I need to create a .Net program that will access a webservice provided to me from a customer. I need to be able to call this .Net program from a VB6 program. Basically, this .Net program needs to be an in-between program between a VB6 program and a webservice.I'm not very knowledgeable about .Net so I am struggling to find a way to do this. When I search the internet I seem to find information on how to make a webservice. But, this is not what I need to do. I just need to be able to access a webservice provide to me and pass the data to a VB6 program.
I have a web service that I will need to add as a web service reference in my vb.net application which is a plug-in to Outlook. I initially tried adding the reference by right clicking on the Project and selecting "Add Service Reference". In the box that pops up, I type the web service url in the address field and the namespace name and click ok.

How can I create the following array of associative arrays in Visual Basic (ASP)? array( array('customer' => 'khl', 'city' => 'bune'), array('customer' => 'Kla', 'value' => 'Swa') )
I need to create something that will retrieve new Users from a VTiger CRM and create a FTP folder and user/pass on another server.
SERV-A: VTiger CRM, powered by MYSQL. With WSDL directory. SERV-B: FTP server
The reason why I thought doing a WebService is that I must constantly check for new users. The language used isn't an issue. How to automatically retrieve changes of a MySQL DB from a webservice // Better solution?
I trying to create an application using vb 2010.This application handles booking of airline customers. i am using ms access 2007 where i have created a table that stores customer information and another that stores and updates seats available in different flying classes. Am trying to develop an interactive application in visual basic 2010 where customers can book. i want to add this data to the database in real time and communicate to customers the seats available, prices and so forth. In otherwards the application communicates with database and updates accordingly. Firstly how do i connect to my database? I tried ADO.net but seems better equiped to work with sql server which i have no idea how to use. Is there a tool that can make my interaction with the access seamless
I have developed a small ms-access based software with vb.net.
I've added auto-update capabilities to the software (mostly by using clickonce) to simplify the release of new features.
Every version of the software executes the update routine which may update also the existing database.Lately i've made few changes on the database structure adding few stored queries, so i want the autoupdate code to programmatically add these new queries to the existing database and make it perfectly up to date.
I haven't already found a solution to add stored queries to an ms-access database using odbc...I also tried to use the "CREATE PROC" sql statement but it does not seem to work with access databases, even if i create the query form the Microsoft Office Access front-end.I've found some examples that uses ADODB, but i'm using odbc to remain both x86 and x64 compliant.
I have used VB (versions 2 - 6) through many years; however, I am crash-course training myself into the VB2008 / VB2010 world kicking a screaming. I would like suggestions as to what SQL database access method should I focus more on in my learning process without making me feel that I'm a million years behind. I know I have WinForms where I can create a datasourse and drag / drop fields or tables on a form to create a grid (not really what I'm looking for).
My trouble isn't so much designing the form but in how I access the database. Theres XML, LINQ to SQL, ADO.NET, and many other methods. Not only do I need to grasp these methods quickly but I also need to know what type of projects I should create. What I mean is...I was thinking that I would design a WinForm app; however, I see that there are WPF apps and others to chose from. This is getting deep. I know it depends on the project that I'm working on. My plans are to write an app based off of either an SQL Express 2008 or SQL Server 2008 database. This first app will be standalone for now but may later become multi-user. I know I'm far behind on my learning curve coming from VB6. I have read a bit on VB2005 / 2008 / 2010. I own both VB2008 and VB2010. I use VB2008 at work. I know ADO.NET is still alive but by what I read online, it's a dying method and is only kept for backward compatibility. XML and LINQ to SQL and other methods are all pretty new to me.
Hello I want to create a windows form application program that can create games something like Gamemaker or Klik & Play (butt less advanced) with D&D "Drag and Drop" events and actions.
To create a program that asks for input then uses an else statement to create a handling fee balance.
Input: sales record - first name, last name, purchase amount, balance before purchase
Output: report - full name, old balance, purchase amount, handling fee, new balance
Definitions: handling fee is 5% of the old balance if the old balance is less than $1000.00 else it is 2% new balance = old balance + purchase + handling fee
Processing: Ask for and receive sales information Calculate new balance Print output report End the program when a purchase amount of 9999.99 is entered
I coded a program to access a Microsoft Access 2010 database. The program is written using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010. I get the error message that the database I'm trying to access is in an invalid format. look at the code below to see what I missed. The error is in the datasource statement.
I have a project to do for one of my classes that i need help on. Its and extra credit so im left on my own. Project Create a program to allow a student to create there own schedule. what i am trying to do is create a checkedlistbox for the student to check classes they are taking, and need something else to pop up or to show in another box or listbox the classes they can take for the next quarter. I know it has to do with if then statements but i dont know how to write basically:"if (class is checked in checkedlistbox) then ( these are the classes you can take)".
