know) that would act as my com reference and pass the calls on to my 32-bit dll from my 64-bit addin?
Do I create a VB6 COM Dll, reference my .NET assembly and pass all Public functions out via a similar interface, then reference the VB6 dll in my 64-bit addin? is it just that easy?

I have a small windows app in vb.net, which reads the file header from the database of table header,I need help to allow it to compare the header of any given file to be read using BinaryReader and then compare the value with the table containing the header's of all filetype's now, i am stuck as how do i create the link between the table to be compared against the selected file. i have two tables currently username, and password only which is for validation?

I'm trying to interface .NET (C# or VB doesn't matter) with a Siemens PLC S7 200. I can't however get a connection set up. I'm working on a Win7 64bit machine but can't seem to get it working on 32bit either. I got two files:
Interop.OPCSiemensDAAutomation.dll
Siemens_s7-200.dll
From another project which I'm trying to migrate to a newer system. However I get a com exception all the time.

I've already tried libnodave and can't seem to get that working either.
I couldn't get Siemens PC-Access to install on this machine, will try on a WinXP 32bit later. I read something about I need an OPC server or something on the machine?

I am trying to interface with a Sylvac Gage over the Serial Port, but I can not get read any information sent by the gage.I am using the IO.Ports.SerialPort Object (called serialPort), and I can successfully write to the device. Is it possible to make a virtual interface represents the value of an input? For example, if we have a program shows the level of a liquid in a tank and we want to represent the level virtually: as the calculated value of the level increases, the level (and color) filled in the tank shown, increases as well. Example: If the value is 100, the tank ( a rectangular ) will be shown full and green. If it is 0, will be shown empty and red.

im doing a school project, which is to create an interfacing software for the micromouse. one of the task is to list all the calibrated values in the mouse from hyperterminal to the "textbox"s in my vb program. In the hyperterminal, normally when i pressed "3" and "enter", it will wonderfully display all the values that are calibrated in the mouse. But when i try to list values from a button i programmed in VB, only 1 or 2 values are shown.... why? this are the codes for the button to list value

Introduction: Probably a year or more ago I asked if was possible to use the Mathematical functions in Windows Calculator or use any DLL file it may use without a satisfactory answer. As I require the greater accuracy of Windows Calculator in String format. Would it be easy to keep switching between a Vb.Net Form windows based application and Windows Calculator and, using SendKeys, get results back to a Vb.Net application using Copy & Paste via the clipboard but to do this in an automatic fashion at all please?
What I am particularly interested in is getting Log10 or LogN results and also doing ARC or INVerse LOG10 or INVerse LogN calculations. But I require the greater accuracy of windows Calculator. Additionally, would it be possible to assign a keyboard keymap to each key in Windows Calculator so that, for example, the L key would be assigned to clicking the LOG10 button, ALT for the Hyp checkbox, SHIFT for the INV checkbox and so on?So imagine sending key sequences to Windows Calculator to completely automate it. And Windows Calculator has been updated too in WINDOWS 7, would that make it any easier to work with?

this code was not done by me originally and there are some thigns here i dont quite understand i have altered it a bit from my coworkers code to suit my data and it works. but too slow. and when i have 4000+kb excel files it might freeze altogether. ( I have checked tho that when and after this transposer runs it will still be within the excel row limit, i had done calculations before and made a macro to automatically split excel files based on number of columns and rows to make sure this is so ). This code seems to start out fast then goes slower the longer it runs. at least this is what it seems liek to me.

I recently found this code (provided for third party use on another VB site), however,ll of my attempts to insert it into a class library have failed.I open a new class library and past the code in, and immediately get several errors pertaining to how certain objects can't be found. I find it it is crucial to use this code, unless someone can suggest to me another example of existing code that will do the same thing: make a restricted textbox who imputs can be restricted, that can handle pasting, shortcuts, text property setting, and script-entered text.

I had a weird series of errors involving e.Graphics.DrawString() when painting a panel.I am using a barcode font [Code 128] with a library that converts text to the proper format for Barcode readers.That's fine, however, when I draw it to the panel, that's where things stop being fine:But, here's where things get funky. When I put it into a TextBox instead of drawing it via Graphics.DrawString(), everything is peachy:In fact, the TextBox one looks much better than the Graphics.DrawString() one! I realize this post is rather long, but I wanted to give all the information up front instead of people having to ask me for more information.At the end of the re-installation of Visual Studio 2008, there is this message:
"Microsoft SQL Publishing Wizard: [2] Error: Installation failed for component Microsoft SQL Publishing Wizard. MSI returned error code 1638" in the log file dd_error_vs_procore_90.txt.
I have searched on Google for this whole message and found some references to this error, but I have done what they said worked for them and it did not fix the problem for me.When I searched for just "MSI returned error code 1638", I got that it cannot install something because it is already installed:"Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel".In Add/Remove Programs I see these two programs:

Microsoft SQL Server Database Publishing Wizard 1.4
Are these programs/versions what the error is refering to? Am I safe to remove them and depend on the similarly-named item which would be newly installed with Visual Studio 2008 - "Microsoft SQL Publishing Wizard"? I still use SQL Server 2000 and 2005 on my computer, as well as 2008. I had installed VS 2008 on my computer before without this problem and also have VS 2005 and 2010.

I'm using ASP.net 4.0 VB,I am using a session variable to add a user entered code into the url of each page. I can get the code to show up at the end of the page's URL that my textbox is on, but what do I add to every page to make sure that the session stays at the end of every URL that person visits during their session? In my project, I have a local dataset (XSD) that I am using as local-temporary tables. I am getting a System.InvalidCastException when trying to access the field in one the tables. I believe this is because I my code is (incorrectly) not setting a field's value in a row before trying to access it.My problem is that the exception is breaking in the designer file and not in my code. As a result, I'm having difficulting determining which line of my code reading the field value before it has been set. Is there any way to configure Visual Studio to break in my code instead of in the designer created file?
