which is supposed to get all the data from my table and set it as the datasource of a DataGridView. You can see where I put in two msgbox's to view how many columns are in the DGV before and after the "update". The first count gives me 22, which is the correct number. After the .DataSource and .DataMember lines are ran, the count jumps to 41 and I have no clue why. All I want to do is clear a dataset, fill it with the new data and set it as the data source of a datagridview. It appears the info is being saved to the table correctly too.

I have a problem that hopefully someone can shed light on. My OleDBdataadapters and OledbTableadapters have gone on strike In a simple vb.net 2005 pro project I have an Access 2003 .mdb with 2 tables each with 1 primary key and all other fields allowing zero length and not required. The database (not read only) is included in the project (see connection string below which works because data is presented on bound forms).
Although each table's data is displayed on one of 2 bound windows forms, it just refuses to update, add new or delete. I've deleted and recreated forms, etc, using wizards and just run time code but the problem is still there. I can change data manually in the mdb. The code below refers to a site mdb table and was wizard generated. I added an update query to the TableAdapter using the wizard, see sql below.

I'm using VB 2010 Express with a local Access DB. I am having trouble determing whether there are changes in a DataGridView to save back to the underlying DB.
The DB has been copied to the project directory and its properties (by selecting it in the Solution Explorer) include Copy to Output Directory: Copy Always, so I know that any changes I make when running a build will disappear on the next build. The problem I'm having is within a run / test session, working with the application.
The Access database has the following connection string, with Application scope:

I have an application doing the following:
- Treeview with customers
- on clicking a treeview, for every project of this customer, a new MDIchild opens, where the products of this project are displayed
- the MDIchild is basically a DataGridView, which is connected to the products-table via a DataView
my Problem comes after changing a value in the products DataGridView:
- if i do not change the row, the changes will not go back to the database after an update
- if i do change the row after entering a new value, everything works fine
The strange thing is, that in both cases, the value in the DataTable is changed, the DataSet is "hasChanges=True" and the DataRow's state is "Modified".
I want to save changes made in the Datagridview back to the database. I came accross Martin's solution HEREbut get an error: NUllReferenceExpection was unhandled. Object Reference not set to an instance of an object. Here's my code:
