Db Update - Get All The Data From Table And Set It As The Datasource Of A DataGridView

I have this

which is supposed to get all the data from my table and set it as the datasource of a DataGridView. You can see where I put in two msgbox's to view how many columns are in the DGV before and after the "update". The first count gives me 22, which is the correct number. After the .DataSource and .DataMember lines are ran, the count jumps to 41 and I have no clue why. All I want to do is clear a dataset, fill it with the new data and set it as the data source of a datagridview. It appears the info is being saved to the table correctly too.

I simply cannot understand or see when a DGV's DataSource (a DataTable in my case) get's updated when a new row has been added to the DGV by the user. I have looked at row counts in the DataTable at every possible event and cannot "get" the correct number of rows (which I ultimately need to "get" the GetChanges(DataRowState.Added) of the DataTable.So, here's what I've done.1. The DGV is populated on the FormLoad event. It includes a ComboBoxColumn which has it's own datasource. All fine.Now, let's say initially there is 1 single row in the DGV. There is also and "empty" row at the bottom of the DGV, all cell values are empty.if the user Clicks the ComboBoxCol and chooses an item, then this actually creates a NEW friggin' row, RIGHT?!No. Not exactly. At least NOT in the DataTable (The DGV's datasource).I attempted to "check". Looked at the editingComboBox_SelectionChangeCommitted event:

I have a datagridview with a datatable in a dataset as a datasource. When i add a new row in the datagridview it is automaticaly added to the to the underliyng datatable (its datasource) . However it will only be addad after i click another datagridviewrow. I would like that update to be just after i added the row or after i edit one of its cells and not only after i click a different row.

My application must display some data in Datagridview (status of COM ports communication) and i Used .mdb databases before for faster search and Datagridview update. How i understand Datagridview is importing data from DataTable and data in DataTable is imported from .mdb file, so i decided to make shortcut - stop to using .mdb file (data must be erased every time application start and it is useless make .mdb file and erase it every time, becouse it is increasing even when drop is used) and using only DataTable..
I want to row in Datagridview change it color to red when it's Collumn(6).text countains %error% string..
When Error in COM port is starting, i can fast find row in DataTable for that port and write information that Error accured for that port and DataGridview automatically updates:

I have a DataGridView to which I've set a list of objects to the DataSource. (I'm in VS 2005 using VB.) I created the DataGridView by creating a Data Source of type AssetIdentifier and dragging that Data Source onto my form. I want to update the DataGridView when the selection in either a combo box or another DataGridView changes. (Below I'm considering a click in another DataGridView.)
The following works:

In this case, I always knew that assetIdList would have at least one element. I'd update the list, and reset the data source of the DataGridView to that list, and all was well. When I applied this to another situation, for which I couldn't guarantee that the list would have at least one element, things would work fine as long as I had at least one element in the list, but if the list became empty, the DataGridView threw System.IndexOutOfRangeException a number of times.
The rows in the DataGridView would not go away if I went from a non-zero number of elements to zero. I tried a workaround, which was to remove all of the elements, add one "dummy" element, and then re-bind the list to the control and it still didn't work. Also, following all of those exceptions, I'd get other similar exceptions when I hovered over the cells in the DataGridView. Some of the members of AssetIdentifier were "Nothing" but I fixed that in the constructor, and the exceptions still occur.

I have a datasource linked to a table in a database.When I wnated to display this data on a form, I just dragged the datasource onto the form and it did everything for me, including the code to fill it;
Me.ProjectFileTableAdapter.Fill(Me.ProjectFileDataSet.ProjectFile)
My problem, is that this program will have multiple users, and I don't other users to be able to see each others data. So the problem with the above statement is that it fills the table with ALL the data in the datasource. I have a DataGridView bound to a data table. I have one column where I permit updates. After I fill the table (at form load), I make an update to this column Then I attempt to update the change back to the bound table. I get the error 'Update requires a valid Updatecommand when passed dataRow collection with modified rows'. I have seen some examples on-line to define, load, and update but since I have the generated datagridview with bindings, shouldn't the update method me a simple 1-liner? [Code]

