Error BC30464: Namespace Or Type'Compatibility' In The Project-level Imports 'Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility' Cannot Be Found

I've started to use a Vista machine for development. In case it is significant: I'm using MSBee so that I can code in the Visual Studio 2005 IDE while still building against the 1.1 framework.On the Vista machine, when I tried to build a particular vb project, I got this error:
error BC30464: Namespace or type'Compatibility' in the project-level Imports 'Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility' cannot be found.
The same project built fine on my old XP machine. I checked in this folder on my Vista machine:
C:windowsmicrosoft.netFrameworkv1.1.4322
...and sure enough, "Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility.dll" was missing. So was "Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility.Data.dll". Copying them from my XP machine to my Vista machine allowed me to build the project successfully.I'm just a bit puzzled as to why this happened. Why was "Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility.dll" missing? I'm also not very comfortable with my chosen solution - copying the DLL manually. It works, but surely there must be a better way.

I'm setting up a simple XML read-write demo (VB Winforms) in Visual Studio 2010 Premium (tried in both the RC and RTM) and added:
Imports System.Xml
Result: Error Namespace or type doesn't contain any public members or cannot be found...
VS 2008 equivalent example recognizes the Imports statement fine.I know this has to be me, but I'm stumped.
Note: I tried this with the app targeting both .Net 3.5 and 4.0. Same result.

Error msg - Namespace or type 'Data' for the Imports 'Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data' can't be found. How do I fix this error. I tried adding a reference but it is not listed in the references.

I have a WPF VB.NET project in Visual Studio 2008. For some reason, Visual Studio thinks that it needs to add anImports MS.Internal.Xaml.Builtinsto every auto-generated XAML partial class (= the nameOfXamlFile.g.vb files), resulting in the following warning:warning BC40056: Namespace or type specified in the Imports 'MS.Internal.Xaml.Builtins' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found. When trying to compile my newly created ClassLibrary class 'Validator' that validates entries made into TextBoxs or MaskedTextBoxs, I get the following error:

When I start my application I get the following error:
method not found microsoft.visualbasic.msgboxresult
I have tried repairing my .NET installation.
Note: This error only occurs on one machine. On every other machine it works fine which makes me think something with the .NET assemblies was corrupted. It was working fine on the broken machine a few days ago.

I have 2 projects, one built in VB.NET and another in C#.NET. I want to use certain functionality of VB.NET into C#.NET and hence I have added the dll file of VB.NET solution into C#.NET as a reference by browsing the dll from my system. Say dll name for VB.NET is myData.dll. In my C#.NET project I am trying to declare it as a namespace i.e. "using myData;" and its giving me an error of "Type or namespace name could not be found"

I now have SQL Parameters set up and I'm using them to save/delete/add my data. This all works well, except when it's trying to save a combobox to the datatable it appears with the error above.Majority of my comboboxes have datasources, and the valuemembers of these are the actual list items, not the ID's of the list items.I'm not sure why this error could be happening, I'm fairly sure I've connected everything to the binding source correctly; I've checked it a few times.Does anybody know what the cause of this could be? I have a large project where we have 2-3 dll projects that are converted from VB6 to VB.NET. We have fixed all the issues that caused compilation errors, and most of obvious issues in running, so now we have basically a program up and running. The exe is created from scratch in VB.NET, using a lot of functionality from the converted dll's (including GUI forms). What I wonder is when I run the program in debug mode, I get a bunch of warnings in the "Immediate Window" saying:

...and some of other type (but most of them in Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll).I was wondering if this is common in projects converted from VB6, or if it is caused by bad design in our code...

I know you can alias an Imports statement in
Imports xyz = ProjectABC.ClassABC
But if I want to use the Project Properties, Reference tab to select a namespace to allow a project-wide setting, is it possible to alias that namespace?

I have a Web Service Application Project in Visual Studio 2008. This is supposed to be an ASP.Net 2.0 project and at some point this has been rebuilt using 3.5.VS has kindly added in project level imports to System.Linq and System.Xml.Linq, but when I have re-targeted the project at 2.0 these project level imports have remained.Because the Web Service Application Project does not have the detailed window for editing project references I cannot find how to remove these project level imports.There is no .proj file which is where I would assume these were included.I cannot now build the project as it fails, even though I only get warnings (no errors reported) such as this:Namespace or type specified in the project-level Imports 'System.Linq' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found. When ever I start a blank WPF project in Visual Basic 2010 (SP1) I get the following error:
Type 'Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.DesignerGenerated' is not defined.
The error comes from the auto-generated code in MainWindow.g.i.vb - when I try to add a reference to Microsoft.VisualBasic, it says I can't because it will be added at runtime.

I have installed the SDK 5.1 (using the default install path). My issue is that I'm still not able to use Speech with in my programs. I have Imports SpeechLib. i have 2 windows machines with VB 2008 installed on both. I created a windows app on 1 machine and put the powerpacks dll file with the app folder anyway. For some reason, when i load the project up on my other machine, i just get a never ending list of errors related to PowerPacks. Why? I have exactly the same version installed and tried download the PowerPacks on Windows website. I just get over 102 errors saying Type 'Microsoft.VisualBasic.PowerPacks.LineShape' is not defined. Anyone care to enlighten me?

I havnt found any info on this, probably because I expect there is no real way to do it... but does anyone know if there is a way to run an ActiveX control in 'copatibility mode' or some sort ov virtualization WITHIN a .net app?
We have a legacy control that does not work in Vista (and up) If we set the whole app to WinXP SP2 compatibility mode, the control seems to work well enough.
I would like to be able to rig it so we don't need to manually set that on every system.
My next step is to start looking if we can just set the compatibility through install, or the app itself.

I have a small application I wrote in VB with visual studio express. This app uses a timer tick to wait for a certin time, the opens several comm ports, reads data, creates an output string, an sends the string via email. I tested this app for several days
on a windows 7 32 bit machine, with no problems. I compiled (published) the program, and am attempting to run it on a windows 7 64 bit machine. However, on the 64 bit machine, it freezes up and can only be stopped with Task Manager.
at the time the app hangs the only things going on are 1. a timer checking to see if it's time to read the comm ports. and 2. a background thread checkig to see if the internet is available to email the string.
I tried ;loading visual studio on the 64 bit machine, and compiling the app there, with the same result. However it seems to run (tested for 1 hour) in debug on the 64 bit machine.
Has anyone noticed anything like this? any ideas?

I seemed to have have ruined my settings on VS 2010... I can't get the Shapes to work just after I had fixed the problem with the PowerPacks, and then it deleted all of my shapes I had on my form after I was tweaking the code and added another shape. And ever since, the shapes make errors and I can't change there colors. I've tried reinstalling VS 2010, and changing refferences doesn't work anymore. The title is the problem I have with trying to add a shape through the code in my project, here is the code for that:
