I have a program that runs some code when i click a button on a form when done running the application ends. I want to automaticaly run the code when the users clicks on the exe. I have put the code that i want to run in the startup forms load event but that doesn't start

View 5 RepliesHere is the problem: I have written an application that opens an excel file, copys a chart to the clipboard, then closes the excel file. It works fine except under a very special condition. If the user has an excel file open and then runs my application, the open excel file closes. To make this more confusing, if the user then reopens an excel file and runs my application again, everything works fine. It will continue to work fine untill the user reboots his or her computer. Then it will occur again one time

I wonder if you can help. I have an intranet with about 2000 photos on it. A lot of these photos were not compressed when uploaded so can be upwards of 4 or 5MB in size.
Is there a script/tool I can run to go through the directory one image by one and automatically and compress each images to say 100k or percentage of the current file size, then save and close the file with the same name?

All Information that a customer may need is on this CD, they can Download PDF's and Drawings and even save some Software Apps that may be needed onto the user's Hard Drive, but the CD App running is never installed onto a computer.

View 10 RepliesI have a little program that I wrote to translate an Excel spreadsheet into a text file and pass it to another application. We found out Friday that if you give it a spreadsheet ina bad format, theprogram just hangs up: no errors and no more processing.It hangs and never finishes processing. If the format is correct, no problems.I wanted to add error logic to catch this condition.So after the try to open the spreadsheet, the first thing I do is check this one cell and if it is not right, it creates and error message, sets an indicator for the error,and closes the workbook.It hangs up on the close of the workbook.A spreadsheet with the expected format closes just fine. I even copied the close statement up to follow the detection of the error, but it hangs just like it did at a different point in the program.
I have been trying to copy the code here, but the question ends up either blank or doesn't get posted at all.The workbook is defined by oWB=oXL.Workbooks.Open("Excel.Application"). oWB.Close() is what hangs. That same code does not hang if the format is correct. How can the contents of the file affect the closing of it?
First off I am so VB.NET green it's pitiful. I am a AutoCAD Manager and I need to start migrating my VBA code to VB.NET. That being said, I am very familar with VBA,and some asp.net, and trying to use that knowledge to self-train in .net. The trouble I'm having is communicating between the various objects in .net. That being said, here is the first of many issues.
Currently, I am working on a file processing program that checks a user selected folder for .dwg files. I'm attempting to use FolderBrowserDialog activated using a "Browse" button , and can't seem to, first get the dialog to show a folder structure from the FolderBrowserDialog object and second, get the initial dialog code to take the "SelectedPath" method. Error "SelectedPath is not a member of "folderbrowser"

View 39 RepliesWe are trying to modify a program to control a usb relay device. Essentially what the program originally does is give you a series of check boxes that you check to make the relay fire. We tried to modify the code so that the box is checked after 5 seconds using a counter and an if statement. It works, but only partially, what happens is the check box shows a check, but the even that is normally triggered does not happen.

But when I add an instance of that datagridview onto a form, in the form.design.vb there are many code defines for each columns and then sometimes adds additional code to create those columns again. Sometime when I delete the datagridview control in the form,that code is not deleted.

But when I drag and drop my component from the toolbox to a form it auto generates Me.Randtest1.Items.AddRange(...) in the Designer which uses static numbers. I have been working on them and adding to them for several months. Out of nowhere, one of the subs in my project is not recognizing updated code. I had a for loop in there that was acting funny so I changed something and noticed no difference. I messed with it for a while and decided to just replace everything in that sub with a simple msgbox and it still tries to run the code that was previously there. I have built the solution, rebuilt it, cleaned it, closed and reopened it, removed the bin and obj folders and restarted my computer several times. This is not a server program or anything dealing with IIS or anything like that.

View 2 RepliesI have an application that checks the available disk space on the host machine and, if the free space is less than some constant, calls a batch which e-mails people who should be notified about such things using sendemail.exe.The VB code works properly, calling the .bat exactly as it's supposed to, and the .bat (when run independantly) works properly, sending of a lovely e-mail.But, when I put them together, the batch file reports that "'sendemail' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.".I'm well aware of how the PATH variable works and have been sure that the path to the .bat is within PATH (hence why it works when I just run it from the command prompt). I can only assume that, somehow, PATH does not apply to processes run from VB.NET for some reason.

But it would still just be in a text file in my.resources.I was thinking maybe i would have to have it read the file then use CodeDOM and run that..
