Create A User Control With A List Of Custom Class Type Property

Nov 29, 2011

Is it possible to create a user control with a list of custom class type property? If it is, how can I? The issue is that, in designer mode the property is not displayed in property window. I can add the list on markup but when i switch to the designer mode it gives an error which is 'The user control does not have a public property named BookList'.

Building Custom User Control - Default Property Of Class?

Jan 22, 2012

If we say blue is the default colour of the Backcolor property I understand it as if you don't specify a colour for Backcolor blue will be its colour. But I could not make sense of default property of a class in the context of building a custom user control. After calling an instance of a class we have to either call one of its members or assign an other object for it. Therefore why should there be a default property?

Get Notified When List Of Custom Type Property Changed?

Mar 2, 2011

I have a class and one of the properties is a list of a custom class. The caller gets the list and is adding instances of class to the list. How do I get notified that the list has been updated?

Private _list as List(of MyType)
Private _totalField1 as Integer
Public Property MyTypeList As List(Of MyType)
Get
Return _list
End Get
Set(ByVal value As List(Of MyType))
_list= value
_totalField1 = _list.Sum(Function(x) x.Field1)
End Set
End Property

What I'm trying to do is every time a MyType object is added to the list keep a running total of Field1, but adding to the list doesn't use the setter. How can I know when the list has been added or changed?

How To Create A Connection Between A Control And A Property In A Class

Sep 20, 2010

Is there a (simple) way to connect a textbox, label etc. to a property in a class?I have a project with a complex series of dialogs to enter data into a list of a costum class describing an experiment with many parameters that are stored as properties (both simple variables such as strings and integers, but also more complex ones).I need both to be able to update the list of my experiment class, but also to go the other way to populate the dialogs from the class.It can of course be done outside the class and the dialogs in separate subroutines. This however, quicly becomes unmanagable and hard to maintain as the dialogs and experiment class is expanded with new elements.If there was a simple way to connect say a textbox or label in a dialog with the appropriate property holding the information it would make it much easier.

Collection Type Property Assignable At Design Time In User Control

I would like to be able to add these at design time by using the Collection editor that VS uses for adding things such as treenodes/listviewitems. Ideally I would also be able to declaratively add them to the html syntax. I can get the Items property to show up but I get no intellisense to add the items between the opening and closing tags. Add Validate To A Custom Class Property

Mar 20, 2011

I'm trying to add validation to one of my class properties:[code]The value for the golfer's handicap comes from a oombo box on the form. Even if I have nothing set for this property at runtime, my validation doesn't work. I tried putting the If statement under Get instead of Set, and tried mHandicap = value after an Else in the If statement, but nothing seems to work. I'm working in the dark here and can't find anything suitable online. I was hoping to not go down the path of ReadOnly or WriteOnly properties as I'm not at that stage yet, but does this make a difference for my purposes here? Can anyone guide me as to what I'd need to do from this point? If I've got it right, you can add validation in the class and this means that you then don't need to repeat this validation in the form??

Dynamic Custom Class Property

Dec 18, 2009

I have a For Each block loops through a list of objects, the objects are all instances of a single custom class I have made which has multiple properties.The logic used in this block uses a property of the custom class to do a set action, is it possible to dynamically supply which property it uses in the logic? This will be more efficient and prevent me from having to create this logic over for each property of the custom class.My best guess was that maybe it is possible with reflection, however my searches into reflection have left me more confused.

Add Property To Custom Control?

This property is browsable and I can change its value.But when I drag the custom control to the form and change the pcaption property, it has no effect. Even the <Defaultvalue> has no effect. Why?

Here is the class code:

Private panelcaption As String

Color values are unimportant, you can change it.
