I need to define some roles in my program with defined permissions. Let's say the administrator can have access only to certain features. The officer in charge to certain features and the user as well. for example, I have several group boxes and the user can access one of it only. So how i do manage these permissions? What I want do is have the roles already with the defined permissions. When I create the user and assign the role, the user should get the permission automatically.

Background: I need to create a user account and Modify it's registry before the user logs on the first time. Creating the account is done by using the Winnt provider (works great). To create the profile I'm trying to use Process.start to launch a process as the newly created user. With the use of loaduserprofile property the users profile gets created and i can do my regwrites without problem.

How can I allow the user to create a new folder and tell it where to be saved? I was thinking of using the savedialog but I don't know how to use it for folders instead of files.

Also there will be text files created in that folder, so they will have to be saved in whatever folder the user creates.

The entire time it is doing this, if I hover over the class, it says it is nothing, even as it fills its properties. Later on, it hoses me in the UI, even though the property has a value it says the class is nothing.

As part of a program for class we were instructed to create a text file on the user's computer. The instructions were to create the file to the C: (or the same drive as the Windows directory) but Windows7 requires Admin privileges to write to this directory. It works great if I run Visual Studio as admin, but I'd rather just write to an unrestricted area. For example the desktop. Is there a way to write directly to the user's desktop without knowing the user's username. Right now I'm using this "c:UsersNickDesktopScores.txt"; which works but of course the user's name is different on every machine. How would I go about specifying the user's desktop?

I have used the asp membership feature to add user management to my web app. I have modified the default tables to include a couple more fields. On the create user wizard I have turned wizard step one into a customizable template and have added in the controls for the 2 fields.
