Even Handler For A Process_Exited Event - Process Must Exit Before Requested Information Can Be Determined
Sep 24, 2010
I wrote the following lines of code within the even handler for a Process_Exited event. The really weird thing is that on the fifth line I get the error "Process must exit before requested informaiton can be determined. (When trying to access the Exit Time & Exit Code)
Private Sub AssociatedProcess_Exited(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles
AssociatedProcess.Exited
Do Until AssociatedProcess.HasExited = True
I am making a function of an application that when a function is called the application will close all processes that are owned by the user and were started after a specific point. My thoughts on this would be to trigger an event in my application every time a process is started and ended, and only if the processes is owned by the user, the event should get information (e.g. the process ID, name, etc) about that process and add or remove that information to/from an array depending on if the process starts or ends. Then when a function is called end all the processes in that array.
The event handlers in my parent class are never called though the events are raised in the child class.
The Code:
Public Class childForm Public Event checkboxchangedEvent(ByVal checkbox1 As Boolean, ByVal checkbox2 As Boolean) Private Sub checkboxchanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles CheckBox1.CheckedChanged, CheckBox2.CheckedChanged
Does anyone know what the problem is with this error message? One or more errors encountered while loading the designer. The errors are listed below. Some errors can be fixed by rebuilding your project, while others may require code changes. Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information.
I don't see why this doesn't work. I have gone into the registry and removed the registry key below and still no joy. The error arises at the For Each Loop.
remove an event handler from within the event handler?
I have a class that gets data from a hand scanner. When the scan is complete and the data is validated, the class fires a custom "ScanComplete" event and returns the data in a custom EventArgs.
In the calling program, I'm creating an instance of the scanning class and adding a handler for the "ScanComplete" event. In the event handler I get the data that was scanned and then remove the handler.
It seems to be working but it feels wrong to remove the handler while I'm running inside the handler. Will this cause a problem?
I'm trying to complete this airline reservation application, but having a problem in this part of the question:Creat an event handler for the FlightBindingSource's PositionChanged event: select FlightBindingSource in the class Name combobox then select position changed in method name combobox to creat the FlightBindingSource's PositionChanged event handler. Write a code to access the currently displayed flight object and pass its flightNumber to method DisplayPassengers as a decimal. This Is my code so far:
HTML
Public Class AirlineReservationForm Private database As New ReservationsDataClassesDataContext() Private Sub FillAll()[code].....
I'm having a problem with using the system.diagnostic.process. Basically, I can't get the myProcess.WaitForExit to work. I keep getting an error saying that "No process is associated with this object.". I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
The following code opens a Word doc and fills the data as designed. When I exit from it, the WINWORD.EXE process keeps active. If I execute the code a second time and exit from it again, a second process of WINWORD.EXE gets added and stays active. The example shown at url... doesn't produce the same problem. Obviously I'm not exiting the code as I should but I fail to see where.[code]
When I utilize AddHandler in VB to add my own method to the Click event :
AddHandler Button.Click, AddressOf myButton_Click
I see that my code executes last - after other event handlers for the Button_Click event. Is there a way to insert my event handler in front of other events so that it executes first?
Basically, I am just trying to close the thread/process after it's done.
Private psi As ProcessStartInfo Private cmd As Process Public Delegate Sub InvokeWithString(ByVal text As String) Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim psi As New ProcessStartInfo("m7.bat") [Code] .....
I am trying to close the thread so once it's done, it closed for good and my form is closed as well. I tried Me.Close() which results in: "Cross-thread operation not valid: Control 'Form1' accessed from a thread other than the thread it was created on." Error.
Me.Invoke(New InvokeWithString(AddressOf CloseME), e) - Results in parameter mismatch error. However, things like Msgbox("Done") works perfectly.
This kicks off the process and my code continues to run, but I need a way of monitoring that process and not doing anything else until it finishes. Is there a simple solution? I'm hoping there's something similar to Process.WaitForExit like there is when creating a local process.
We have an application that allows custom UI and interaction via SDK. A DLL is developed for this purpose using VB.Net and the SDK. An object variable refers to the application and there are some other object variables for components within the application.
I'm not asking how to exit the program( dispose() ) instead I have a program that checks if a certain process is running and if so it displays a message box, stops the process and (Should) exit the program. If the process is not detected then the program loads normally and opens an external program. My problem is that it stops the process and still runs the program. How can I fully stop the code and exit my program?
1: Attached threads Rather then list all attached threads in a list view. I wanted total count. This is my own little work around.
Dim oThreads As ProcessThreadCollection = ProcessID.Threads Dim arryThreads As New List(Of Integer) For x As Integer = 0 To oThreads.Count - 1
[code]....
This there a direct call to get the total number? Adding to an array seems a tad silly.
2: Individual CPU Can't find it on MSDN. Any links that will go into detail on Application CPU and maybe even more detail on features on what i could add.
I have a context.Request.QueryString item that is returning the wrong value in the ProcessRequest method of a .ashx handler.
The code is like so:
Public Sub ProcessRequest(ByVal context As HttpContext) Implements IHttpHandler.ProcessRequest Dim strOrderItems As String = Convert.ToString(context.Request.QueryString("OrderItems")) End Sub
One of the values returned by "OrderItems" is wrong. How can I find out what process has called this method to fix the incorrect data?
