View 17 RepliesSite is located at [URL] and the section in question is the "configurator" button on my top row navigation. Everything is written in the latest flavor of VB.NET and ASP 3.5, and I have a SQL2005 server available with my host. Here is the down 'n dirty of my dilemma:
During pageload, I get a list of all the parts in my parts table. Then I create an image object and 2 label objects per entry and place them in my fancy accordion pane control. Works great so far, I can get a giant list of pictures and text that's aligned how I like it (for now). Now - I really need a way to be able to have a visitor drag an image/label/label combo from the accordion over to a panel (or anything really) on the right side that is currently invisible. Once the dragged thing is dropped into the drop target, I would like it to fire a function or sub that I write in VB.
From what I've seen about jquery, apparently there is a way to make an element on my webpage draggable, droppable, or what have you. The example code for it - I'm not entirely understanding so a quickie sample would be great. I'm a fast learner and can apply it from there to my project. More importantly, how do I get objects that are created during runtime to be draggable, and fire my event that I wrote in the only language that I know?

I have a nested content page within a master page, upon load the the page retrieves from a SQL a list of controls to create (Field Type, FieldName) i.e. String, Username.The function loops around the list creating the controls on the webform in a Placeholder, this part works perfectly. The problem that I am experiencing is the request to obtain the value entered by the user in the dynamically created control, I need to perform this call following postback/callback.
If I take the Content page and make it a standard aspx page with no master page the application works fine. Unfortunatley taking the page out of the master page is not an option (unfortunatley a restriction by my client)

View 3 RepliesI am trying to figure out out ttrigger a click event from a Picturebox object that is created during runtime? application that I am developing using Visual Studio 2008 during runtime a user selects a shape from a Panel3 on the right side of the form and then clicks on a location inside Panel1 where that shape is copied over. Almost like a Visio application but without the drag and drop.The name of my new shape via a is call "C_Object" I would like the user to be able to select this new shape and a click event to be raised but because this PictureBox object was created during runtime I am not seeing the event.

1. i added a datagrid at runtime on a form. i want to bind a datasource to the datagrid in a button's click event handler, but the datagrid doesn't seem to be visible anywhere else outside the form load event where it is declared. how can i find the datagrid control?
2. and another beginner question.. how to i declare a string that spans multipe lines? i tried with the + operator like in c#, but it doesn't work.
I'm writting a program that will output the column headings of the database onto a form in a label along with a text box for the user to input their own information and a button to add a new record in the database. I have to create controls for inputting info to create people objects in the program, because I don't know how many people they are going to input, I have a button that they can press to add more fields.
I need to add a doubleclick event for these dynamic controls (text boxes), how can I create an event for them if they haven't been created yet. Also, as far as I know you cant make a variable part of an object name while declaring it. I need to do something like

I create a rich textbox control at runtime. However, I have an RowEnter event procedure for a DataGridView control that needs to reference this richtextbox. I get the obvious error in the DV event prodedure saying that the richtextbox has not been declared. What do I have to do to allow this event to recognize this control even though it does not yet exist at design time? I realize the easy way around this is to hide the control on the form until runtime.

I'm trying to capture the event for when the F1 key is pressed, not just when the form is active, but anytime the program is running. The code below expressing the handling is automatically generated for me in VB Express... But I'd like to change the situation to encompass anytime the program is open. I am trying to create a ContextMenuStrip where I add a certain amount of ToolStripMenuItems based on how many columns are in a DataGridView via code. I am wondering, since I am creating all these ToolStripMenuItems in code, how would I handle the "CheckStateChanged" event on all of them separately? Or how can I figure out which one of those ToolStripMenuItems was clicked?

View 3 RepliesI have a custom control I'm creating. When I click on it, it draws a dotted border and puts some nubs on it for resizing. This all works perfectly. Now I want it so when I click off of it, it deselects. I already have a variable to set up if it's selected or not and subs to draw/clear it. I just have to be able to detect when something else is selected or it gets clicked off of.
What I've Tried
My first and best solution to this was to use the LostFocus event, but, by custom control apparently won't let it fire. After some research, as far as I know, custom controls don't have Focus events because they are custom and could be changed (basically, you have to implement the focus events yourself).
My Question
Does anybody have a solution to either implement the focus events or a way to handle off clicking for custom controls?

I am developing a COM dll library, and I have a little vb.net (vs 2005) application just to test it.I had my object declared in the application as

The first time I create the object, nothing bad happens, but if I reinstantiate it

When I use an online converter (Telerik), the middle line converts like this: Me.timer.Elapsed += New System.Timers.ElapsedEventHandler(ManageThreads) with 2 errors:
1- "Public eventElapsed is an event and cannot be called directly. Use raiseEvent
2- Delegate requires an Adess Of expression. Do I simply add "Address Of" ?

I've been trying to figure out how to get this control to work for over a week. It can be found here: A Professional Calendar/Agenda View That You Will Use - CodeProject. It's a calendar/scheduler control that was designed using c# and I'm trying to use it in my vb.net app. I've sucessfully created a dll and have referenced that dll in my project and am able to see the controls in the toolbox as well as put them on my form. My problem is that I can't get ANY of the code that I wrote in the form to fire. No event handlers will work, not even the form_load which handles the mybase.load event. Nada. f a reason that this might be? How do I sucessfully add a handler to the events? I've used <code> addhandler monthView1.SelectionChanged, addressof (and nothing I put here ever works) </code>
