Access Database To Hold Data For VB App?

May 3, 2010

I have a bit of a problem. I am using an Access database to hold data for my VB app. In the VB app, I have a data source thats pulling data from the database.

I modified the database today, deleted some tables, added another one, but the data source in the project window does not show these updated changes. I had to reconfigure the datasource with the wizard to get the changes to update.

Is there a way that i can get the data source to update itself when the form loads?

Loading MS Access Database Information In ListView

Jun 22, 2010

I'm having a problem with loading my MS Access Database. I can get it to load but it won't load in a row. My friend told me to try this but it puts all the information in a column instead of putting all the information spread out accross the row.

Here's my code:
Dim lb_Connection As New OleDb.OleDbConnection
lb_Connection.ConnectionString = "PROVIDER=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;DATA SOURCE = pass_database.mdb"
Dim lb_SelectCommand As New OleDb.OleDbCommand
[Code] .....
Also I'll attach an image of what the program does when I load it.

2010 Access And Change Information In A Database With Only Code?

Jun 15, 2010

First, I would like to add a text box search field to this form (because navigating through several thousand users with arrows isn't going to work). When the search button is pressed, I want the username to be looked for. If found, the form (and each textbox, option button, etc.) is updated with that user. I can then modify the user's information and press save.

Second, how do I access and change information in a database with only code? For example, if I periodically want to check every user in the database to see if they have over "100 points" and if they do, I subtract 10 points from that user.

Database - Implement A Login System Using LINQ To Compare Information With An Access Table?

Sep 27, 2011

I have been requested to implement a login form into a friend's Visual Basic .NET application. He specifically requested that I should do this using LINQ to compare the input to a table in an Access database. I don't really know why he imposed these restrictions, but who am I to judge? However, the problem is I am not overly familiar with VB .NET, or LINQ.

Create A Class To Hold Data In Studio?

Jul 20, 2010

The problem is, I've never created a class before, not in VB, Java, or anything. I know all the terms associated with classes, I understand at a high level how classes work no problem. But I suck at the actual details of making one.[code]...

As for the Getter and Setter, the reason I put the question marks in is because I want to return the whole array there. The class will eventually have other properties which are basically permutations of the same data, but this is the full set that I will use when I want to save it out or something. Now I want to return the whole Array, but typing "Return fullDataSet()" doesn't seem like a good idea. I mean, the name of the property is "fullDataSet()." It will just make some kind of loop. But there is no other data to return.

References Most Likely Needed To Start In .NET Access And Control Excel Via Office Automationj

Apr 7, 2010

Background: (Office 2007 and XP Pro all Up to Data; Net Framework 3.5)Two data files are compared one to the other (in Access via VBA) to ascertain matches & non-matches. This aspect completed in Access because of Access's large datafile capacity

The matches and non-matches are passed to Excel via Offine Automation In short, I am attempting to ascertain the "Access-related" VB.NET References required in VB.Net Solution Explorer.

I have included snippets of the VBA code for examples of the Access objects.I would like some knowledge from an expert in Office Automation and VB.NET.

Linq - Database Advice Needed: Porting VB6/ADO/JET App?

Jul 22, 2010

I need to update (well, rewrite really) a SMALL VB6 application which uses ADO to access a JET database, to a vb.net app in Visual Studio 2008. My research suggests that I should use LINQ, but it doesn't seem to be possible to connect to JET. If JET is now deprecated, what should I use? Or should I use ADO.NET without LINQ?

Please don't answer SQL Server! - this needs to be an app that end users can install easily in corporate or non-corporate environments, and must not require any ongoing technical maintenance. I started to install SQL Express, but stopped when it required at least 2 system updates, as that will be far too complex for this little app.

.net - Don't Create Local Variable To Hold The Reference Of The Object?

DB/Reporting :: Listview VB 2008 : Find The Items Checked/create The Needed Handle?

May 4, 2011

Have a populated listview with check boxes. If the item is checked I want to send it to report for printing. This code is bypassed:

Code:
Private Sub GetSelectedItems()
If Not Me.ListView1.SelectedItems.Count = 0 Then

[code]....

Count is always = 0. This seems to work only if the item is double clicked. And then only one item is returned in the msgbox. MSDN says "The SelectedItems property will not contain any items if the property is accessed before the ListView handle is created, which typically occurs when ListView is initially loaded for display in the form. You can check to see if the handle is created with the IsHandleCreated property."

When I tried to check for the handle, an error said something about overloading. So I added this:

Code:
Public Overloads ReadOnly Property GetSelectdItems()
Get
If Not Me.ListView1.SelectedItems.Count = 0 Then

[code]....

Which does not help. How to find the items checked/create the needed handle?