I have a program where a lot of the required information for it is stored in text files. I simply read this information into large arrays. However, I don't think it's necessary to load all the information each time. Rather, it would be more efficient if I could simply search through a list of items to find the one I need and then use the data from it, or to find a similar name and use it elsewhere.
Would I be right in using a database? And is database programming done in SQL? I have a book on it telling me to use the SQL Server (IIRC), so I shouldn't be doing it in the VB.NET Express GUI?
Here's an example of what I would do:
Hex = 03 00 => dex number 003 Search in file Pokemon Dex Numbers 003 returns Bulbasaur Check Bulbasaur base stats in the base stats file etc
So basically I'm reusing a lot of information. I think a database would be best and it would all be internal right? I'm getting complaints about access denied to a text file (since it's stored in the program directory in the program files).
So to cap up the few questions I have:
-Databases are done in SQL and not inside the GUI? -Databases would load internally? -I could search a database without having to load it into like an array or something?
how i can write a program to create a shortcut in the startup folder of a different program. So i have one program on my computer that should run at startup, i just need another program to create a shortcut to it, and then copy this shortcut into the startup folder.
I am very very new to VB.NET and would like to ask a simple question. I want to create a vb.net program and allow visitors to a website to download this program. However, I prefer not to have visitors download a zip folder. I would like to have a program that just gives a prompt to save in a selected folder, once the saved file is selected it prompts the person to download, and then when finished prompts the person to run the program. The reason is twofold:
1. I don't like the extra step involved with unzipping the file. and 2. I don't like the visitors having to look for the "main" file program within the new downloaded folder. So is there any way to have just one file for others to download without having it in a zip folder?
I have to send a request to Webservice and I have a working PHP solution, that I have to translate in VB.net
Here's the code working in PHP
//fill in the details of the contacts.userId is obtained from loginResult. $contactData = array('lastname'=>'Valiant', 'assigned_user_id'=>$userId); //encode the object in JSON format to communicate with the server.
[code]....
Naturally I imported a reference to a Json library and Imported (Imports Newtonsoft.Json)?
I'm trying to create a program that installs required .dll's for a program due to a clean install..What I need to do is Get a value in the registry and use it for the program files path.. but I've noticed some pc's don't have the same configuration because of the version the user is using. Anyway This is what I have so far:[code].....
What I'm trying to do is find a registry key called "SoftInstallPath", if found I need the end of the path to goto the new directory(new_dll) not the old one (dll).. and if "SoftInstallPath" cannot be found.. I need it to find "ProgInstallPath" and use it instead and do the same thing.By the way I'm using Visual Studio Professional 2008 on a Vista x86 machine. Also error I keep getting is: Warning 10 Function 'FixPath' doesn't return a value on all code paths. A null reference exception could occur at run time when the result is used.
Anyone ever try and create a program in visual basic that interfaced with an USB device? For example say I want to build a clock but I want to have the software to control this through usb. I want to write the clock setting program that tells the clock what to set for time and date and things like that.
I want to create a program that will auto update another program i have created. I want (this program) to check for updates (from a txt file that i wil have in the first line the previous version and in the second line the present version) and if there will be a new version then start downloading and the progress bar will show the progress. How can i do this?
I have a few questions reguarding converting a Access program to a sql/vb.net program. I know these are vague questions, so feel free to give vague answers.
NOTES: I have a solid unstranding of SQL and VB.net. i have little Access experience, but i would be working with the individual who created the access program. I also don't have alot of experience in converting on program from one language to another. Most of my experience is in new programing.
[Q1] Is their a general rule of thumb when converting/recodeing on how long it should take? i.e. if this project would take me 40 hours to write my self from scratch it would take me 30 hours to recode into another language?
[Q2] What type of problems do i need to look out for when working on projects of this nature and being inexperinced?
I want a program a very simple program, a software that will let you enter a name and then you click "Create". This will create a program and when you click it it will show "Hello! *the name*"

we had developed a webservice in vb.net,framework 2.0. We would need to rewrite this websevice in WCF with framework 3.5. Please provide some guidance regarding this and also there are many othersystems consuming our webservice url. Will this conversion have impact on the source system or does it involve any build activity for the source system to consume the url that will be developed with WCF method?
I have created a dll in VB using Visual Studio 2005 that uses System.Security.Cryptography to encrypt and decrypt a text string. My intention was to reference this from using VBA in MS Access in order to encrypt field values in a table and decrypt it when needed.
I can use this successfully from a simple VB application that I also wrote using Visual Studio 2003 but when I try to add the dll as a reference in MS Access I get the following error: "Can't add a reference to the specified file."How can I modify the code in my dll to make it compatible with VBA?
