print pdf documents from a vb 2010 app. I have tried 2 techniques that work, but both have some minor issues that I'd like to address. The 1st technique uses command line arguments as follows:
Dim starterStr As String = "/h /t " & Chr(34) & pdfFileName & Chr(34) & " " & Chr(34) & printerName & Chr(34)
Dim starter As New ProcessStartInfo("AcroRd32.exe", starterStr)
Dim print As New Process()
With print
[code]....
The 2nd technique is more aesthetically pleasing to me, but has the same annoying problem of leaving the Acrobat process running after execution. It also doesn't allow me to set the output printer destination (the above code sends the output to the default printer).
1. how to close the Acrobat process
2. how to set an output printer destination using StartInfo arguments

I have a scheduler with multiple views. 1 day, 3 days, 5 days and 7 days.I have figured out how to scale each view and it prints correctly. What I am having problems with is how to allow the user to print these different views from one screen. I have a dropdown box with 1 day, 3, day, 5 day and 7 day. On the scheduler I have put the same procedure as Print and Print2 with just minor differences for the scaling for each view. Print Document1 and PrintDocument2 are on the second form. For some reason, no matter how I call the print document2 I end up with Printdocument1. I have checked it over and over but am getting no where. Would there be any reason I can't use multiple printdocuments on one form for printing different procedures?

I want to be able to send an array of mixed documents to the printer. One document may be a word file, another a tiff file and another a jpeg.At the moment the only way I can do it is to open a seperate print preview for each document which is not good from the users point of view.

I have a series of documents (Crystal reports, Excel workbooks, Word documents, PDF documents) that I need to print out in a collated order, but it seems that each application runs on its own thread and the documents don't come out in the order I intend.Is there a way of using VB.NET code to (a) control the order in which the documents are published; and (b) compelling the system to wait until one document is complete before starting the printing of the next one in the sequence?LDC

What would be the best approach for creating MS Word 2007 documents with vb.net that contains signature lines? I am currently in the planning phase of a project and I'm trying to gather some info. The idea would be to upgrade this program we have already developed(using vb.net) to generate .docx files that contain signature lines that are created progmatically. The signatures would be added later by the user through a workflow in SharePoint I just need to create the document with the lines. I have seen different tutorials on creating word docs, but not sure which method would be the best for what I'm doing. Where should I start looking?
Also, there doesnt seem to be too many tutorials on adding signatures line through code, more specifically how to automate the signature line setup. e.g. Who should sign, signers name, signers email address. How do I set these paramaters through code?

I want to create a program to simplify my document creation. I'm thinking creating the basic building blocks in Word 2010 would be the easiest and it would also be easy to manage in the future. I would like to create a WinForm and use some check boxes to select which items to be in the document and then have a document created from that.
I would also add some specific text using bookmarks in Word (names, address, etc..). My general thought is create several word documents as the basic building blocks that would then be merged/combined/stitched into one single document (dependent upon what has been selected), that would then be saved as a .docx and/or a pdf.
The general format would be "blurb A - product 1, product 2, ect.. - system specs". I have 14 basic blocks of information with a title, paragraph, and image. Generally each product is about 1-5 paragraphs and takes up a whole page or half a page in Word. I have never worked with a Word document via VB.NET VS2010 Pro and Office 2010.

I am not an expert programmer and am just getting familiar with .NET office automation. I have two questions:
1. For me to create word documents from my code on a server, does word have to be installed on the server? My test server does not have word installed. Is there a way to have the code open word on the user's machine in this case?
2. I am trying out some code for creating word documents. It works fine on my machine. However, when I try to run it on server it gives me an error.. "Cannot create ActiveX component." Is this a permissions issue or related to the fact that the server does not have word installed?

I have the fonts needed to create barcodes and all the code written to generate them inclusive of the check digit. I have a SQL table that contains UPC codes for each item. I have searched high and low for an example in creating barcode labels and printing them however, I'm unable to find anything that does not require SDK to be purchased or mail merge in WORD etc. I need to be able to do this in VB .net for Windows. My label will have a picture of the product in the upper left hand corner of each label.

I've been asked to get the page counts for documents stored as tif files. What I have now is looping through our third party software to open them and then get the page count. I can't stop the image from flashing and it is very slow. Does anyone know of a way to loop through them quickly and can the page counts (one image can have many documents)?

I am using VB 2008 & Access Databases for creating WinForm Applications. Also i am using Crystal Reports for Report solution. my question is How do i created reports such a way that they can be printed in faster Ascii Format on any DotMatrix printer. The default true type fonts make printing very slower.
I tried to use "Draft 10 cpi" font which come to available me after i installed a correct driver for my Epson printer. which also helped me overcome this problem. however it wont be the scenario with all my clients i.e. they might have different printers having different Make with different drivers installed. i have tried to open such project on there PC but the printing wont come in Draft instead the fonts get expanded too much & the print wont come right.

I have some operations of Picture Boxes etc being performed. After the user finishes with the formatting, I want to give the user an option to print the work.But its the work is not done on the Rich Text Box but on picture boxes. I am not even sure, how many of the picture boxes would be there after the user finishes the job, since I have provided option for dynamically creating picture boxes as well.

I basically have an application that generates reports in a .html file, I use a .html file for the ease of making tables and formatting text.Now I would like to introduce a way of printing the reports from my program. Because I use a .html file, the formatting would not the correct if I was to print it directly from my application (as far as I know). For this reason, I would like to print it just like my web browser would have in order to keep the tabular data intact and the text formatting.

I'm creating an application which has an scheduler to print and it checks if there is a pending job on the print queue before it prints the next file. I use a timer which checks if there is any file to be printed on my database. Example, the timer ticks and selected 10 files to be printed, it should print the 10 files 1 at a time, if there's no print queue, that's the only time the next file should print. I think another timer is required which will keeps on checking if print queue is done. How will i do this?

I am setting up printing (to a printer or file) in my application, and it doesn't seem to print out any new lines that I specify. Here's some of my printing
' Loop through all of the text in the array
For i = 0 To 9
If i Mod 2 = 0 Then
[Code]....
When I print the output to a PDF file using PDFCreator, it stacks all of the letters onto each other rather than creating new lines at the places I've specified. I've also tried using vbNewLine instead of vbCrLf, but I haven't had any luck. I searched the web for this but couldn't find anything about it.

The problem is that if I choose 10 documents they have to go through this process 10 times. Is there any way I can load up all the documents into the PrintPreviewDialog at once?

I have saved documents into my SQL Server 2005 database and they have been converted to bytes. My web page is made with VB.NET in Visual Studio 2008 with ASP.NET. The following is exactly what I need to achieve;
1. Allow user select document with a button
2. Select the document from the SQL Server table
3. Allow the user to download this document.
The error I am getting is that Category is set as Byte and it can't be passed through GetDocument because filePath is a String. I think that I am pulling the file path from the database wrong
[Dim Category As Byte() = NothingDim fs As FileStreamDim br As BinaryReaderDim document As Byte()Dim documentFilePath As String
Protected Sub ImageButton1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.ImageClickEventArgs) Handles ImageButton1.Click
myConnection = New SqlConnection("server=ORLA-PCSQLEXPRESS;database=Edpac;
