Display Current Time In Further Detail Than Seconds?
May 26, 2009
I tried Console.WriteLine(Cstr(DateTime.Now)) and it shows the time down to the seconds, ie, "5/26/2009 5:17:02 PM" But, is there an option to show the current time more detailed than seconds, ie, "5/26/2009 5:17:02.xxx PM"
Dim purchasedate, purchasetime As String purchasedate = Date.Today 'Stores current time in the variable purchasetime purchasetime = System.DateTime.Now.ToString("HH:mm:ss")
[code]....
I am trying to add 60 seconds to the current time (purchase time) but would my method of System.DateTime.Now.ToString("HH:mm:ss") + 60 add 60 seconds to the current time ?
I have a windows form where I want the time to constantly be updated. Right now it will take the current time from when the program was started.
For example, if I started the program at 4:30:29 PM that is what it will show the whole time the program runs.I need it to constantly be updated as the seconds tick by. So, If I started the program at 4:30:29 PM and ran it for exactly 5 minutes, the time displayed then should be 4:35:29 PM.The data being taken in and saved needs a time associated with it and the end user also need to know the current time as the program is ran in full-screen. Im trying to make a custom splash screen , but i cant seem to get it to work. Im trying to display a welcome screen for 3 seconds then close and display form1 (main form).Heres my current code.
If a have a lable called: lblWarning. I'd like to display it (Visible = True) when the detail band does not have any records. The label is in the group footer.
I use a simple master-detail form using Visual basic 2005 express edition and ms sql server 2005 express edition, as well.
The master table is dept (deptno int, dname nvarchar(50)) .
The deail table is emp (empno int, deptno int, ename nvarchar(50)).
The primary key for the dept table is deptno and for the emp table is empno.
There is also a foreign key (deptno on emp table).
I created a new project, connected to a db (called test.mdf) and created a data source consisting the two of the above reffered tables.
I dragged and dropped these tables on the form and i noticed the following:
1)When the form opens... the system queries the database and displays the data on each block on the form.
2)I insert and/or update a record on the master table (dept) and everything goes well...
3)I try to insert and/or update a record on the detail table (emp) and nothing is changed on the detail table - without any error.
4)When i try to insert and/or update a record on the detail table (emp) which violates the primary key constraint or foreign key the system complaints...(as expected).
I have made several posts on here lately regarding master/detail or parent/child data setups but no one has been able to help. It seems like a subject people don't like to tackle BUT I really need help.
I'm having a real hard with the DataView.RowFilter functionality and it is driving me insane.
For the most part, I have the basic master/detail functionality working. When you select a record in the first grid, it shows the correct data in the second grid. When you enter a record in the first grid, you can enter related data in the second grid. I accomplish this by using a dataview and row filter bound to the 2nd grid. When you change the record in the first grid, the rowfilter for the 2nd grid is restated and reapplied.
The problem arises when I overwrite the primary field value in the first grid and the detail records become orphaned. You would think all I have to do is change the ID in the 2nd grid to match the new ID in the 1st grid but this is where I am having problems. I wrote a loop to change the ID of each record currently loaded in the 2nd grid to match the newly changed ID in the first grid. The code is here:
Code: Dim I As Integer
For I = AuthorizationGroupsDGV.Rows.Count - 2 To 0 Step -1 AuthorizationGroupsDGV.Rows(I).Cells(0).Value = StrEmployeeID Next
I have used this code before and it works great. It has to step backwards through the grid because when the ID's are changed, they no longer match the RowFilter criteria and they disappear from the grid. They still exist in the dataset. The problem is, while the code "works" the intended effect does not. Some of the records completely disappear from the dataset and do not reload when I restate the row filter against the new ID number.
I was wondering if it's possible to add seconds to a clock in vb.net. I mean lt's say I have a label and I assign it to DateTime.Now(), how would I show/display the time with the seconds "ticking"?
1st label is "Clock" this pulls the time from the users current time zone/local time
2nd label is "UTCClock" Which would be UTC time
Now I have this for the first label: clock.Text = Format(TimeOfDay, "hh:mm:ss tt")
Which would give the users current time zone/local time. As for the UTC.. how would I add in for the UTC time from where the user is located at? I did some searches.. but couldnt find what I was looking for.. IM pretty sure its not as easy as getting the users current time zone/local time.. So im assuming that Theres a "bit more" code into getting UTC time..
I have a label that is supposed to display a word for 5 seconds and then move down the list in a text file and display the next word.I'm oddly able to make it work in random mode, but not going down the list in order.. random would be ok if used words didn't come up again.
