Can't Clear Textbox Text Property When It Contains A Numerical Value

I'm trying to write a Database manager in VB (2010) that updates a SQL database that compiles and summarizes my financial records. The code works, but I'm having issues with one exception that I think I understand, but can't circumvent. I've built an I/O form that enters a series of purchases and sales into a temporary datatable. After review of the list, the program connects to the database and executes the SQL. That all works and isn't a problem.

way to clear textboxes in VB.Net and what is the difference between the two methods? I have also seen people be critical of folk using clear objects on their forms and i can see why but in this case, i am only learning.

I have a textbox with text (to tell the user what to put in the box) when they click inside the box, i need either all the text to disappear or it all to be selected so that it is easier for the user to enter the data but pref the first.
it is a textbox to collect the date (in relation to my other post) when the program runs, the DD will be displayed in a textbox, i need it to go when the user clicks to enter the day or to be highlighted/selected (NOT THE TEXTBOX, just the TEXT INSIDE)

I want to type the characters from right to left (to behave as a right alignment). But I am not supposed to use the Right Alignment property or the RighttoLeft property of a text box.For example, I want to enter the characters of a string from right and each character should shift one space left so that the user can enter another character after that.

I trying to fade-in the application startup form using the forms opacity and a timer control.I dont know if I am using the right approch to achieve this so suggestions for alternatativ approches are welcome.I have a form with a few randomly select controls on it, one of which is a textbox.When I run the code, the form and all its controls reflect the changes to the form opacity property set through the timer_tick event except the textbox.The textbox remains clear all the time and I would like to know: Why?[code].....

i wan to display the text from combobox into the textbox and clear the combobox text when click on the button.But when i select another text from the combobox and click the button, the textbox display and overwrite the previous text.How can i do so that when click, textbox display text from combobox and clear combobox text. Then click again, display the new text at 2nd line of the textbox without deleting the previous text?

Problem: I wanted data input text boxes that only accept numerical values between 0 and 999. I could check for this during a later 'save' routine, but instead preferred to warn the user at the input stage; so I chose masked textboxes - setting the mask to "000". However these boxes appear and behave differently. They have a row of 3 underscores - which I don't want - and also seem more difficult to hit with the cursor. How can I get Masked TextBoxes to appear and behave exactly as normal ones?

I just start working with VB. In a programme I need to keep the value in text property after programme closed.That is why I want to change (override) Text property in TextBox.Then this value will be default value when I open the programme again.I will assing a value to textbox1 in a Sub.

I have managed to format a text box to be formatted to two decimal places, and to only accept numbers.Only problem is i need to allow the backspace so that if someone types something wrong, they can backspace and type the correct number

How do I take the input of a text box as as string and write out a procedure for a button that takes the input and outputs a variable in the list box. For example i want to assign various values to strings such as the price of a chair = $10 and price of table = $40 . I could be way off here, but it almost seems like ID.IDlist points to the address of mylist and so when mylist is cleared so is ID.Idlist. It seems as though the reason the second block of code works is because I am creating a new list in memory for each ID object and ID.IDlist just points to it... is that right?

This is my first post on this forum, so please excuse me if I'm posting wrong. Anyway, I've been having an issue that I've never seen before and is driving me nut, I have a windows form on which I have placed many textboxes that display information from a MS SQL database. The user can then change these values and hit a "save" button which writes the changes to the database. I also have certain textboxes that with the "on leave" event (after a user enters a possible new value) trigger a method that recalculates some of the other fields based on the new information. Hopefully that all makes sense.
So the problem is, when I run through this "recalc" method the first time around, it doesn't update those textboxes that it's supposed to. However, when I put a breakpoint in and debug through it, the debugger shows it putting in the correct values into the textboxes. It's just as soon as the method is done, it puts them back to blank, or whatever they were before

I wish to extract numerical data from a text file and plot the data on a graph using the Zengraph classes. Each record has five variables.
I attempted to use the split function but failed to successfully get past one record.
1) How does one create an array or arrays using a text file containing many records, each with five distinct variables?
2) Is it better to create a number of single-dimension arrays or create one multi-dimensional array?
3) Is it easier to somehow convert a text file to an Excel file, with each variable in its own cell and each record on one row?

I have created a program and would now like to stop users from entering incorrect values/Text inside specific textboxes. For example i would only like text to be entered when a customer name is to be inputted and if a numerical key is pressed a message box will appear saying "sorry letters only" or something in that line.
