I am trying to find out if the connection of my sockets (TCPClient) is connected or not connected. I am using the following code:
[Code]...
I Receive Many UDP Connection From None IP Valid Devices With This Code:
receivingUdpClient = New System.Net.Sockets.UdpClient(Port)
Dim byteBuffer As [Byte]() = receivingUdpClient.Receive(RemoteIpEndPoint)
Now I Want Response Data To Device After Receive Data. I use This Code
receivingUdpClient.Send(receiveBytes, 10)
But Received This Error :
"The operation is not allowed on non-connected sockets."
On my program I am trying to make a ToolStripStatusLabel's text change to "connected" if connected to a network and if not connected to a network change the text to " Not Connected" then I don't know how to display a image if connected to a network or not connected. So if the computer is connected to a network I have a image that I would like to be displayed next to the ToolStripStatusLabel. And if not connected to a network, can the program display a different image? I tried this:
My.Computer.Network.IsAvailable=True(ToolStripStatusLabel2.Text "Connected")
My.Computer.Network.IsAvailable=False(ToolStripStatusLabel2.Text "Not Connected")
I need to make sure that the connection to a POS printer is successful before writing data to the database and then printing a receipt. The POSprinter is normally of type BTP 2002NP but may differ. The common thing is that they are all connected via COM-port and NOT usb, so no drivers installed at all on the client. Can I send some kind of "ping" on a COM-port and check if a device is connected and turned on? Additional information, the application is developed in VB.net and Visual Studio 2008
View 2 RepliesI'm dabbling with writing a client/server app using sockets, for the first time. I've found some example code for a chat application which gives me some pointers, and I've got that working, but now I am trying to refactor the basic code (the example is all in embedded in forms) into classes but I'm running into difficulties. Basically I want a server application to listen for inbound messages with a general Listener object which will parse the message (which will include a reference so I can work out the address of the computer sending the message).
When a request comes in from a new computer it will create a new object containing (amongst other things) a new TCP connection back to the client for managing and returning messages.The problem is I'm getting the message "The operation is not allowed on non-connected sockets" in my refactored code.The original code (on a form with a single listbox and a background worker) looks liks this :
Imports System.Text
Imports System.Net.Sockets
Public Class Server
[code]....
I get the error on last line of code of the OnConnect procedure when my client application tries to connect. Now I know this worked fine with the original code but my new version of the code fails to set up the connection. I have removed the "background worker" stuff because as far as I can tell all it is doing is updating the display which I don't need to do.
How to find index in vb.net when connected with ms-access2007:)

View 1 RepliesI've searched the forums but never seems to find an answer for this one.. I recently connected to MySQL database server "Automatically" in Visual Studio 2010. I want to know if there's a way to determine the connection state for "Automatically created" connections in Visual Studio 2010. I know how to do it for"programmatically created" connections but just want to know how on the auto-generated ones.

View 1 RepliesUsing the code below i will get all network interfaces wich are enabled and functional on the machine.
Private netIntrfc As NetworkInterface() = NetworkInterface.GetAllNetworkInterfaces()
For i As Integer = 0 To netIntrfc.Length - 1
If netIntrfc(i).OperationalStatus = OperationalStatus.Up Then

But my problem is how to get the default one, the one(ethernet adapter) through wich user is connected to internet?I need to change some settings of default(through wich user is connected to internet) adapter. settings i change through registry so i could sample add same settings for each network interface but that could cause problems and makes no point then?
EDITED:for now i have done like code below, so if this can help someone other...
Dim u As UdpClient = New UdpClient(System.Net.Dns.GetHostName, 1)
Dim localAddr As IPAddress = CType(u.Client.LocalEndPoint, IPEndPoint).Address
Private netIntrfc As NetworkInterface() = NetworkInterface.GetAllNetworkInterfaces()

I'm trying to connect a remote mysql database. I'm doing it from a vb.net 2005 application with a connector mysql.data.dll What's happening is, suppose if I try to connect thrice it connects twice and once throwing an exception that says A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. there's nothing wrong with the code, otherwise it would never have connected

View 2 RepliesRemember MS Paint? The bucket tool? If you used it and clicked on a pixel, all pixels connected to this pixel that are the same are affected. The theory is, I suppose, to check if there is any pixel adjacent to the selected one. If such pixel is the same type as the selected one, check for more adjacent pixels in this one, and so on.
I want to implement something similar in VB.NET. Basically I have a 2D array map which represents the map. Let's assume there are only two types of tile: 0 and 1.Now, I got pretty much everything ready: I got my 2d map and I can tell which tile is clicked and tell what array indexes are the ones that represent such tile.Now for the "painting" process. Whenever I think about it, I can't figure a convenient way to execute such iteration. Can someone help me choosing a correct design/way/tip to achieve this?
I have an application in vb.net which will connect with an hardware device and test its functionality. The hardware device basically spits out data continuosly through Ethernet. That is it recieves some data via com ports and spits out the processed data via ethernet.So my application does both. Thats pretty much the entire app.My problem is i am using tcpclient sockets. Now when i connect a tcpclient to the device using
tcpclient.open(ip,port);
Immediately the device sends some data which comes and get stored in the clientsocket. Then i send a command to it ,only then i read the data from the clientsocket using
tcpclient.getstream().read()
at this time the entire data that is the one which flowed immediately when connected to the device and the one that i actually need after passing command is both acquired. This is undesirable. I need the data which i read only after sending the command. So i was wondering if there is any way to clear the tcpclient socket before we do a read. The manual doesnt show any such method.
i need to create a network map (from any pc). For now i get my own ip, the router ip, but i can't get the IP from others pc's connected to the router. Can i get the IP's only with the framework? or i need another external library? [code]

View 4 RepliesIs there any easy way to find out , which network am I connected to via programmatically. I mean we can check the Network is available through "My.Computer.Network.IsAvailable", same way can i find the name the network (Either Direct or via VPN).
I have to do something if my network is connected to a particular network.
i am trying to enumerate all IPs on my local network, but i am not having any luck. The only thing i have came up with so far is a really tedius "get my own ip and scan the subnet with pings" which surely isn't the best way? I am really only trying to get the ip of a tivo box, and i can determine it's a tivo by mac address or name. My router lists the "computer name" of the tivos as a long string of numbers with the prefix "tivo".What about broadcasting a ping packet? I could also attempt to connect with telnet to port 31339 on every one of them.

View 2 RepliesI'm viewing reports on a VB.net form using CrystalReportViewer. Once a report is opened, the Access database that is used within the report is locked (i.e., the Access MDB file can't be deleted). Even after the report is closed, the database stays locked until the VB.net app "ends". This is a problem because I want to be able to delete the MDB file at some point while running the app and can't. The VB.net app starts by opening a form named "Startup". No database connection occurs here. A button is pressed using this [code]I must not be properly closing the CrystalReportViewer or the Report form.How do I close the Crystal report and unlock/release the Access database?

View 7 RepliesMy first post here in vb forums. I'm new to sockets programming since I migrated from Winsock and I learn a lot from Atheist. using his code, I can't access the messageReceived() every time a client sends a message on the server. but then I put a code to catch the message on sub doRead() and I can retrieve the message. My problem now is how can I determine if a client is still connected to the server or not so I can delete it on the ConnectedClient ?
[Code]...
Note: the server runs on Win7 x64 ultimate and the clients are laptops on win7 x86. I read a comment that the server should be having a static IP address, but when did it together with the clients, It still doesn't work. I am just using a switch for the network.
I have connected a database query that I made using MS Access 2007 to my form in VB 2008. I know how to pull the fields onto the form and get the information to display on the form by clicking the binding navigator at the top of the form. My question is that is there a way that I could input the ID number in a textbox and click a button to display the rest of the field in some more textboxes

I am trying to figure out how to detect if a device is connected. The exact c# sample can be found here: [URL]
But when I tried to convert it to C# .... I wasted hours!
I googled a lot and changed the declaration of the API many times...
I want to detect when a new usb-device (can be anything) is connected to the computer. I don't need to know what kind of device it is, I just want to know when it is plugged in.
I found this thread: [URL]
I know the solution is in here, but I'm overlooking it I'm afraid. What I want:
USB-device connected > Run function. USB-device disconnected > Run another function.
How can I check through my application if computer is connected with internet or not (at the moment)I need a message if net is connected.
View 3 RepliesI just read a book : Pro ADO.NET 2.0.It discuss about the disconnected and connected feature of the ADO.NET.In disconnected, the "data container" is DataSet.But it doesn't say anything about the data container if i use the connected feature. In ADO, we have recordset, what about ADO.NET.
