I'm using a richtextbox and I format the text (color) during keypress.. (like visual basic language: text in black, "dim" in blue, "comments" in green...) I use selection properies to do this, ok, work fine, but I see the selection and unselection.. Ok, is very fast, but it's annoying.. there is a way to format the text and hide the selection?
I have a listview that is populated with data. When I select a row the data is added to my textboxes for viewing editing etc. I want the row to stay focused while I am editing a textbox. I have set the property Hide selection to false for my list view but I still lose focus of the row.
I'm writing a standalone application in VB.NET using Visual Studio 2005. I want to display/hide a bunch of Buttons based on the selected value of a ComboBox. Each selection would have a different set of Buttons to display, and I'd like to have them arranged in a nice grid.
Driving a TabControl with the ComboBox value would be the kind of behavior I want, but I don't want it to look like a TabControl to the user because it might be confusing. Is there a way to do this?
Basically, I'd like Selection1 of the ComboBox to show Buttons 1-4, Selection2 to show Buttons 5-11, Selection3 to show (maybe) Buttons 1, 3, 5, 6, and 8, etc., have them arranged nicely, and have the GUI show only the ComboBox and the buttons.
I'm using SelectionMode as Extended (multi select) with WPF DataGrid. The SelectedIndex value always returns the first row that was selected, irrespective of the selection direction. For example, if I start at index 0 and end at 4, I can work with it fine. But if I start from 4 and go to 0, SelectedIndex returns 4 and I don't have a clue to add the number of selected cells or subtract. Is there a way to find the selection direction?
It seems that on clicking datagridview column header, the column will be automatically sorted based on the column type. I have a column showing some numbers. If column type is string, it sorts "1","20","3" into "1","20","3". If column type is double, it sorts into "1","3","20" which is the result that I want. However, there might be some erros in the numbers and error messages(text) will show in the cell instead of numbers. So I cannot set the column type as double. I want to ignore these error messages and sort all the numbers. How can I do this?
Also, I need to add some background colors to different rows in datagridview. So in the column header click event, I call the bkgColor Sub to achieve this. My question is that how can I override the sorting method in this event?
Private Sub DataGridView1_ColumnHeaderMouseClick(sender As Object, e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellMouseEventArgs) Handles DataGridView1.ColumnHeaderMouseClick Try
there is a datagrid in a form. i need, when a user hit tab in a particular cell, another form holding a list of records needed to be displayed, allowing the user to select one or more than one records, and after selection all those records are needed to get populated in the first datagrid.
Our site is developing against a 3rd party API (Wonderware) that returns datasets and datatables from certain calls. The issue we are having with some of the calls is the data returned is more than we want to show to the end users. We are binding the data to a datagrid, and will sometimes get back 20+ columns of data we don't need to show. Is there a way to filter the datatable of columns before binding it to the datagrid? Right now we are using the datagrid to hide the columns, but I think it would be better to strip out the columns of data we don't need before binding to the grid.
I am having trouble to make a form that displays the picture of the student which all his info is in a datagrid. I used the following
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load ' TODO: This line of code loads data into the 'BdSyngentaDataSet.Training' table. You can move, or remove it, as needed
[Code].....
It worked. But, when i click on the next student and go back to the previous, the picture is not there. When I stop the debugging and start again the picture is there but it stops displaying again after going back and forward.
I'm having an issue wherein after I run a search filtering a datagrid, the corresponding datadetails will not update anymore when a new item is selected in the datagrid.I would like it so after clicking an item in the datagrid, the details update automatically.
[URL] The problem is, after running a search (or hitting 'show all') the label/details no longer change when selecting a new item in the datagrid.[URL]
Private Sub Sheet1BindingNavigatorSaveItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Me.Validate() Me.Sheet1BindingSource.EndEdit()
[code]....
To clarify, the search itself filters the datagrid perfectly as intended....it just seems to stop the details from updating when new items are selected which is my problem.
I am still having issues with the combo box. I have the correct query. I have four tables in MS Access. I need to create a form in Visual Basic that has a combo box and a datagrid. The selection from the combo box will display all relevant information about that person on the datagrid. For example, if I select John Doe (from the combo box) the datagrid should display: [Code] How do I add John Doe to the combo box and link this query to it, when upon being selected, it displays the result in the datagrid?
Am using vb.net 08 and i have a datagridview with 3 columns. The first column has a button as the columntype with the name "UserName". Now, i want if the user clicks only on the UserName which is the first column, but not the entire row, it should display the value of the UserName column only. If other columns are clicked are apart from the UserName, nothing should display. So there will be a for loop that will itera te through all the rows of the datagridview.
I have been looking all over the place trying to figure out how I can programally select a certain Cell in a row. What I am attempting to do is when doing Rowvalidating, and I find that the user has not filled out a column, I do a msgbox, then want to have the cell have the focus, so user can enter in the data. IE, like the way you can cause a text box to have the focus.
I can't for the life of me remember what that first(non column) is called.. its where you it has the right pointer or where it has the * for a new row. Anyways... I don't want to see it.. and want to remove or hide it from the datagridview I am working with...
What is that column called? and how can it be removed or hiden?
i had a dataset that return the following data CategoryDI, CategoryName, CateoryPicture im displaying these data using gridview however i want to display only CategoryName hide categoryid, and CategoryPicture im uinsg the following code but it not working
Is it possible to hide a listview control column? I want to have the first column hidden but with value held in it. I have Columns like StudentID, Student Name and StudentAddress and i am using StudentID as a primary key that is used to manipulate database. Below is my code. My code given below populates the list view. This function takes the SQL as query string and ListView as the name of the control.
I am binding a DataSet objetc as a datasource to my GridView. However i want to omit first column from being displayed. If i write GridView1.Columns(0).Visible = False
then i get error saying there was some indexing error. How can this be acheived ??? Also a weird thing is that when I try to count columns it displays me count as 0
So I have a datagridview being populated with data from a database. At this point a user may or may not selected (via mouse click / key press) one or more rows within the datagridview.I need to (upon selection) create a new dataset, datatable and add rows with the some data from the said datagridview.
For example, if a table had nothing but names, e.g.
Joe Sean Larry Chris
Upon the user clicking, dragging a selection over Sean and Larry to add those names to a new dataset so I can pass it to another method for further processing.
[Code]...
Input array is longer than the number of columns in this table. It looks like I'm either missing a column declaration or adding the table to the set?
I would like to know how I can show and hide data based off of a value in a column.
Example. My table has 3 columns Name, Password, and Tel#
:Pseudo Code if Name or Column(0).Row(0) = "Shawn" then . Column(1).Row(0).Forecolor = System.Highlight . Column(2).Row(0).Forecolor = System.Highlight
[Code].....
I placed my code in the rowprepaint event of the datagridview and on start up I get the results I am looking for. However, if the user selects the row or a cell in the row then the value will display.
I don't want the value to show even if the row is selected.
is there a way to hide a column i a listview? I know that theres a remove but it would be a pain to remake it when the user wants to bring back the column
