Jun 24, 2010I am writing a console program in vb.net 2010 .net 4.0. Through out the program there are many lines of info. presented to the user in the console window. I was wondering if there is a way to copy all those lines from the code, cause I want to save the text as a log to the operations carried out.

Aug 18, 2010Hi, I'm working on a program that reads text entered into a textbox and creates a list of items by separating entries by commas. Everything is working fine, except, because I am using an array to store the items in the list, I have a limited number of entries. This is only a problem because, as it is written currently, each comma counts as an individual entry. Therefore, users can enter ",,," for example, and it would use up 3 places in the array.
I'm looking for a way to check to make sure there is text after the comma before adding an entry. I've attempted to use the .substring command to check the character after, which works until it gets to the last character. Because there is no character after that, it will give an error.
Here is my code for extra clarity:

Jun 27, 2012I am looking for the possibility to copy all (backup) my address book entries into plain text, or CSV, or XLS from Lotus Notes mail client. My aim is to later copy these details into Outlook. Is it possible. I haven't done lotus scripting before. But I am going through the reference links. If possible provide links or pointers for accomplishing this task. I am using Lotus Notes 8.0.1. Update: Is it possible to do this using VB or VB.NET? The language is not a constraint, as long as it is possible.

Dec 23, 2009I have this Quiz software that lets you create online multiple choice quizzes which are great for studying (I am in grad school and I'm trying to use everything I can to learn). So the Quiz software is great but it only lets you input questions by hand, one by one. I took a look at the .xml file that the quiz program spits out and came up with the idea to try and make a converter so that I can import many questions at once. I was hoping to try and solve this limitation by doing the following:
Take a .doc that say a tutor gives us with a bunch of practice questions, and then take that into Crimson Editor, and then format it so the question is on line 1, the multiple choice answers are on lines 3,4,5, and 6, (for the next question, the question would be on line 11, and the answers on lines 13, 14, 15, and 16, and so on) and then take that saved .txt file into my program, hit the generate button, and it will spit out the .xml file, and then import that into the quiz software to generate the online quiz.

I figured out how to open a text file by watching simple youtube tutorials, but I don't know how to have it generate the stuff and have it show up in the bottom text box. I know how to do the coding to convert the txt to proper xml code but I don't know how to be able to save the contents of the bottom text window to an xml file.

I have a code to open the .txt file and compare strings but I need to change it to compare only the CD name and not all three entries. Save screenshot, using a second value from the database as the filename (the naming part should be easy) Emulate another click on another pre-defined spot Repeat for next text in database.I wouldn't know where to start, though. I managed to get this working by myself using the 'SQL Pane' in VB and testing it by using execute sql but I don't know what to do now. I assumed that I could just save it and it would work from there but that's not the case, it dissapears from the SQL Pane if I close the project (even though it worked fine when I ran the project the first time), so where do I put it/what do I do with it in order to get this to work?

Dec 23, 2011building a program at the moment that changes registry entries to turn on and change, and off proxy settings. This small program is going to be dropped on each persons desktop so they can easily turn on the proxy in work, and turn it off when they take their laptop home.
However, the proxy address changes depending on which company I am at. I would like to be able to make a single program, but have a "hidden" setting to change the proxy and store it in the program, and push a copy of the file out across the network to each machine. I tried to make it so the proxy address can be saved as a string in My.Settings, but it would have to be made as a User setting rather than an application setting to give it read-write access.The only other option I can think of is to hard-code the proxy address into the program, which really isn't ideal

Mar 3, 2011I made an application that writes to a text file in csv format, and on another tab, there is a listbox where the user can click the "View Report" button and it will display the information from the text file in a list box. Right now, I am really pleased with it because I was able to use "split" to get all of the separated values on there own individual lines.Now I am wondering, is there a way that I can display one entry at a time in the list box, and then maybe implement "previous entry" and "next entry" buttons so that the user doesn't have to scroll down through the entries to view them, they can just hit next entry and it will go to the next line in the csv text file and display the information from there? I have tried doing it a few different ways, here is what I have so far for the "View Current Report" button:

1. Allow the user to enter text into the combo box to type entries contained in the list source.
2. Enable autocomplete to assist the user in selecting entries in the list source, both from dropped down state and non dropped down state.
3. Restrict the user from typing an entry that doesn't exist in the list source.
My requirements are:
1. The ComboBox must run some code after a selection has been made or the user has finished typing an entry (not after the focus has been moved to another control)
2. The code must only run once after the user has made a selection from the combobox or has finished typing an entry
The problem: To achieve the above functionality, I had to run code on numerous event's. Sureley there is a better way, here are the events and the reason for the code:

Sep 11, 2009i am trying to implement a very simple program, that simply copies some text from one window in to an appropriate text box field in the other window. I need to copy and paste about 50 pieces of information from one window in to another.I suppose i can load the entire SOURCE window's text in to a text box control, and then i want to use sendkeys to populate appropriate fields in the other DESTINATION window that i want to populate with this information.My guess is that i will need some kind of windows api (Win XP) to get a handle on the appropriate text boxes in the destination window (or tab through it or something)

Better description: I have a file named hello.txt. The contents of this text file are "hello". I use my program as the default for .txt files. I dbl click hello.txt. My program loads and the contents are blank and it should have "hello" in it.
