Creating A SMTP Server That Has The Ability To Hide Ip Addresses In Email Headers?
Sep 5, 2009
I have taken an interest in creating a SMTP server in vb.net that has the ability to hide ip addresses in email headers.I see that some people claim that it's possible around on the internet, but I haven't seen any direct source code to create an anonymous smtp server in visual basic 2008.Now I know that it's legal to send emails via a masked ip address and I believe that it's also fair since some people believe in anonymity, but I am in all means against spammers.
I'm writing a mail component for a VB.Net app, and need to handle mails differently that are "Sent on Behalf" of someone. Although the Outlook Object Model exposes "SentOnBehalfOfName", it doesn't expose the email address for that party. Supposedly it's in the "OtherHeaders" field of the SMTP header, but I don't see an easy way to get to those through the Mailitem object. Am I missing something simple?
i'm tying to send email in my application directly by the smtp server but the server doesn't allow me to do that.The application its used by everyone in the company, so i set the smtp client UseDefaultCredentials to True, but the server replies with this when i try to send an email:[code].....If i set the credentials by hand, the server sends the email. So my problem is how to make this work to everyone? I don't want to have one public/friend var all time in the application with the credentials of the current user?
I am using following code to send email through smtp server, I have tested this code on my machine and its working fine but after deploying the project on server 2003, exe file runs okay but i am not receiving any emails?
'create the mail message
Dim mail As New MailMessage()
Dim smtp As New SmtpClient("smtp.server.europe.com")[code].......
i am working on a my project, which send email to me using gmail.smtp, it works fine on xp, vista, and + some of windows 7 versions, in few pc's i had tried that, and got a issue.here is detail of error i got in there, i am using visual studio 2008 & a internet with proxy server,n my openion its a problem with internet ? maybe ? because when i had used this on my dsl connection it worked.
A client for our company contains an apostrophe in their email name joe's@joe.com. I was advised that this is the correct and current email for the given client. Below is the Expression string I am using with Regex (which I copied from the internet somewhere) to validate email addresses. How can this expression be modified to allow/accept apostrohe's?
im using vb8.net im struggling to make a program that will display email addresses so in other words if im using ms outlook then by the click of the button the program must go in to the windows registry and then look in the place where the email address is and then read that part and display the address in a text box.
I'm using the TcpClient and TcpListener classes to read/write to the network when a request comes in on port 25. All I'm trying to do at the moment is make it so that my server program can receive SMTP messages from other SMTP servers. I've tested in Telnet - if I connect to my own IP on port 25 and type EHLO, MAIL FROM, RCPT TO, DATA etc then all works as it should and the details I entered are logged by the program (it doesnt do anything about delivering these details/email yet).all looks good... but then when I try and just send an email to my domain from my work account I can see that a connection is made to my program and the string "EHLO workdomain.com " is received by my program - my program responds to the remote SMTP server with "250-mydomain.com Hello" and then a CrLF and then "250-OK". After that point however, my app does not receive anything further at all from the server at work. I'm guessing I am doing something wrong with the data I'm returning when it sends EHLO but can anyone point me in the correct direction?
I was using telnet to test with, it seems that I have made it work only with telnet.In telnet each time I type a key the data is passed to the server, however with a real SMTP server it just sends each entire command in one go. So after altering my server a little I can now get it to respond with the 250-OK which I thought it already was doing.. but it still doesnt work. The remote server just sends EHLO and then thats it nothing more.Something interesting, at the moment I am ending all of my responses to the remote server with VbLf - if I change this to VbCrLf (which is what I believe it is meant to be according to the SMTP standard) then I get an infinite amount of empty strings sent to my program (or perhaps some other character that just shows as an empty string in intellisense when stepping through the code). Changing it back to just vbLf or ControlChars.Lf makes it go back to just sending EHLO and then nothing else..
I am sending an email with an attachment using the following Code
Dim msg As New System.Net.Mail.MailMessage(req.EmailFrom, req.EmailTo) Dim att As New System.Net.Mail.Attachment("C:Documents and SettingsmichaelrDesktop1216259.pdf") With msg .Attachments.Add(att)
[code]....
The file size of the attachment is 396KB, upon the recipient receiving the email outlook shows the file size as 543Kb. Strange thing is if I send an email with the same attachment using outlook the file size is 396Kb.I understand that file sizes can increase due to the attachment being base 64 encoded as opposed to just raw binary.What I am failing to see is why outlook send a file which is 396KB in size but in code when sending it, the same file is 543Kb.
I'm trying to get my program to send very simple text email messages. I did do a search beforehand, and found that I was having the same issue as someone else, but the specific question I have was not answered --
I've learned that if you're trying to send mail, you need an SMTP server... I found this list here but every one of them I've tried yields the same "Failure sending mail" error.
Here's my
Dim mail As New MailMessage()
mail.From = New MailAddress("me@mycompany.com") mail.To.Add("destination-email@whatever.com")
[CODE]...
