May 30, 2011We have a VB.NET applciation that is run from a mapped network drive. This works fine on all PCs expect those with Windows 7, on those we get the following: "application generated an exception that cannot be handled" System.Security.SecurityException was unhandled If the application folder is copied locally and run from there it works fine. I assume it is related to Windows 7 netowrk security but not sure how to work around it.

May 2, 2006A VB5 program I wrote years ago stopped working and is now giving me this error:

I cannot figure out what has changed, since I run that program almost daily. It was working fine, then stopped (without any changes to the program). I suspect I may have uninstalled something it uses, but cannot figure out what.When I open the VB5 IDE, I get an error saying:

If I say no, it does not load and I cannot see the source code.If I say yes, it does load and I can see the source code but I get weird compiler errors.

Decryption Error : Padding Is Invalid And Cannot Be Removed
Apr 23, 2010I have been writing a security class in my application, I am able to encrypt the string correctly and without error. However every time when I try to decrypt this string again, i get an error with this as it returns the following Padding is invalid and cannot be removed.

I have found simular issues on web, and most of them say that the IV is not the same the encrypted version, but I can confirm that the IV is the same as they both access the exact same variable.

The business intent is that user enters the keyword 'abc' and clicks search button . We have defined different keywords in a xls which has 1600 rows and 16 columns . so when finding abc in any of the cells ,it has to return the value of a column#4 where the name is specified !

When I try to decrypt these 16 bytes I get the message "Padding is invalid and cannot be removed.". (The base stream of the CryptoStream is a MemoryStream based on just these 16 bytes).

Dropdownlist Invalid Error Edititem Template Gridview
Sep 15, 2011Error Dropdownlist has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items. Parameter name: value I have been banging my head over this error for about a week now. I have searched posted on other forums and still no solution to my issue. I have seen the FindControl being suggested but do not know how to implement this.
Basically I have 2 webmethods that reference 2 datasets which then populate my ajax cascading dropdownlist. In insertmode they work great however in editmode i get the above error.I have removed the selectedvalue and added
DataSource='<%# Bind("intRoom") which works sort of except for the fact that when you click edit it does not retain the original value of that particular record. Other things i have tried are as following:adding the items to the itemcollection of the dropdownlist turning appenddataitems to true on also tried to use the findcontrol but dont understand that punching my monitor and slamming my keyboard
Now I know i could get this to work by using a sqldatasource with some t-sql to get my dropdownlist to work however I thought by reusing my webmethods my code would be more professional. So if there is anyone out there that can help me understand why the value for my dropdownlist is not being populated or does not exist during gridview editing Also will post code if asked not sure what you would like to see rather than posting everything.

Oct 15, 2010I requested a Code Signing Certificate from my own domain Certification Authority on my Windows 2008 R2 domain controller.
When trying to publish my code to my webserver via Clickonce, it throws "an error occurred while signing: Invalid provider type specified"
In order to get the certificate I duplicated the Code Signing template on my CA, and tried both options available:
1) must use Microsoft Software Key Storage Provider
2) use any provider available locally
algorithm is RSA, key minim size 2048, Hash SHA1, alternative format unchecked
Invalid Viewstate Error When Posting Back To Same Page
May 24, 2012I'm having some issues with an Invalid Viewstate error and I can understand why it's happening but I don't know how to fix it so I'm hoping someone can help.
I have a page which is similar to this /story/?id=123 but I'm using a different page to Server.Transfer to this page.
So I've set up /info to Server.TransferRequest("/story/?id=123") and it works fine until the page does a postback to itself.
We have a login form on this page which simply reloads the page but when it does it seems to add /?id=123 onto the end of the URL so it ends up like this /info/?id=123 thus causing an Invalid Viewstate error.
I've already tried adding EnableViewStateMac="false" - this fixes the error but it doesn't log the user in as expected so it does not give the required result.
Is there a better way to redirect to my page other than Server.TransferRequest but still keeping the nice URL? - I don't want to response.redirect if I can avoid it.
ReadProcessMemory Keeps Returning 0 - Error: INVALID WINDOW HANDLE
Dec 6, 2008I'm currently developing a little hobby project to display health information in a game on my G15 keyboard through VB.NET. When I use ReadProcessMemory via an API call, it keeps returning zero. The MSDN documentation referred me to use the Marshal.GetLastWin32Error() call to find out what is wrong and it returns 1400: INVALID WINDOW HANDLE.
I am now confused about whether the first argument of the function wants a window handle or a process id. Regardless, I have tried both with FindWindow and hardcoding the process id while the application is running (getting it from task manager). I have tried three different games, Urban Terror, Grand Theft Auto: SA and 3D pinball for windows, getting the memory addresses from an application called Cheat Engine; they all seem to fail. [Code]
