Does anyone knows how to export/extract/copy (or whatever is the right word) a file wich is added to the soulution, on the startup of a program, like somekind of installation?
View 5 RepliesI'm using VB2008 and I have a CmdButton and a Listbox. When the CmdButton is clicked, it will look for all the files contained on a fixed directory and the names of the files will be enumerated to the listbox. I have that piece working perfectly.
The question is -- after the listbox is populated with the filenames, can I select one or multiple items from the listbox and copy the actual files from the original directory to a directory that the user will specify via browse folder dialog? Maybe right click on the selected item(s) then export? Just a thought..
i am working on an application that would copy files from one location to another that is thru network, i already tried using File.IO and Webservice but still copying huge/large amount of files is veryslow. also, my boss asked me to save base64 strings to database and connect to the database and regenerate the file, but when i tried saving a total of 100Mb Files, when im querying it in the database it still takes atleast 10-15min just to query it..

View 5 RepliesI'm developing an application which relies on several files to be copied over to a specific location on the users hard drive ("C: est") when they run the program for the first time, and am having a hard time wrapping my head around how to account for the fact that the original location may be in a different location for each user.
Any ideas for either getting the path where the files would be and then copying them to the desired destination?

The Select statement should work fine but the path to the file i want to open doesnt. Id love a way to reference the Pnt_GuideLat Cerv directory based on where my program gets installed on the Hard drive.
I am trying to copy a directory with sub directories and files to another location on my computer. Whenever I try, I get the following error, through my "console":

I have a program that copies files listed in an excel file and adds two columns together to rename the file when it is copied. This all works perfect. What I am having difficulty with is when the files are copied and renamed - I can't get it to find files in subfolders and copy them also. I have a text file that is created letting me know what files were not copied and the subfolder files are always on there?

I have tried all variations to this without any luck.
I'm trying to copy a picture from one location and paste it into another location however VB throws out the following error
Exception from HRESULT: 0x800A0046 (CTL_E_PERMISSIONDENIED)
both locations are on my local computer. So not sure what is causing the problem.

i am trying to copy a dll from one location to another. i have a combobox from which i select a option then i want the program to copy my dll to another location acoording to the option i have selected. But Vb doesn't seem to copy it.it stays the same. for experiment i tried to copy a image. it worked perfectly.

I need to extract specific data from a database. With starting point in this data, I will collect information on the internet. After the information is collected I need to check if this information is already stored in the database, and if not, then add it. This action is being repeated about 500-50000 times each time the procedure is being executed. (not often)
The approach I'm taking seemes sleazy and ineffecient and I was hoping you could point out some places where I might be able to optimize it. I've two open connections at the same time. The first I use to extract data, and it stays open throughout the whole session. The second connection is being used first to check if an entry already exist and if not, to add the data.
The reason I am using two connections is due to the fact that I got a reader bound to the first one, so it is rendered unavailable.
I was thinking that maybe checking if the data existed, and adding it if not, maybe could be contracted into one command execution instead of two. I don't know if it would be possible to do this with one connection only as well, as it seemes more proper.
My problem is to extract some specific string from the web script by RegExp, e.g:

- I want to extract "Home Furniture" from here.

How can I write a RegExp to match them?

I have found the above code from the net and it works fine as I would expect. I know this because I have added a put the String StoreFile into a text box and it worked. From what I understand about the code above is that we are reading the file test.txt until we reach the end of the file and we are storing it into a string.
What I would like to do is either:
1. Search the String StoreFile until I find the text of my choice, and then extract the characters around it. See attached txt file.
For example, if I wanted to search for MNAUSD in the attached txt file, I want to grab the values on the line (highlighted in blue) and make them available to my program and ignore everything else.
"MNAUSD",UNITED STATES,US $,M,1.558850,1,1.369850,1.113500,L
I know these files are comma delimited, but I would rather use a regular expressions if possible as I have other files that are not comma delimited, so it would be ideal if I have a regular expressions to handle the search and extract

2. Search the File test.txt LINE BY LINE, until I reach my search text MNAUSD and then extract the same values as above.
My text file look like this[code]...
I want to extract those lines according to value in ( ).
There have probablly be thousands of threads just like mine[code]...
