I am trying to create a vertical progressbar type user control.
I want to be able to set the max / min of the progressbar as well as setting the value
But the thing I want is able to have green at the bottom fading into red up the top like in this image: [URL]
But I don�t know how or where to start.
Is there a custom progressbar I can use?
Is it possible to create a user control with a list of custom class type property? If it is, how can I? The issue is that, in designer mode the property is not displayed in property window. I can add the list on markup but when i switch to the designer mode it gives an error which is 'The user control does not have a public property named BookList'.

View 7 RepliesI made a custom progressbar as a user control. And I have only been working with forms 'n classes. As you all know, when you create a component in class, it gives you the dll file for the custom component or whatever you made so you can use it on any program. On my custom progressbar, I don't know how to get the ocx or dll file so I can use it on my other programs. OR.. if this is even possible lol. If you could help me on this, that'd be great. And I don't know how to make a custom progressbar out of a class, only user control, so if you could teach me how to make a progressbar out of a class, then that'd be awesome too.

I am able to only add controls that are of type TextBox. My question to you is, can I create a List to hold more than one control type or do I have to create a list for each control type?
I have a User Control that is a ProgressBar with Dock set to Fill. The code is as below. Unfortunately it simply doesn't show the text in the progress bar and why is beyond me skill.

The If Not... conditional code in the set method is there to prevent the SetProgressText procedure running every time the property is set. The Value property of a ProgresBar is an Integer and if the code that is setting it runs through thousands of loops (>600,000 in my case) then there's no point updating the text every time since it can only actually change 100 times for a 0-100 ProgressBar. The 600k looping takes about 2 seconds usually, without that conditional code it takes at least 2 minutes!

What i wanna do is to create a textbox (inherits from textbox) with additional one property called MDIStatusInformation which is used to display a tooltip text in a status bar at main MDI form.
When i use this tag <Browsable(True)> _, the control property not list anything there.

My understanding is the user must enter 32 digits into a textbox. The textbox should place limitations that only allow the digits "0" and "1". This error could be displayed to the user with a messagebox that then asks to reset the value orginally inputted into the textbox. My understanding is I should continue creating the formula of the position of each character where the third character is *2^2, fourth is *2^3, fifth is *2^4 and so on? I don't understand the formula and how it works.
I'm trying to create a new server control type in ASP.NET. This control would put a RequiredFieldValidator into a certain place. My class inherits from the WebControl class and it has a ControlID property which is the ID of a given control. The RequiredFieldValidator will be generated near the control with the given ControlID. However, the value of ControlID is nothing. In what events can I successfully use this property?

But ControlID is Nothing for some reason and the event throws an exception. ControlID is never changed after initialization and it is initialized this way:

I'm adding web user controls to a page dynamically. Using the LoadControl method that only takes a virtual path pointing to the .ascx works pretty nicely. However, the overload of LoadControl that takes a type and an array of parameters is causing me some headaches. The web user control is instantiated as expected, but the controls contained within the web user control are null and I get an exception as soon as I try to work with them. Strange, because it's working when use the first version of LoadControl.
The web user control, simple, with a Literal control:

I am creating a User Control where I have a property called Items. Items is of type LibraryPanelBarItem Collection (custom class) which contains a collection of LibraryPanelBarItem objects. I would like to be able to add these at design time by using the Collection editor that VS uses for adding things such as treenodes/listviewitems. Ideally I would also be able to declaratively add them to the html syntax. I can get the Items property to show up but I get no intellisense to add the items between the opening and closing tags. i'm trying to create a user control.. i placed a textbox and a button in it.. there's also a form in it.. basically this is a DateTimeTextBox control that i'm doing.. i'm able to create the control and add it to my forms but when going to the property at design time, i don't see the Text property and its not on the DataBindings property as well. how do i make use of this property?

View 5 RepliesWhen I try to create an Inherited User Control everything goes fine until I specify the base control and press "Add" in the Inheritance dialog. The code in the newly created Control should have a "Inherited From" statement, but it doesn't and nothing works after that. I even tried following the ctlClocklib project and the same thing happened. ctlAlarmClock.vb was created but the "Inherited From" statement was missing.

Unlike the System.Windows.Forms.TabControl, however, I would like the text to remain horizontal instead of being rotated by 90 or 270 degrees to the horizontal. I begin by starting a new project of the type Windows Form Control Library. Next I place a TabControl on the UserControl designer surface and Dock the TabContol to Fill the UserControl.
I go to the code editor for the UserControl and enter the following line of code.

Then I run the program and get an error. Intellisence recommends that I use one of two recomendation. When I accept the recommendation I and try to run the program the problems esculate.

I am working on a user control. Embedded in my user control is another user control. All of a sudden while programming some simple stuff I get an "out of memory error message". I can no longer load my project (after reboots etc.). I start a new project, copy the control.vb files into a new project folder.. add then add the control to the new project. Ican view the design and the code of the control. When I attempt to drag the control onto another control in the same project I get an error message
"Failed to create component... 'system.outofmemoryexception. Out of memory".
