Create A Secure Login Page Using VS 2010/ASP.Net?

I would like to create a secure login page for a pre-defined set of users (so no creating username/passwords by the users themselves). I've looked up a few sites and they all seem to suggest using Microsoft's Membership or something. I am not very sure as to why that's used, but all you need to know is that I will be creating the login details. I just need to make the login secure, ie, no duplicate logins, no logins from different browsers and cookies and sessions and encryption and all that. Any one have the code/links to where I can get all this?

I'd like to be able to to login to a secure website directly from within my VB.Net 2005 app.
I can use the following to open the page in the user's default web browser
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("http://www.xxx.com/login") When you visit this webpage you're prompted for a username and password (using the .htaccess/.htpasswd method).

I am using Visual Studio 2010. I can connect to my MySQL datababse no problem by clicking my login button.Now I can't figure out how to query the database and check if username and password are correct, and switch to a different form, to display the data loaded from the database.This is Login.vb Form

I'm using a WebBrowser control in my current program in a bit of a bastardized way: I don't use it visually, I just use it because I'm more familiar with its events.
So, basically, I create a WebBrowser control and navigate to a page to login. Then, when logged in, I create a new WebBrowser control and navigate to a different page.
I've used this program for four months with no difficulty. Starting today, though, the second phase of that has been going really, really slowly. What used to take 3-5 seconds is taking 25-30 seconds. It still works eventually, it just takes a while.
Usually I would assume this was a server problem. However, navigating to the exact same URL in Firefox happens extremely quickly. Weirder still, within the program there is a user WebBrowser control -- I can copy/paste the URL the previous (not visible) WebBrowser was navigating toward into this user WebBrowser, and it goes just fine.
What in the world could be holding up this other "custom" WebBrowser? I don't even know where to begin in diagnosing this.It might be important to note that the site this is working based off recently underwent some changes -- but I can't imagine why that would affect only these "custom" WebBrowsers and not the user one in the same program.

I had a problem with WebBrowser component. Basically, it works improperly when try to log in on one web-site (Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site). I am working with Visual Studio 2010 Professional. I created a simple WebBrowser trying to access the indicated web-site. The problem begins. Well, the website loads, but when you go to the login page (Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site) and try to log in, it doesn't work. I mean, when I enter the login details the login page just refreshes itself and the login wasn't proceed. The same login page appear with every login attempt. The is the current problem!I check with Google, it works. But, it doesn't work with Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site! Why?

I am trying to create a script that can login to a secure (HTTPS) website using credentials I supply then use MS' bitsadmin tool to download a report from the website. Once I automate this, I can then automate some processes of handling that report. So I am taking this step by step and trying to focus on getting the autologin portion to work before taking any other steps. The website I am logging into is not your typical site, it requires 3 fields 1) Organization 2) User Name 3) Password. See attached image as a reference. Also I have attached a text file with the source code of the relevant portion of the website login page.
So I hunted around and built a script off of a couple others I found and I am very close. See below for my script. The main problem I think I am running into is the stupid security alert popup I get from IE. I have no idea how to use the "sendkey" function on this popup to send "y". If I did, I think the script would work. When I run the script IE opens up and the security alert popup appears. I can wait as long as I want, but the popup doesn't go anywhere and IE just seems to sit there. [Code]

I'm trying to login to the mobile login page for hotmail.com. I want to login to each account, I have them in a multi-line textbox1 in username : password format (no-spaces) on new lines. It loops through all the accounts before the page is even loaded. and when the page has loaded, it logs into the hotmail login from the last login details at the end of the textbox, instead of going from first to last. It's not clicking submit button either, its just showing the username and password looping in the inputs. Not submitting at all. The submit button code is right. I know it works. So thats not the problem.

It is simply a "Y" in the road. If they are Company A, then I want to send the username and password over to that website and log them in as if they typed it in there. If they are Company B, then the same thing but with a different website. I do not know the term for this, so the google results are not very pretty.I can not do this with a query string (not that I'd want to anyway) as I do not want the username/pw to be visible.Here is the other weird thing. This can be done via a simple HTML <FORM> and Submit button as I have tested it. But I want to do it all in VB.NET code. How is it that it is possible with some simple HTML but not possible in VB.NET? I guess it could be a security thing, right? What do the good guys like us do when we legitimately just want our employees to go to one login page, enter their username/pw, and then (based on their username) send them to either pageA.aspx or PageB.aspx which receives their username/pw that they only entered once before on the first page?

So i've been working on a page for a project where the person logs into a login page and then can see a list from the database of employees. everything is working except for one problem. If someone puts in a username and password, username= a and password=b, for example it still allows that individual to view the next page and doesn't throw the error that i have enbedded on the login page to say sorry you have the incorrect password/username. basically i want to create a login to my program which uses the same username and password as windows login.I already know how to retrieve username and auto place it in the username box using

i wondered is there an easy way to only allow access if the password matches up to their logon? i dont know about setting up databases but i dont think this option would work because each member of staff can personally choose their password.

am trying to find out is there any way to create a web browser in a vb.net aspx page rather a vb.net form. I have looked on the internet they all seem to be on a form and not a website. The reason I want it on a website is so that i can view other website pages on the website that I am creating for holding game information. For example a user is interested in finding information about a certain game within my website and instead of using another tab or opening another browser page he/she can just use the inbuilt browser on my wbesite.

Any Way to be able to access a file externally that is located on an internal network by a simple link. I need a way to generate links to files to dynamically in code. So say for instance I'm writing an outlook add in that strips the attachments from messages if they meet a certain size criteria. then upload the file to a server and post a temporary link to the file that can be accessed any where. I prefer to store the file on an ftp server but for security issues I can't do it that route. is there a way to do this in windows server.
