Converting VBA Related To Variant And Array Creation/Initialization Syntax To .Net?
Jun 17, 2011
The following code works fine in VBA Goal of the code is to find (select) all cells in an Excel worksheet where the backgrounf cell color is Yellow (6) or Rose (38)
Sub SelectColorsViaArray()
Dim e As Variant
Dim r As Range
Dim x As Range
[code]....
3) With the above, I still do not understand how to integrate the Variant and Array differences from VB6 to VB.Net. I know what to do with all other like: Application.FindFormat.Interior.ColorIndex ... etc.
In VB6 I could assign an Excel range directly to a variant array dim vArr as variant vArr = xlSheet.range("A2:A10").value and then work with vArr to pull out the values I needed. This doesn't work in VB 2010. Is there a replacement procedure to allow me to read in a range (perhaps large) all at once and then process the data without needing Excel?
Just getting introduced with visual basic so this may be a simple question or something that makes no sense. BUT, Im making a program that searches Wikipedia depending on what the user inputs into the text box. I have what they searched in my web browser save to a listbox. Im wondering if there is a way to turn this into the history, so they can click these texts in the list box and go back to those previous web pages.
I'm new to VB and my question is whether all elements of an array will be initially zero per default:
Dim myArray( nx, ny ) As Single (all elements zero ?)
or do i have to loop over the array and set all elements to zero?
(p.s. my background is in Fortran where the standard does not guarantee that all elements will be zero initially and one has to set all elements to zero explicitly if one desires a zero-initialized array. )
I am using visual studio 2008 and i can't seem to rectify this error..it seems simple but i really can't seem to rectify this.What iam trying to do is pass the values of an initialized string array to an uninitialized string array using a loop..here's my code:-
I'm wondering if you know if there is a better way to write this code in order to speed it up. It has several blocks of if statements filling arrays, like this:
row0: If x < b(1, 1) Then a1(i, j + 1) = 0 If x > b(1, 1) And x < b(1, 2) Then a1(i, j + 1) = 30 If x > b(1, 2) And x < b(1, 3) Then a1(i, j + 1) = 60
i am using DateTimePicker control....my code is TextBox2.text=DateTimePicker1.Text.......while changing it correctly dispaly the selected date in textbox......the problem is i want to store the date in my database of field datetime type........when i click the add button it shows "Syntax Error Converting DateTime from String"
Getting this error when updating a row via a gridview with a sqldatasource in Vb.net/SQL Server 2000. No matter what input (1/1/2010, blank, etc) I give it I can't seem to get it right.
Code before the input is passed to the sp:
Dim sqldatenull As DateTime Dim DateVerify As DateTime sqldatenull = DateTime.MaxValue
Im in the process of building a call loggin system and its finally been put on the server, but i keep getting the above error "Title" the first stage it goes to be authorised and when the authoriser auths it...it updates the table with the date they authorised it. which is fine, the next stage is the Business Analyst where they check all the content of the task and then approve it but for some reason unknown to me it keeps falling over on the .dateAuthorised
My Sql Column to hold the date authorised is a Datetime datatype and im converting a string to a data time within the procedure this is my Code behind page
Dim StatusNew As Integer = 53 Dim CurrentStage As Integer = 51 ITUpdateTaskTable.Add("@spWorkID", Replace(TskNumLab.Text, "LC", ""))
This seems to work OK. Upon checking f_Data is indeed filled with 8 double type numbers.
I then try to convert this system.array to a double array as follows:
For i As Integer = 0 To f_NumberOfObservations - 1
f_Measures(i) = f_Data(i + 1, 1).value Next I then get an error pointing to the line ' f_Measures(i) = f_Data(i + 1, 1).value' of type MissingMemberException was unhandled by user code'
Okay I am working on a Voice Recognition Application that has a chat bot in it. When voice is recognized it converts the recognized string into an array and checks if the first or last value of the array is either computer or the Bot's Name. However, I am still very new to VB.NET only been programming in it for a few days. (I know ASP and VBscript really well though) When it goes through the check I get an exception how do I fix this? Here's my code with a comment on the line that it fails on:
Private Sub OnReco(ByVal StreamNumber As Integer, ByVal StreamPosition As Object, ByVal RecognitionType As SpeechRecognitionType, ByVal Result As ISpeechRecoResult) Handles RecoContext.Recognition Dim recoResult As String = Result.PhraseInfo.GetText 'Create a new string, and assign the recognized text to it.
I'm having trouble using a COM based DLL in that one of the parameters is of type VARIANT.
The C++ definition of the structure is as follows:
typedef struct CSimData { DWORD dwSigId;
[Code].....
From debugging i've been able to determine that the COM server is getting no value in vValue. Is there some sort of Marshaling that needs to be done to be able to set that VARIANT up on my side so that it can use it?
I have been tasked to convert out VB6 program to VB.NET. In my research online everyone seems to say I need to go through my code and get rid of any Variants I have. I have had pretty good luck so far, but I am having an issue in replacing this one.
[code]...
I am still pretty new to VB (either 6 or .net) and I am having a hard time finding an alternative for this. Will the convert tool in VB.net handle this just fine? Or do I need to change this? If I do, is there a better alternative for this? Forgive my noobness.
The following code works just fine: Dim wksSheetNames(0 To xlsWB.Worksheets.Count - 1, 0 To 1) As String Dim i As Integer = 0 For Each Wks In xlsWB.Worksheets Wks.Activate() wksSheetNames(i, 0) = xlsApp.ActiveSheet.codename [Code] .....
What is the best vb.net based search method that would permit me to search for i.e. "Sheet2" and be able to obtain "Cats"? I attempted to ascertain the index number of "Sheet1" with: Dim SheetArrIndex As Integer = Array.IndexOf(wksSheetNames, "Sheet1")
Then obtain the value "Cats" wksSheetNames(SheetArrIndex, 1)
But I received an error message: Code Line ->>>> "Dim SheetArrIndex As Integer = Array.IndexOf(wksSheetNames, "Sheet1")" Error msg ->>>> "Only single dimension arrays are supported here.: Obviously I do not know how to Search and Return the results of a 2D array.
I am creating a wrapper class in .NET (VB.NET as it happens but is equally related to C#) that is exposed to COM and one of the properties I am trying to wrap is a Variant. I thought I would just be able to use an Object, but I get an error: Public Property FieldValue([vFieldID As Object = -1]) As Object cannot be exposed to COM as a property 'Let'. You will not be able to assign non-object values (such as numbers or strings) to this property from Visual Basic 6.0 using a 'Let' statement.*
My property declaration looks like this: Public Property FieldValue(Optional ByVal vFieldID As Object = -1) As Object Get
I want to extract a field (field name is variant, i.e. depend on what the user's choice) from a table using sql statement. How do I do that? Do I have to declare some variables?
