That part is already working but part of the requirement is to allow the users to add an attachment to their email. When I use IO.Directory.CreateDirectory to create a directory it creates a read-only directory no matter where I make the directory.

I wrote some code yesterday which shows a directory listing of an FTP server and if you click on a folder it will show that directory and their is a back button. But I dont think it is efficient and I can tell there will be a lot of errors.

View 2 RepliesI wanted to create some CLR functions that will access Active Directory, but I discovered I can't add a reference to "System.DirectoryServices" to my CLR project.
I googled it, and found that I have to add the AD dll as an Assembly to the SQL Server. Like so:

The problem here is that I have to set the "PERMISSION_SET = UNSAFE" to the dll... this means that I have to set the database as "TRUSTWORTHY ON", and this opens a can a worms!
I have done VBscripting the past and I have actually made this work in a script however I am trying to convert it to VB for the client so that it has a nicer interface and basically is a better program. There are several parts to this program but I am stuck on this part right now. I am attempting to get a list of all servers from Active Directory and then sort them by type. The program will run however it will not produce any results. Its just an empty file. I figured the problem was with my filtering but I just don't understand why this will not work. I have written it in two different ways and get the same result each time.

View 3 RepliesA variety of files (pdf, images, etc.) are stored in a ntext field on a MS SQL Server. I am not sure what type is in this field, other than it shows question marks and undefined characters, I am assuming they are binary type.
The script is supposed to iterate through the rows and extract and save these files to a temp directory. "filename" and "contenttype" are given, and "data" is whatever is in the ntext field.
I have tried several solutions:
1) data.SaveToFile "/temp/"&filename, 2
Error: Object required: '????????????????????'

2) File.WriteAllBytes "/temp/"&filename, data
Error: Object required: 'File'
I have no idea how to import this, or the Server for MapPath. (Cue: what a noob!)

This works, but the file should be saving to the server instead of popping up save-as dialog. I am not sure if there is a way to save the response to file.

Basically I've been using the VS2008 Express editions for the last few years. With the express editions (with the exception of C++), by default when you create a new project, the project files are all stored in a temporary directory. When you select "Save All" for the first time, VS would prompt for a project directory and then you could save the project into your regular project directory.This is behaviour I found exceedingly useful, as many times I create very quick, simple programs to do 1 thing for me before never needing them again.Once I close VS, it prompts me whether I want to save the project, I select "Discard" and everything's all good; my project directory doesn't get cluttered with useless directories for 1-time projects and everybody wins.
However, with VS2010 Ultimate I've noticed that the default behaviour has changed and all new projects are created directly into my Project directory (yes I'm aware I can change the directory when creating the project, but that's a needless waste of time). This has led me to reverting to express editions whenever I want to write a small program, which isn't too bad at home, but at work we only have VS2010 professional. Every time I create a simple project I have to remember to delete the directory later or face having a directory of "WindowsFormsApplication1000232131231".

View 12 RepliesI created a piece of code to create users in our active directory (2003) Everything is working OK and all attributes are set correctly. Only if i logon with a created user i do not get the mapping H: to the homedrive. When looking in ADUC the path to the homedir is correct. Also permissions on the homedir are correct and the user is owner of the dir.
If i correct the path in ADUC to another path and change it back again to point to the homedir the drive mapping is made correctly, so it look's like some kind of attribute is not set correctly. I used ldp.exe to view the created user's attributes before and after modifying the path but don't see any difference.
Tried to create the dir before and after user creation but that's not making any difference.
