But it's giving me an error "Expression expected" on the three Const lines right at the & character.
When it is run, screesavers and screenoff is prevented somehow.. I have narrowed it down to this code.

The above code is what makes it possible for my application to active two forms when only one is activated.. But it is somehow this code that prevents my screensavers and power settings from working.. Do you have any idea how to change the code so it doesnt prevent my screensavers and power settings?
I am writing an application that puts a computer in hibernation mode (Application.SetSuspendState). I have noticed that there exists a specific option that needs to be enabled for the machine to hibernate correctly and that is found in Control Panel--> Power Options --> Hibernate Tab (if this option is not checked then the machine goes into stand by mode rather than hibernate) Is there a way to programmatically check the status of the "Enable Hibernation" check box and check/uncheck it?

There are also 3 Combo Boxes:

When I un check the Enable Application Framework Check Box all items under it are grayed out. However, if I have changed one of the Comb Boxes my selection is also grayed out...My question is, have I lost the use of those function: Specifically I am mos interested in starting my application from a Sub Main and closing the application when all forms close.My underlying question is . . . are the greyed out selections still valid?

View 1 RepliesI am sure the screensaver wasn't meant to be used in this manner, but I have created an interactive screensaver for the company I work for which acts as a checkout station for calibrated measurement equipment.Part of this process is printing out a sticker using an SII SLP Label printer which is attached to the computer with the checkout station. Printing with the printer works just fine over the network from another computer (not running the program as a screensaver), but for some reason I am getting a -16 error (I believe that is "Unknown Error") when the program as a screensaver uses the local SLP printer. The only possible reason I can think for this happening is that screensavers aren't allowed to access printers. Is there some way to give the screensaver permission to use the printer? Currently the screensaver is able to access files on the network file share (such as the equipment database) just fine. If I were to create a TCP/IP server that acts as a proxy or go-between for the printer so that all the screensaver does is connect to localhost and tells the server to print would that work?

View 4 RepliesOK, so, I made a program that locks the computer with a password, to help you protect data from other people. It's quite simple, you open the program, it shows up in full screen, "To access this computer please type in the password"....etc.
BUT, I want it to have a "Guard". To make it act like a screen saver does. That's my plan: So, you typed in the password, and close the program. And then, if you didn't move your mouse, or press a key, or you're not watching a movie, for more than 6 minutes, I want it to automatically launch the program. I am using VB.net in VS2008.I wrote a screensaver that cycles through pictures. By the way, I already tried to edit the power settings of the PC so it will never sleep/ hybernate, etc. But unfortunately, it keeps on sleeping after few hours.
Running a graphics effect in the Paint event of a Form. I am thinking of something like a screensaver effect, not necessarily full-screen either. Would a background worker be better suited to this idea or using another thread? I wouldn't want something that is very demanding on a computer processor. In fact, what I was originally thinking, is it possible to put a Windows screensaver program inside a Form?

I am developing an application for an emergency services organisation using VB 2008 that will enable users to select a map zone of a city centre and plot icons onto it, then save/export the layered map with icons as an image.My problem at the moment is that I am struggling developing the point where the user imports in the icon (for example, a flame icon where a fire started) and drags it around the map within the picture box to the required area.I want them to be able to select their desired icon from a series of commandbuttons and for the icon to 'appear' on the picturebox and be enabled to be dragged around and dropped as required. The organisation already has such a thing working in Microsoft Word (!) and that uses the ActiveDocument.Shape.LoadImage function on a pushbutton to import the icon and then it is placed on the map as required, but this is really unreliable for them.I dont even know if you can layer images onto an existin picturebox within an application in this way and then export as a flat image.

I have an application I have developed which works great on individual PC's. However I've had some interest from a few customers that asked if I have a network version for site licencing.If my app did not save any data or write any reg entries, this might have been ok. But it does to the local computer. I also built in my own copy protection and trial function that stores data in the registry on the local computer.What would I need to do to enable my application to run on a server/network share, so that the only a serial number needed is for the server?
View 3 RepliesIf you mark your application using "Make Single Instance Application" option in the application settings tab and run your application under a GUEST account or a restricted limited/standard account the application throws UnAuthorizedAccessException or CantStartSingleInstanceException.
Take the following steps to reproduce this behavior.
1) Create Windows Form application.
2) Enable the "Make Single Instance Application" in the project properties.
3) Log onto a GUEST account and open the application twice to simulate StartUpNextInstance.
We need developers to reproduce this behavior and post any valuable input if you experience these symptoms.
When posting information please include the following:
a) The operating system version + service pack.
b) The .NET framework version used.
c) Verify this symptom is present when running under GUEST account.
To workaround this issue turn off the "Make Single Instance Application" option ad create a Local named mutex in the StartUp() event.

I am working on a browser that uses the webbrowser control. I need to add certain features like ad-block to it. I noticed that these features are available as add-ons already for IE. Since webbrowser control is IE-based, I was wondering if it was possible to enable the webbrowser control to access these add-ons?
