I've adapted the code from this link to use the WinXP on-screen keyboard (osk) for a touch-screen application written in VB.NET v3.5. The osk fills the bottom half of screen etc. and behaves fine except for one little quirk. If the user clicks or taps anywhere on the 'background' area behind/between the virtual keys (within the main osk window), the color of the area changes to that of the keys when any further key subsequently gets focus. The outline of all keys is then lost because they are visually merged into the osk window background. The osk must then be terminated and re-launched to remove the confusing appearance.
This behaviour only occurs when the osk window is set to the child style (i.e. when the menu is hidden), using the SetWindowLong P/Invoke function - e.g.
SetWindowLong(OskProcess.MainWindowHandle, GWL_STYLE, WS_CHILD)
It's as if the entire area behind the keys is being treated as another key when tapped/clicked, whereupon its color is 'restored' after losing focus.Is there any way to intercept and somehow override the focus event of this osk background area?
How Do I Make Button.click Event Perform both the enter and period(del) keys on the numeric keypad? [Code] Case Keys.Enter and Case Keys.Separator do not work. Nor does anything like Keys.OEMPeriod for the period(del) key. I've also tried calling the enter key in a KeyPress event etc. But to no avail. Any ideas? I'm trying to mimic Windows calc.exe for a school project and thought I'd try throwing in a few extras such as numeric keypad functionality.

I need to make an on-screen keyboard for a touchscreen application. I have my main application popping up a child form that shows my keyboard layout. When I press a key on the keyboard form I need it's value to go into a textbox on the main form. So how do I send a keys text value back to the main app?

seems to launch it okay but how can I then "find" it and minimise/normalise its window?Also, would it be better if I launched it differently? I've tried missing out the 'explorer':

I'm using PgUp and PgDown to scroll the listbox contents, and text search to jump to items.Is there a way to detect if the focused/selected item is the last/first visible item in the listbox?If so, I could just use:

I want to make an app which on loading sits in the system tray and even after I open another program (say notepad or vlc or anything) i.e. even when the app is not in focus and if I press "G" on my keyboard, the tray icon should show a tool tip - "key G is pressed". I have tried several codes but nothing works when the app goes out of focus. I can use Register Hot Key [url] but it needs a modifier also (like Ctrl or Alt etc. along with my key G). So, is there any way I can achieve this? something which many tray icons do like antivirus apps, etc. and I do not want to use AutoHotkey application.

On page 1 I have a textbox.I also have the following Set the focus to the first textbox control on the first tab page.txtbMonthlyUsage.Focus()I can not get the focus into the textbox although its Enabled = True, TabIndex = 1, TabStop = True.
With all that I can not get the focus to work.But when I activate the 2nd page and come back to the 1st page when the form is displayed, it works like its supposed to.What am I missing?Do I need to activate page 1 as the form is loading? How do I do that?
I'm trying to write a Database manager in VB (2010) that updates a SQL database that compiles and summarizes my financial records. The code works, but I'm having issues with one exception that I think I understand, but can't circumvent. I've built an I/O form that enters a series of purchases and sales into a temporary datatable. After review of the list, the program connects to the database and executes the SQL. That all works and isn't a problem.

I am creating a "form1" and adding "WebBrowser1" . Let's say the URL that I put on the WebBrowser1 has a username and password. So that, this will require a on screen keyboard in order to type the username and password. In this case, I do not want to use external OSK (on screen keyboard), what I want is to create some numerik numbers or letters on my form1 with buttons and then type it on the URL.

View 12 RepliesEssentially what I would like to do is press a button, this then triggers a code to focus on a certain program, focus on a certain textbox and input the text from the clipboard not via pasting.
Now I have been able to achieve all of the above fairly easily except for one crucial component, focusing on the desired component. This program is essentially to automate some data entering for users via hotkeys, therefore I can't simply simulate tabs as it will not always be in the same position. So now comes the question, how do I focus on specific textboxes/controls in other programs?
I've been able to find huge walls of code with no explanation beyond "this is a concept". However no documentation or relevant examples.
Problem: I wanted data input text boxes that only accept numerical values between 0 and 999. I could check for this during a later 'save' routine, but instead preferred to warn the user at the input stage; so I chose masked textboxes - setting the mask to "000". However these boxes appear and behave differently. They have a row of 3 underscores - which I don't want - and also seem more difficult to hit with the cursor. How can I get Masked TextBoxes to appear and behave exactly as normal ones?

View 6 RepliesMy touch screen keyboard is highly customizable interface and has every component I need except for sending keys, anyone see a problem with this. Originally when I was creating it I was going to use the Forms.SendKeys.Send() but it's a WPF application... no go. For starters VB.Net in its infinite wisdom decided it would not handle default form messages. Go figure.
Or perhaps, this is my real problem, I can't get the WPF application to stop getting focus. I want it to act like the windows touch keyboard, but Every action that occurs in the transparent WPF makes that application the active one. I want events to still occur but I need the active window to be the window you wish to type into, like notepad.
Any Suggestions on what I should do, to make my WPF not focusable and to send keyboard buttons to the focused (or other) window? PS, I'm using WPF in Visual Studio 2010 in Vb.Net (I can use C# Code to!)

View 3 RepliesThis IS a project for the class. HOWEVER, this class is *NOT* a programming class, but is called "Usability Engineering", which aims its goals at creating a better user interaction. I'm not sure of what the "homework" policy is here, but what I am asking isn't for getting a grade, as the grade isn't based on my ability to program here. But nonetheless I am a C++ programmer at heart and VB makes me groan a little bit.
^ The program: Our goal with this project is to make a program with only five buttons (Aiming to be a cellphone type system, I know, the resolution is huge.), The buttons are the arrow keys, and enter. When the user selects a textbox, it changes the focus to the keyboard and then allows input via moving around and hitting enter.
My first problem right now, is that when I use my arrow keys, if I press RIGHT or DOWN, it will only go right, and if i press left or up, it only goes left.
The second problem, is that the buttons are out of order... when I am on "P", and press right, it actually hops down to the space bar button instead. I'm sure this is just some sort of container that can be modified, but I'm unsure of where it is.
I have managed to format a text box to be formatted to two decimal places, and to only accept numbers.Only problem is i need to allow the backspace so that if someone types something wrong, they can backspace and type the correct number
