Jul 15, 2009I use vb.net 2008 to create a desktop application.I have a form that is resized according to the size/location of the app bar (where the start button is)I have a toolbar at the top, a status bar at the bottom of the form and a grid in the middle of the form I want the size of the grid to be the maximum possible on my form.if and when the user resize his application bar (or move it from the bottom to one of the sides) my form size should change according to the new working area size:
H = My.Computer.Screen.WorkingArea.Height
W = My.Computer.Screen.WorkingArea.Width
is there a single event that I can use ? currently I called my resize function in several form events: Activated, ClientSizeChanged, Load,Paint,LocationChanged,RegionChanged.And still it is not working correctly! Resize the app bar size or move it form does not change !
If I minimize it and then display it again or click it - it changes size

I have no problem with the feed itself, but my problem is how can I mark certain items as 'read'? The only thing I can thing of is to read the feed into a database. In this database, I add a column for 'read' which I update when the user has read the article. Then each time I retrieve the feed, I compare the feed to the database and only load new items into the database.

But that adds a newline to that last line causing a out of bounds error.How do i make it add a newline for each LINE except the last one?

Now as you can see it is sending the textbox1 text and then pressing enter then sending textbox2 text! Theres quite a few problems in that but before i discuss note: This code is in a Timer. Problem #1: It does not send the keys fully correct all the time because its trying to send them all at once! So i want it to send them 1 letter after the other with 200 ms sleep in them! Problem #2: The sleep is not working: The reason i know is because even after it did the first textbox1 text it didnt wait that 2000 ms!

However, even if entry is correct, the error msgbox will appear (x times of how many records there are in file), despite being navigated to the menu. Anyway that the Else isn't triggered when data is correct. Also for it to appear just one instead of (x times of how many records there are in file.)

E.g
1.I have a xml file with three elements looking like this:

I don't want to do an explicit If-Then for each button. Rather a common ONCLICK method that is called by all buttons and another method (the same name as the name of the button) is called.

Fast Method To Read Through Text Files
Jan 18, 2011Any simple/easy (emphasis on easy, I am a major beginner) to read through text files quickly, search for strings and pull information. I am currently using the 'StreamReader' function and 'InStr' command, but the files I am working with are gigantic and this is taking from 1/2 an hour to a few hours to work its way through.
Here is a sample of the code I am currently using - poke fun at will, I am a major newbie.

Apr 17, 2012These are the directions for the assignment.So far I am able to get the file read and printed onto a list box.The book we have for the class does not clearly talk about using the array of structure method with formatting an imported text file.After that I'm pretty much having a bit of trouble with everything else.I know I can figure most of it out but what I'm having a big amount of trouble with is the array of structures that he wants.I know that when I have the file imported that I need to save it temporarily and go through it and at every ":" put it in an array and save that spot and then keep scanning through the file. I want to search the entire file for a particular string eg, "apple" and for all lines containing the string to be printed in a text box. have successfully done this using streamReader to parse the CSV and check each element against the search word eg. apple. This has proven to be very very slow and I have read that the "ReadAllLines" method is much faster.

I am currently subscribed to a RSS Feed, [URL]
The code I have only retrieves the first 20 posts rather than all of the 133 posts that I see.
I am linking the problem to cookie settings. I seem to think that the request I am sending is not incorporating the cookie settings that I have on my computer.
You may have to subscribe to a feed to extract more than 20 posts. The standard for RSS feeds (without subscriptions) only allows a user to view 20 posts, HOWEVER, with subscription, the feed's number of posts grows.

Oct 12, 2010I'm semi new to visual basic, and I wanted to know if it is possible to make an RSS feed in visual basic that updates through a homepage that I give a link to and will post the information about the homepage in a text box or in seperate labels and perhaps have them link to the feed it is getting the info from. API Feed - StreamReader Files Get Cut Off At End
Mar 2, 2011I am reading data from an API feed and saving the chunks into files. When the files reach 2 MB I start a new file and write to that file. What happens now is that an entry (<entry></entry>) can get cut off at the end of a file and continues into the new file. I try and reconstruct the files by taking the last entry and combining it with the first entry of the next file but this is tedious handling the data transmission and file creation.

A column named 'comments' already belongs to this DataTable.
