I wonder if you can help. I have an intranet with about 2000 photos on it. A lot of these photos were not compressed when uploaded so can be upwards of 4 or 5MB in size.
Is there a script/tool I can run to go through the directory one image by one and automatically and compress each images to say 100k or percentage of the current file size, then save and close the file with the same name?
I have a program that runs some code when i click a button on a form when done running the application ends. I want to automaticaly run the code when the users clicks on the exe. I have put the code that i want to run in the startup forms load event but that doesn't start
View 2 RepliesRecently I uninstalled and reinstalled Visual Studio 2008. Before that, Visual Studio compress images that I put in the Resources folder. In this folder I put images in PNG format for use in the project. When I was compiling the project, the executable was of a size much smaller than the sum of the bytes of the images as they were compressing in the compilation. The sum of the size of the images gives a 47MB, and the file compiled with the images was around 3.5 MB. But now the images are not compressed. For the resulting executable with the build is about 48 MB ... I'm deducing the problem is because the images were not compressed ...is it so?
View 5 RepliesI have a program I made in vb.net express 2008 that used java.utils.zip to compress my work files to a Zip archive that I ran occassionaly to have a backup. I worked fine, but with net framework 4 and vb.net 2010 it doesn't work. So I modified it to use sharpziplib and it works fine if all files on the filter list in the folder are closed, but if I have a file open in OpenOffice writer, my program can't access it and won't create the zip file. The file that usually stays open all the time is my TODO list, that is updated several times a day , so usually gets printed, and updated( adding or deleting entries), without closing it.

Just as if you clicked on the ComboBox. I was considering PerformClick but the only problem is, I believe PerformClick is only available for the Button and no other control.

I put them up on my website.on this one, I want to make the startup form (login.vb) like a login form.I have a template and I was wondering, instead of using an aspx.net authentication thing, could I just save it to "C:\Program Files\Facebook\users(hidden)\log.txt" and then, when the login button is clicked, it will check to see if the textbox's match the texts in the directory, and if they are correct, then It will open browser.vb? Also I looked for this sort of code, but all I could find was openfiledialogs and savefiledialogs, but I need it to run "in the background" just for verification.
I dont care that people can just click show hidden folders and then have the passwords, because it really doesn't have anything inportant in it. Also an Override account like Admin would be useful.
The below code works fine to export data from a datagrid to excel spreadsheet. Is it possible to incorporate an auto email (outlook) so that I can automatically send the spreadsheet to my manager lets say his email is abc@xyz.co.uk. But for some reason, it is displaying the image twice inside that panel. Could someone please tell me how to get it to only display the offset image in the panel? We tried to modify the code so that the box is checked after 5 seconds using a counter and an if statement. It works, but only partially, what happens is the check box shows a check, but the even that is normally triggered does not happen.

But when I add an instance of that datagridview onto a form, in the form.design.vb there are many code defines for each columns and then sometimes adds additional code to create those columns again. Sometime when I delete the datagridview control in the form,that code is not deleted.
I build a component class it extends a combo box and generates some random numbers. But when I drag and drop my component from the toolbox to a form it auto generates Me.Randtest1.Items.AddRange(...) in the Designer which uses static numbers. I am currently new to visual basic and I am using Microsoft Visual Basic 2010. I am trying to create a small game in which i want to use 8 images. These images are imported in my resources under images as _0.gif _2.gif up to _7.gif. I could write code for each of the imageboxes individually but i prefer doing it in an array as shown below. As you can see I use the variable "i" to run a for, next loop.
