I have a console application, and its supposed to check if you type a certain thing, then it does it.

can someone give a example of doing bubble sorting with numbers the simplest way if possible.all i know is that it uses a boolean to stop sorting, a variable which records how many swaps are done in a run if its 0 it stops swapping but other than that i dont know how to write a program doing bubble sorting?
my teacher didnt give me any examples of bubble sorting other than a algorithm, and before u ask no its not for homework i am looking bck at my computing notes and i just dont understand any of it!

I have a simple console application which consists of a single executable and a DLL file. My project has a reference to the DLL. My question is how do I ensure the DLL is present in the same directory and prevent the console app from crashing? Although in reality the two files will probably never be separated, I want to make sure someone can diagnose the error without me there.
At first I tried adding File.Exists(PathToDLL) at the beginning of Sub Main(). If the file wasn't found, I was going to display a message and quit the application. But apparently if the DLL is referenced at any point in the code, a System.IO.FileNotFoundException is thrown regardless if the line is executed.
Is there some way to handle this in the executable itself without creating another executable to load that one?

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to create my own type of spider/search engine thing for fun. I start with a URL, then grab the HTML ...from that I have a REGEX that is supposed to pull out all the links. I figured I would randomly pick one of those and keep going as I save the HTML to my database.[URL]...You can see that I get some real URLS and sometimes I get back some that are not. NOW I return these to a RichTextBox and on the REAL URLs, these get formatted in blue and make a HAND icon when you float over them. This makes me believe that something SOMEWHERE knows that these are good url's. That would be a good thing to tap into so that I could get rid of everything in that box that is not a real URL.

This is no problem I've got that all working perfectly, the only problem I have is that the console is showing while the application is running, I was wondering whether anyone knows any way in which I would be able to hide the console before it gets shown to the user.

I have all of the code written but when I run the program it pops up the console window and then immediatley exits so I am unable to read what is in the window to see if my program is operating correctly. View 7 RepliesIt sounds confusing but it's not really. What I need is basically a way to emulate the console style text, without using a console. What I'm really doing is trying to do a matrix effect on my form background, by drawing symbols and moving them, alternating their colors (see this video for what I mean).
Is there a way to do this effectively with a timer and a draw event, with the timer calling the draw event and changing the intervals?
I want it to check for my DLL in the same directory. If it's not there, the application should exit gracefully.I thought this code would work but it still crashes without the DLL. Although it will not crash if I comment out everything after the IF statement.

View 1 RepliesWe currently have +- 20 different console application developed in VS2008 and running at different scheduled intervals, all controlled by Windows schedular. The problem we have come accross is that it is becoming increasingly difficult to manage and maintain these console apps. In some instances a console app will just fail or never run to start with and this creates a lot of problems. In many cases one console app is dependant on another and if 1st one fails well...you see where this is going.
I am looking for a new solution that will help us to trace, debug and manage these console apps better. We are preferably looking for a gui front end, maybe windows app where we can set the intervals for them to sun and view some error reports if they did not run.We are port all the code for the console apps to which ever new appliocation we develop.

I'm having a problem with converting from one source type to a destination type. I have a form with 2 buttons (button 2 uses the OpenFileDialog to have the user open an excel file set to NewFile),(button 1 takes the contents from specific cells in NewFile and arranges them how I need into oXLApp1).
The error I get is "Unable to cast object of type 'System.IO.FileStream' to type 'Excel.Application'." in line 14 of the code below.

I am maintaining some VB.net code and I am more of a C# programmer. I have taken over maintaining several projects from people who have since left the project. The manager tells me that some of the VB.net programs are console applications. Yet in looking through the source code I am not able to distinguish wether the code is for a console application or for some other VB.net program like a VB.net windows application. Can someone tell me if there is a way to determine if a VB.net program is a console application.
