At my old job we used batchscripts to start macro's in another application. These batch scripts would also write data about the status of the macro as loglines to a log file using VB.
I have saved the batchscripts when I moved to another job because I always thought they might come in handy. However I forgot to save the visual basic script needed to create and fill the logfile.
The batchscript would look like this:
SET SP=C: est
SET LOGFILE=C: est est.log
cscript //nologo %SP%logging.vbs "Script executed by admin" >%LOGFILE%
cscript //nologo %SP%logging.vbs "Starting Loading Data" >>%LOGFILE%

I am working on a function that returns an array of variable-length strings that have a certain starting and ending delimiter. The input to the function is a string. I am able to do this by using if-then statements with InStr(). I was wondering someone knew of a more elegant way. I tried using the split command but I am splitting on one delimiter so I don't really get the result. I could then parse from the results but I am back to the same boat with using InStr().

I have a script file which uses code similar to the C# language, using { and } braces to start and close 'blocks' of code. Note that blocks can be nested.[code]...
Is it possible to use regular expressions to parse the code and return the name of each block separately? So in the above example, it should return block1, block2 and block3 but NOT "block 2 contains" or "and another" (no nested blocks).

My asp.net website logs errors when they occur, but only sometimes shows the line of code where it occurred. Is there a way to find out what line of code my error is occuring on when the line is not provided?My Global.asax logs the error with the following code:

It looks like the checkbox labeled "ckAdmin" is causing this error, but I do not know how to trace it. How should I go about tracing down this error or finding the line of the code this error occurs in?

I thought this was a useful way to back up my project via email because it's in text form. But now I can't find the same information. I've looked in the Object Browser but couldn't find it anywhere. I think I stumbled on it the first time by right clicking Go to definition, but now that doesn't take me anywhere if I click on say form1. So where will I find this mysterious page that has all the form items information in text, not graphic form? Can't find it anywhere.

I have a binding navigator in my project and it works just fine.My question is where, if at all, can I find the code that is run when the delete button on the navigator is pressed.My reason for wanting to know this is I want to be able to give the user a second chance when the delete button is pressed.I want to ask the user if they are sure that they want to delete the record by using a msgbox.If the user says yes I will delete if they say no then I do not want the record deleted.I tried putting logic in the BindingNavigator DeleteItem_Click but was not successful.