I am developing a Windows Forms Based Application using dbo.database and Visual Basic: I populate some Orders in DataGridView1 using LINQ 2 SQL from "tbl_Orders" where OrderStatus is "Pending". I change OrderStatus Column Type to "CheckBox" in DataGridView, Now I want that when I select some records (Orders) by checking respective checkboxes and click on "btn_UpdateStatus" Button, program pick OrderID's of only selected orders and update OrderStatus of Only selected Records (Orders) from "Pending" to "Completed" in Database Table "tbl_Orders" and DataGridView1 should be Refreshed. I have an application in VB2008 and using SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. I found an error in a value that I had entered in the SQL Table and want to correct it. All I needed to do was to change a numerical value in one of the columns from 18.4 to 16.4. This table is used to fill a combobox drop down menu in the application. After I changed the number in the data row, I saved the change and ran the applocation in debug but the original number still appears in the drop down menu. If I exit Visual Studio and re-open it, the change still appears in the database table but does not appear in the combobox, when I run it in bebug.I have made changes like this many times in this application and this database table, As I recall, all I had to do was save the change and I have never had it fail to update the change in the data row.

I have a windows form program that pulls data from a sql server. That same data is being read from a ASP.NET website that sets properties for the site. The SQL server has 3 tables: tblWebPage, tblObjects, tblProperties. and 6 views for the 6 web page: vWebPage01, vWebPage02, vWebPage03..ect. When the program loads you see buttons for each web page on the site. When the user clicks on the Home Page it loads this data: [code]Now, the problem lies in updating vWebPage02, vWebPage03, ect.. I assume with the same data I can copy my form with the code and change the form name and the data set to build and update. So that's just what I did changed the form name where needed and changed "vWebPage01" to "vWebPage02".When I tested the program My "vWebPage01" form it built and updated no problem. when I went to test "vWebPage02" it built the dataset and table adapter fine but it did not update at all.

I have looked through the entire internet (well that's what it feels like) to find this out.Tables - Authors and Titles add new title must be linked to an author, so I need to check that the author exists, if so, update the titles table with the user data from the textboxes. If the author does not exist, I need to insert the author first & last name into the author table, then the title info into the title table.this is in VB, using ASP.NET, and my database is a file, I'm not using SQL server, just Visual Studio 2008.

Attempting to run an SQL statement to UPDATE a column in a table with new data. The column being updated is defined as varchar(40) and the new data is 41 bytes (varchar(41)). I get a generic 'data will be truncated' error message, but no detail on which column caused the problem. I've attached a sample VB program to illustrate the issue. In this scenario, Company is defined as varchar(40).
My question: Can I get a more detailed error message? i.e. can I get an error message that tells me the row and column that the truncation occurs in? Often times, I may be updating hundreds or thousands of rows and only one value in one column from the source file is too large for a database cell. As a related question, does each OLEDB provider create its own error messages. i.e. will the MS SQL Server OLEDB provider potentially give different text in the error message than say the MS Jet OLEDB provider?

I have two data tables. the second related to the first. Using a datagridview for the first table I am able to enter and save data ok. if I run the code twice in a row the data is still there. When I edit the data in the related table in it's own datagirdview the data is there and displays correctly, but on running the code a second time the related data is lost. In both cellendedit events I am using

I am creating a project in VB.NET in which one of the reports require that the name of employees should be displayed as column names and whatever work they have done for a stated period should appear in rows below that particular column.Now as it is clear, the columns will have to be added at runtime. Am using an ODBC Data source to populate the grid. Also since a loop will have to be done to find out the work done by employees individually, so the number of rows under one column might be less or more than the rows in the next column.Is there a way to create an empty data table and then update its contents based on columns and not add data based on addition of new rows.

I'm using VB 2010 Express with a local Access DB. I am having trouble determing whether there are changes in a DataGridView to save back to the underlying DB.
The DB has been copied to the project directory and its properties (by selecting it in the Solution Explorer) include Copy to Output Directory: Copy Always, so I know that any changes I make when running a build will disappear on the next build. The problem I'm having is within a run / test session, working with the application.
The Access database has the following connection string, with Application scope:

I am getting an incorrect repsonse after an update to a table. In my RowUpdating event I have the following code which builds an Update Parameter to call an SP to update a table. I must be doing something wrong but everything runs fine. My rowsAffected variable reports 1 after the update, but the table never gets the data.[code]I found a solution that is working. On the original DataSource for the update command I needed to add the following.[code]This in essence allows the original data source to call the SP. Note: that the command type needs to stay as TEXT not Stored Procedure as one might think.