Is the problem that I need to show "credentials" (i.e. user/pass)? If so, what would those credentials be? Can I use my yahoo email SMTP server with my login info to do it? And is this all I'd need to add to add the credentials?
smtp.Credentials = New NetworkCredential("MyUsername", "MyPassword") (before the smtp.Send, of course)
I have created an application and I need to send emails to different addresses. I want to do this inside my application without automating email software like outlook etc. I have used CDO , and different activex like ostrosoft , chilkat etc .But is the same problem : Emails are sended correctly without error messages but :Some emails are received ( like in yahoo adresses), a lot of emails are marked as spam, and all the emails send to hotmail addresses are lost, not received. To send emails I'm using a regular domain, with smtp server, port, user name and password. And when I send emails from the same configuration on outlook express from the same computer, all the emails are received correctly.
I am attempting to extract the email addresses from the body of an email. I download the email to my app, extract the subject etc but i now want to also extract all email addresses from the body of this email.
I have been trying the following code using regex but i only get results if i enter an email address alone in the textbox, as long as i combine it with other text i get no results. [code]...
im trying to write a small app to save emails , it has two forms , one form for sending emails and a second form to edit the mail-list which is saved as a text file list.txt
the code works just fine if list.txt is populated with email addresses separated by commas but when i attempt to change this list in my second form and return to the previous form when i press send i get this error.
format exception was unhandled. The specified string is not in the form required for an e-mail address.
I have a simple email.aspx page that has From:, To:, Subject:, and Body: text boxes. The send button is set to send the email using smtp through System.Net.Mail in ASP.NET 4.
What I'm really trying to do is set the To: address to automatically retrieve all of the email addresses stored in my SQL database table that my customers entered when they registered for updates from my websites, rather than me type each one in by hand. I am wanting it completely automated without any user interaction.
I have looked everywhere for weeks to try to get help and I can't seem to find anything describing what I am trying to do.
I am trying to send email messages to multiple email addresses from a listbox. Here is my code -
For i = 0 To lstbxEmailAddress.SelectedItems.Count - 1 If EmailAddressTo = "" Then EmailAddressTo = CType(lstbxEmailAddress.SelectedItems(i), DataRowView).Item("EmailAddress")
[Code]...
I am able to get the email addresses stored in the variable EmailAddressTo separated by a comma in between addresses. However, it only sends to the first email address. I selected two addresses but it only sent to the first address. How can I add multiple addresses using the To.Add method?
I would like to read a binary file: Windows Address Book. However, since I JUST want to import email addresses from WAB to my application I think I can open and read it myself.If you oepn a WAP file with note pad, email addresses are human readable and just with spaces, not encoded!
I have a VB NET application that reads through my Outlook 2007 Inbox and retrieves email addresses - the only problem I have is that mailitem.recipients returns the CC addresses but not BCC s,
I have the following text that I am trying to parse: "user1@emailaddy1.com" <user1@emailaddy1.com>, "Jane Doe" <jane.doe@ addyB.org>, "joe@company.net" <joe@company.net>
I am using the following code to try and split up the string: Dim groups As GroupCollection Dim matches As MatchCollection Dim regexp1 As New Regex("""(.*)"" <(.*)>") matches = regexp1 .Matches(toNode.InnerText) For Each match As Match In matches groups = match.Groups message.CompanyName = groups(1).Value message.CompanyEmail = groups(2).Value Next
But this regular expression is greedy and is grabbing the entire string up to the last quote after "joe@company.net". I'm having a hard time putting together an expression that will group this string into the two groups I'm looking for: Name (in the quotes) and E-Mail (in the angle brackets).
I need to send an email via SMTP, I have my SMTP in a Linux Centos Server, and I created the software to send emails with VB.NET 2010.After using the namespace : System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient, I receive an exception :
Mailbox name not allowed.The server response was: sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)
how can i send an email in Visual basic? i have tried and i cannot get my code to configure with smtp.gmail.com... I need some code to do this. If it is not worth it, it is not fun - you say programmers are boring but i say they are worth it.

I have written a VB.NET receivables application that takes an invoice number as a parameter from the EBS. I create a PDF of the invoice and use SMTP to generate an email to the vendor, attaching the PDF. I can attach other documents if my program can look them up. It works fine.
My client now is requesting to be able to attach other documents manually to the automatically-generated email. Is there any way to stop in the middle of the process to allow this? [code]...
I'm using this code to send an email via smtp in VB 2008:
Dim smtp As SmtpClient = New SmtpClient("mail.mydomain.org") Dim SMTPUserInfo As NetworkCredential = New NetworkCredential("notifications@mydomain.org", "mypassword")
[Code]....
This has had me stumped for the last week, but I think I got a little closer to atleast identifying the problem when I took it home. Ok, the code above doesn't work when I'm at work for some reason. The exception message is: "Unable to connect to the remote server. ". Seems odd because I am simply using the internet to connect to my smtp server to send an email. When I'm at home, this works just fine.
what is stopping it from going through when I'm at work? If I atleast know that, I may be able to tell our network guys what it is so they can allow it to get out.
