Create The Basic Functionality Of A Text Box Like Drawing The Text Box And Handling Input?
Feb 19, 2011
I'm making a custom control that needs to look like a Text Box but I can't Inherit Directly from text box since I need to add, Change and Override so many things that it would be more practical to just inherit Control and start new.
But now my question is: Is there an easy way to create the basic functionality of a Text Box like drawing the Text Box and handling input ?
To create a program that asks for input then uses an else statement to create a handling fee balance.
Input: sales record - first name, last name, purchase amount, balance before purchase
Output: report - full name, old balance, purchase amount, handling fee, new balance
Definitions: handling fee is 5% of the old balance if the old balance is less than $1000.00 else it is 2% new balance = old balance + purchase + handling fee
Processing: Ask for and receive sales information Calculate new balance Print output report End the program when a purchase amount of 9999.99 is entered
I'm trying to create an app in Visual Basic that will allow a user to input an address, state, zip, some radio buttons and other data that will then add information into a json file.
i have created a program to view images in a picturebox, i have created two list box's one for folder names/image areas to group certaint images and the second listbox to list the number of pages contained in the image folder/area. when the user creates a new image area, he or she can name it whatever they want, when they do that i would like to create a folder in the c drive for instance with the same name as the image area, and i would want it to create a .txt file aswell to keep memory of what they have done, so when they come back to it the next day they can just carry on from where they left off.
I am attempting to create an app that receives text input on a form and outputs to printer but I haven't any idea where to start for the coding. the form was relatively easy, now how to code. I have labels that give questions and 16 text boxes 5 list boxes and 10 check boxes to receive input from users how can I arrange the input into a paragraph and output to printer?
I am trying to create a function to remove dirty words from user input text and want to replace those dirty words with four ****. In my scenario , i have list of dirty words where i would iterate the input user text and want to replace. Say for example.,
Dim InputTxt As String = "hi bush how are you.... $hit and @ss" Dim OutPut As String = " hi **** how are you... **** and ****";
Problem: It works fine to replace some word like " bush" however fails in the below function doesn't replace "$hit" and "@ss".
Note: I do not want to use string.Replace because it doesn't have word boundary in the sentence..
Public Function pReplaceWords(ByVal dirtyWord As String, ByVal inputText As String, ByVal options As RegexOptions) As String Try
I'm looking to see if a little more control is possible though. cpustring = string and fontstring = font, both defined earlier in the program.I'm not sure how to clear the drawn text before drawing a new text. I tried with g.clear(color.transparent), but that creates an ugly flickering background for the picturebox (the picturebox is already set to transparent background).I'd also like to be able to fit the text in the picturebox area, max width/height as defined by picturebox, not by fontsize. Font can stretch either way as long as it fills in the picturebox.
I am trying to bind a textbox to a binding source (using the IDE DataBindings Editor) and it works fine except for one thing: if I delete the text I get the subject error. What I want to happen is the datarecord field be updated to a dbnull value -- how do I get that to happen?
I have a form that has a web browser to display the word doc. I want to be able to edit this word doc with a text box. How can this be done. I searched for this online and came up with this: [URL] But I'm not really sure what to do with it.I have some code: Public
I've been trying to print out a text string to a printer that I have connected. I cannot print using the PrintDocument.Print() as this sends the string as a graphic to the printer.I don't know C# and I am very new to full fledged VB having spent most of my time using VBA in Excel
I am working on a windows application where i need to use the autocomplete functionality in text box and it should take values from the data base.[code]...
Basically, I want to have a text box that will display text associated with the text input.
For Example:
input : 512 output : TEXAS
or
input : 659 output : ALABAMA
I have heard that it is possible to do this, and I would like to find out a way to. Even if I need a separate text file with the arrays, I would like to get this to work.
If my Category and Forum selection is incorrect I am sorry and feel free to move it. I'd like to have the users input in the message box that will show. For example: There is a textbox and the user puts in their name as Bob. Then the message box would be: What my main goal is, is being able to include the users input they type inside the textbox inside the message box.
What's the code for input and output text?Ex.I have two textboxes. Textbox1 and Textbox2 I type in "1 2 3" in Textbox1 I press a button and it converts the numbers to it'scorresponding letter, like A B C. I need a code so that I can do that
Anyone know of a way to do addon's with a visual basic program? I want to create a program that has some basic functions, but to stay away from bloatware and unused functions. How would you create a main program when it is installed and then be able to add and remove features to it?
i was just wondering if there was a way that i could compare data stored in a text file such as usernames and passwords with data input into text boxes in visual studio vb2008?
Part of my assignment is to check if input to Group Number and Number of Units are correct input by making error handling exceptions...
I have to check the following: a) group number is neither 501 nor 062 b) number of units are NOT numbers c) number of units is NOT a positive number
So my first question is, am I checking correctly? 2nd question is, How do I make sure my Exceptions will pertain to their correct respective things (a, b, and c.. above)?
I'm trying to create an application that reads in a log file, then converts each line to a class(I'm databinding a datagrid to the finished ObservableCollection). The implementation I've done but I'm struggling to reduce the time it takes to itterate the lines and convert them to classes.small log files are fine its the larger log files (25k lines +) which is my concern. I'm wanting to do this with say a max delay of around 5secs from loading the text file.my current implemenation of a log file I have of size 85k lines is several minutes which isn't great.
I have written a MDI Text Editor and I have written sub routines for print preview, cut, copy and so on, when testing my program, I click print preview when there are no documents active and the program crashes, the same happens with cut, copy, paste.
I know this is because I have not handled any error exceptions, the truth is im not sure how to.
I have got the code that makes print preview work with my mdi documents, but what code can I use or how can I add it to my existing sub routines to possibly show a message box saying something like "This Function Cannot Be Used With No Active Documents" something like that.
Could I use an If Statement? or Try, Catch, Block? - I am using a different computer as I am currently at work but if anyone needs the code I currently have for my sub routines.
I need to replace the value of 4th part of every record with the value returned from SQL database (Select X from T where C='4Th part from the flatfile').
i am using vb.net 2008 what i want to do is 1. send a selected list of records (with about 10 or 11 fields each) in a text file 2. this text file will b used by another prog. and it will add some data at the end of each record. 3. these additions r to be used by me again by reading it from the text file and then updated again in my database
i have gone through a lot many text file handling eg. but not able to understand what ihave to do. i know i would somehow have to get the fields in parts but cant get how lset will give me the entier string till a fixed length which i can use for the first field but how do i jump to the 2nd field and so on
pls. note that i cant give any spl. character to diffrenciate the end of 1 field and start of 2nd field.i have to gather and send the fields for each record just 1 after the other.
