View 1 Repliesim working on a little app for my self, to make my life a little more convenient. I have some media keys on my laptop, and I would like to use them with itunes while it is minimized. I found a app that did it for me a long time ago, but cant seem to find it now. But I would like to try my hand at my own, and I've managed to do so, but, my app has to be in focus for it to work. is there any way to still detect when these media keys are pressed while my app is out of focus?

View 2 RepliesHow do I bind a keyboard key to an event? Everything I have found so far is related to using the keyboard for shortcuts to buttons on the form. I guess you could say I want to do the opposite.
For example: This is just basic code I did while learning how to use the xBox controller with my windows forms.
If currentState.Buttons.LeftShoulder = ButtonState.Pressed Then
tbLB.Text = " Pressed"
Else
tbLB.Text = " Released"
End If
Instead of changing the text in my textbox I want to have the left shoulder button or maybe my Dpad act as the "Tab" (let me worry about the controller I've got that handled, as not not confuse anyone) key on the keyboard in order to navigate through my form by tabbing upward or downward through a menu. Then maybe use the "A" button on the controller as the "Enter" key.
Where in: Replacing "tbLB.Text = " Pressed"" with code that would press virtually press the "TAB" key.
Of course using the xBox controller is dealing with XNA, but at this point I have figured out some basics of using the controller with my forms, just need to know how to mimic the keyboard keys.
What I'm trying to do is get the form to catch any key on the keyboard that has been pressed so it will reset a timer?

View 5 RepliesI am making an Auto Typer and it was going all good until I came apon a mysterious problem. When sending the space key or enter key with "Send Keys. SendWait" they come up with their numerical equivalent, 32 and 13.For example, a user types "test" into the textbox, and clicks "{Text} {Space} {Text}" in the options menu. The user clicks start and the output is "Text32Text32Text".Is there any way to just send the keys and make them appear as if you typed them on a keyboard?

View 1 RepliesI'm developing a program in WPF (VB) that relies on keyboard navigation only.In my program, I have a listbox that displays up to 20000 items.What I want is that when the listbox has keyboard focus, and I move to the bottom item that is visible (using ArrowDown), I want the focus to move to the next item outside the listbox. I'm using PgUp and PgDown to scroll the listbox contents, and text search to jump to items.Is there a way to detect if the focused/selected item is the last/first visible item in the listbox?If so, I could just use:
ListBox1.MoveFocus(New TraversalRequest(FocusNavigationDirection.Down))
I had previously made a simple Pong program which use keyboard to control. The control includes "s" to start the game, "p" to pause, "r" to resume and left, right to move the paddle specifically. This program work with little problem. The first problem I encounter is if I insert even one single button on the form to display instruction, the arrow keys will no longer work. But I get around it by using Menu Strip instead.
Then, I am required to put this program, among others into a MDI program. And this is where the problem happen. If I have this Pong game loaded, and I press "s", "p", or "r" keys, it have no problem, but if I press the "left" or "right" keys, it will not move. I am speculating that maybe the focus is lost when arrow keys is pressed or something similar, but I have absolutely no idea what is happening. I have tried giving focus back to the form if focus is lost, but to no avails. And this is the code for the movement of the paddle. This reside on a form, the movement itself is passed to another class. The MDI parent is on another form. [Code]
I want to make an app which on loading sits in the system tray and even after I open another program (say notepad or vlc or anything) i.e. even when the app is not in focus and if I press "G" on my keyboard, the tray icon should show a tool tip - "key G is pressed". I have tried several codes but nothing works when the app goes out of focus. I can use Register Hot Key [url] but it needs a modifier also (like Ctrl or Alt etc. along with my key G). So, is there any way I can achieve this? something which many tray icons do like antivirus apps, etc. and I do not want to use AutoHotkey application.

I've adapted the code from this link to use the WinXP on-screen keyboard (osk) for a touch-screen application written in VB.NET v3.5. The osk fills the bottom half of screen etc. and behaves fine except for one little quirk. If the user clicks or taps anywhere on the 'background' area behind/between the virtual keys (within the main osk window), the color of the area changes to that of the keys when any further key subsequently gets focus. The outline of all keys is then lost because they are visually merged into the osk window background. The osk must then be terminated and re-launched to remove the confusing appearance.
This behaviour only occurs when the osk window is set to the child style (i.e. when the menu is hidden), using the SetWindowLong P/Invoke function - e.g.
SetWindowLong(OskProcess.MainWindowHandle, GWL_STYLE, WS_CHILD)
It's as if the entire area behind the keys is being treated as another key when tapped/clicked, whereupon its color is 'restored' after losing focus.Is there any way to intercept and somehow override the focus event of this osk background area?
This isn't really a VB specific question. It's .Net in general... if you have ideas in another .Net language, let me know... I know most of the .Net languages (I don't know that foxtrot or what not weird ones). Furthermore this isn't a 'I don't know the method on some class I should be using' kind of question, it's a design/problem solving kind of question.I'd like to know how you'd approach the problem with in the boundaries set.

View 1 RepliesHow Do I Make Button.click Event Perform both the enter and period(del) keys on the numeric keypad? [Code] Case Keys.Enter and Case Keys.Separator do not work. Nor does anything like Keys.OEMPeriod for the period(del) key. I've also tried calling the enter key in a KeyPress event etc. But to no avail. Any ideas? I'm trying to mimic Windows calc.exe for a school project and thought I'd try throwing in a few extras such as numeric keypad functionality.

I am working on a carputer app, and it will be relatively basic with common tools. I am going to make an onscreen keyboard that fits the style of my app, but I want to make it a seperate application from the main app. All I want it to do is is have my keyboard become visible whenever I enter a text field of any application, whether it be programmed by me or a third-party app. Think about this in the way of a smart phone... Whenever you enter a textfield the system keyboard is displayed.
View 2 RepliesMy application has a form which contains several Textboxes where user is required to fill up data. Once data is filled up user can click on "Save" button to save the data. I have added lost focus events to all textboxes so as to validate user input. When I click on cancel button, i want to detect cancel button click, but textbox lost focus is fired first so I get error message for textbox before my code moves to cancel button click handler. Is there any way to detect button click before lost focus event?