Code: Dim DurHold As String = My.Computer.FileSystem.ReadAllText(Application.StartupPath & "FlashWords.txt") Dim DurDelimiters() As String = {vbNewLine} Dim DurTextLines() As String = DurHold.Split(DurDelimiters, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries)
There are a lot of master/detail databinding examples with detail form on the same window than the master, I can't find any example where detail is in a new window.
I'm writing a report scheduler that is somewhat of a clone to the backupexec scheduler and the layout can be seen in post #10 here: [URL]..It works great and saves/edits/deletes records just fine, but now i need to compare those records one at a time in a windows service that i'm writing in order to trigger automated report creation and emailing - i already have the report and i already have the code for the emailing, i'm just looking for the most efficient way to loop through the table (that i've pulled in to a dataset) and compare its records with the current date and time - if true, the event fires.
[Code]...
1stSun, 2ndSun etc are bit fields, time is a datetime, and the remainder are varchar. My service checks the database every thirty seconds. The english version of what i'm trying to do is "Connect to the database, grab the entire table (it will always only have 5-6 entries max, so i felt 30 second sweeps was okay), and If today is the 1st Sunday of the month, and it is currently 11:00:00 a.m. (could be any day or time, this is just an example) - loop through the dataset to identify if any records match the time field or greater - if they do, fire the report
I have a masked textbox (dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss) and a textbox (hh:mm:ss). I want to calculate the difference of them both and put the result in an other masked textbox (dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss).e.g.13/11/1979 10:00:00 - 15:00:00 = 12/11/1979 19:00:00..I already tried Date.FromOADate(CDbl(dec_time) , where dec_time stands for the difference between first and second part of the equation.
When I double click on a row on a datagrid, a form will appear like the above screenshot.
When I double click on the row which consist of Brian/Kendall, a form will appear and should show Brian in the First Name text box and Kendall should appear in the Last Name textbox.
I want to display an imagejust for 2 second when i click the btn i want to show image then after 2 second automaticly image most be hide ! can i do this whithout timer?
Basically, my app has the main form and a windows form "splash". Let me explain, this "Splash" is a WINDOWS FORM, not a splash form; its just named splash because I want to use it for that reason. In my project settings, my main form is my startup, and the splash form is my splash. This splash form has been coded on a timer for 10 seconds, but when I set the splash form as the splash setting, the form shows up for 1 second and goes to the main form. What I need is to edit the splash setting time from 1 second to x# seconds (preferebly 10)
I am trying to make a simple program to convert time given in seconds to hh:mm:ss format. But for some particular input values it produces incorrect time format. This is what I have tried :
Public Class Form1 Dim Hours, Minutes, Seconds As Integer Private Sub btnReset_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnReset.Click[code]....
Works When the Input Value is 30:
Does not Work When the Input Value is 31:
What have I done wrong ? How can I fix this problem ?
I have a form with the DateTimePicker control on it. When I select a date it gives a value like "date time" (Eg.: 5/12/2010 12:20:35 PM). But here the time returned is current time. What I need is for the date chosen from the picker automatically set the time to 00:00:00 instead of the time when the date was picked.

Searching about kernel32.dll and battery functions in it, I came across some interesting Public BatteryLifeTime As System.UInt32 The full declaration is: Private Declare Auto Function GetSystemPowerStatus Lib "kernel32.dll" ( _ ByRef lpSystemPowerStatus As SYSTEM_POWER_STATUS) _ As Integer Private Structure SYSTEM_POWER_STATUS Public BatteryLifeTime As System.UInt32 What I don't understand is, what measurement do the "BatteryLifeTime As System.UInt32" is in? I mean, is the Battery life Time in seconds or hours.. Or something else, so how can I convert it to something I can use..
I am writing a program and have run into an issue. The program requires a conversion of time (e.g. hours, minutes, seconds) to a hexadecimal value of no more than 4 bytes (e.g. FFFF). I have no idea how this is done. Can anyone point me to a tutorial or give a quick explanation. Sample code would be great as well.
I have written onw windows service..in that i have logic that is some part of code need to execute on certain time.. my service is running in every one min..

But iam facing prob that it is considering seconds while running so can not compare above time..
I am trying to make a program in visual basic 2010 where the user enters hours minutes and seconds into text boxes and then the program will count down from that until its equal to 0 when a msgbox appears and says its finished. I was converting hour entered, minutes entered, and seconds entered all into seconds and then having a timer subtract 1 from that until its equal to 0. But the problem I'm having is that I want to display the hours, minutes and seconds left in a label to the user in a format of: "hours: 0 minutes: 23 seconds :42" but how to display it in this format.