I have a single windows form application that is running in system tray icon.If the user press X button of the windows form a messagebox is displayed with Yes and No ( Yes ->close the form---No->keep the form running in system tray icon).I was thinking to prevent the scenario when the user open another instance of the application when there is already an instance running so i have used this code :
If Process.GetProcessesByName(Process.GetCurrentProcess.ProcessName).Length> 1 Then MessageBox.Show("Another instance is running", "Error Window", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Exclamation) Application.Exit() End If
The problem is that when i want to test this the message is displayed but after i press ok, a new messagebox appears (that one from Private Sub Form_FormClosing ).If i choose NO i will have to instance running!I have read that Application.Exit fires the Form_FormClosing event. Is there any possibility to cancel the triggering of the Form_FormClosing event?'this is the formclosing procedure
Private Sub Form_FormClosing(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.FormClosingEventArgs) Handles Me.FormClosing Try Dim response As MsgBoxResult response = MsgBox("Are you sure you want to exit", CType(MsgBoxStyle.Question + MsgBoxStyle.YesNo, MsgBoxStyle), "Confirm")
I have a MDIcontainer form witch handles MDIchildren. The problem I'm having is when i open a new Mdi child and close the Main form , The app is supposed to ask if i want to save the current MdiChild. Heres my code
Is it possible to determine using VB.NET whether a certain event has any handlers attached to it? I don't own the event, in this particular case I want to know which of the items in a Windows.Forms.MenuStrip have their ToolstripMenuItem.Click event handled.
I have a validating event for a txtbox called txtname. If the user tries to leave txtname for another txt box without entering their name a messagebox comes up giving an error. I have an exit button which will when clicked ask you if you really want to leave then you can choose yes or no. I can't seem to figure out how to allow the user to click the exit button while leaving the txtname blank so it would bypass the error message and only bring up the exit prompt. Here's what I have coded for the validating event and the exit event.
Private Sub txtName_Validating(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.CancelEventArgs) Handles txtName.Validating If IsNumeric(txtName.Text) Then
When a user clicks on the little red "x" a.k.a. the form close button on the form command bar, what even is activated besides FormClosed()
I know FormClosing() is called, but I cannot really stop the form from closing after my code is run. I want to be able to show a messagebox that asks if the user wants to exit the form or not. Obviously if they click no, I want the form to stay open, how would I do this?
I have an application that the main screen currently has all exit functionality removed by use of a class. I want a certain key combination to exit the program, but cannot figure out how to do this. I.E. Ctrl + X.
I've been looking for a solution to this for several hours now and cannot find a solution.
The Scenario:I have a masterpage baseclass (called basemaster)All of my master pages inherit from basemaster basemaster defines an event 'Public Event HandleClickEvent As EventHandler'I have a masterpage named master1 master1 defines an event handler 'Public Shadows Event HandleClickEvent As EventHandler'master1 has a user control named usr1 usr1 has a button that raises event ButtonClicked when clicked I have a page (thePage) that uses master1 thePage has a button click event handler that it registers like so: 'AddHandler Master.HandleClickEvent, AddressOf HandleTheClick' master1 has code something like:
Protected Sub Usr1_ButtonClicked(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Usr1.ButtonClicked RaiseEvent HandleClickEvent(sender, e) End Sub when thePage loads I see it register the handler on master1 when the button is clicked, Usr1_ButtonClicked is fired and I step through the RaiseEvent but HandleClickEvent on thePage is never reached.
how to add one event handler name clearallboxes that handles the TextChanged event for both examples(Customer text box and Total text box ) This event handler should clear the values in the text boxes that display the results.
i have a page which dynanically create a link when it load, after i click on the link it should loop in the database fetch all the record and display another set of link , then when i click on these link it should give me all information about this particular record it like this one
Q: when the page loads, it creates the first link which is associated with an event handler, it fire the first event handler (Getname) but it not firing the second event handler (GetnameDetails)
Protected Sub Page_Init(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Init If ViewState.Item("nameload") IsNot Nothing Then If ViewState.Item("nameload").ToString = "True" Then
I have a form that is derived from a base class. When the form is created a behavior class is also generated that handles event management, bindings, etc...I create a form instance(FormFoo). When the associated behavior class is created it has a method in it with a signature of: grid_EventA(....) Handles grid.eventA
I want to handle EventA in FormFoo instead of the behavior class so I remove the handler that was generated in the behavior class and add a handler that points to a method in FormFoo. This all works just peachy. The event is properly handled in FormFoo only.
Next I instantiate a modal form(FormBar) via a button click in FormFoo. I then close FormBar. Now we have a problem. When eventA fires it is now handled from the Event handler in FormFoo AND in the behavior class associated with form foo(bad). Is the event handler in the behavior class(grid_EventA(....) Handles grid.eventA) getting resubscribed when the form gets focus again? I don't understand how that event is getting resubscribed.
I figured it out I removed the Handles grid.EventA from the method signature:
grid_EventA(....) Handles grid.eventA
Then I added the handler during initialization of the BehaviorClass using:
AddHandler grid.EventA, AddressOf grid_EventA
Once I did that the problem went away. It appears that when you use MethodName(..) Handles that the event bindings get reset when the control comes back into focus.
