View 12 RepliesI have a class that add extra information about a column for linq2sql (see code below) right now, I have to explicitly tell what column I want that info on, how would you put that code with a loop on every column in every table from a dbml file? I was doing my test on a very very small DB, now I have to implement it on a much more bigger database and I really don't want to do it manually for every tables/columns it will take hours.

What I want to do (actually I am not sure how to do it, or is there a way to do it), when I choose one of the value in one of the column inside the table, I want it to open a form that contain data(details) based on that value.
How to do it? How to call the value that I pressed, so it can be used to open a new form containing the details of that value

Is there anyway to save a thumbnail of an image, then save it so that, when viewed through My Computer, the thumbnail is displayed for the file. Basically, what I mean is to do something similar to the way you can see a preview of a pdf file, or Microsoft Word file, or Microsoft Expression Design file. I want to be able to open the file's containing folder, then switch to thumbnail view, and the thumbnail will be displayed as the image for the file.
View 5 RepliesI would like to prepare a preview window to zoom inside a picturebox. In my form, I have a picturebox (name picSource1) and inside the same picturebox, I have some other pictureboxes (like picsmallSource1). All of them make a detailed whole photo. My aim is to make a new form with a new picturebox (name it picDestination) so that when mouse comes over the source picSource1 (and of course the other small pictureboxes inside this), Form2 becomes visible and picDestination shows the zoomed part where the mouse cursor shows. So while the mouse moves over the image, the new picturebox shows in real time the zoomed version.

This code works very fine but I should revise it to somehow "overlay" the picturebox1 with other small pictureboxes, isn't it?
I have some code that allows the user to browse for an image and then when that image is opened, it is copied to a new directory. This all works fine, but I would like to know if there is a way to create a thumbnail of this image and save it into a subdirectory inside the directory where the original image has already been copied?

It does that you click on something in the form then it will create a Picturebox.Okay what I want more is this:
1. It should only can be made one picture box every 32x32 like this:

I have an image upload facility in my asp.net project, when uploaded a thumbnail of the image is generated and saved to disk. What I would ideally like to do is apply some nice styling effects to this thumbnail image.. similar to the look of the icons on an iPhone.. perhaps a slight gradient, smooth rounded corners, and a border.

i would like to drag a picturebox inside of another picturebox and I think I already made it. the problem is the object I am trying to drag is behind the picturebox ....how to I make it so that it will appear infront of the picture box? also when I drag it out again of the picturebox I would like to restrict it so that dragging out of the picturebox is not anymore possible?

I've created a form with a PictureBox on it and would like to dynamically create another PictureBox on the form while the program runs (to the left of the static one). I've written this code:

When I run this code I can detect that the temp PictureBox does get created. However, it is not rendered onto the form. It seems like it's there but is invisible.

Simple enough with DataGrids and DataSets, although there is one slight twist.First, I need to be able to populate the grid based on one record of the column [Name] that is chosen from a ComboBox(I have been able to populate the ComboBox, but not the grid).Second, I need to restructure the DataGridView so that each current column name is in a column called "Field" and the row for that one record chosen is in another column called "Value".As you can see here, each "Field" is a column name and each "Value" is one record for each of those columns. So, if I could somehow parse through all of the column names into a "Field" column, and also populate a "Value" column with one record for each [Name], I would be on the road to happiness.

View 5 RepliesI'm trying to create an animated screensaver using a small animated gif, and tiling it over a form in Visual Studio 2010, but I'm having trouble tiling the gif over a PictureBox First, I tried importing the gif as the Form's BackgroundImage, but the gif lost its animation.
Then I went on to importing the gif into a PictureBox, and setting the PictureBox to "Dock in parent container," to make it the same size as the form. The gif is animated inside the picture box, but its not tiled. Is there a property I am missing that can be used to tile an image over a PictureBox or do I need to write some code to tile the image?
I wrote a function to format numbers like this: 123456100,12 -> 123.456.100,12 (I have a function too, which converts numbers from this strings).Now, I have a dgv and a column with these numbers (or rather strings). The sort mode is set to automatic. If I sort the column, it doesn't work, because the values are not really numbers, but strings. But I get the same result (the sorting doesn't work), if I use the formatnumber function (this returns strings too).
I could use the programmatic sort mode and before sorting I format the strings to numbers, then sort the column, and then format the numbers like above. But this is a bit slow (the dgv has appr. 800 rows), and in this case, I haven't an arrow next to the column header text.is it possible to sort the column like a normal number-column with automatic sortmode?

View 5 RepliesI'm trying to create a bunch of labels during runtime that will be "inside" a picture box, so when I move them, if their new coordinates are outside the box's dimensions they wont display, or if they're right on the edge of the box only half the label will be visible etc.
I thought label.Parent = picturebox would work but it doesn't seem to do anything, and Google keeps telling me to set the label's container to the picturebox - which sounds right, but maybe it's no longer a VB.NET thing since the Container property seems to be Read Only.
